Godforge Alpha Caverns – Top 5 Mistakes to Avoid

When it comes to conquering the Godforge Alpha Caverns, every decision matters. With Wave 3 bringing competitive stakes, the last thing you want is to shoot yourself in the foot with avoidable mistakes. Some of these pitfalls are easy to overlook, and even experienced players (including me) have fallen into them. In this guide, we’ll break down the top five mistakes to avoid so you can keep your progression sharp, your resources intact, and your frustration levels low.

1. Letting Your Hero Roster Overflow

imprints

This one’s a silent killer. If your roster gets close to full, you’ll see a warning pop-up telling you that you are near capacity (this means there are fewer than ten slots available). If you ignore it, and you risk losing valuable heroes without even realizing it.

When your roster is full, any new heroes are instantly converted into imprints. That means you might pull a legendary drop overnight, only to find it’s been turned into an imprint before you could recruit them. Players have lost multiple legendary heroes this way, some without even knowing it happened until much later.

Pro Tip:

  • Keep your roster tidy. Clear out low-value heroes, feed duplicates, or level up units to free space.
  • With Alpha Wave 2 introducing a hero crunch system, managing rosters should be easier. But still, vigilance is key.

2. Farming the Wrong Gear Floors Overnight

If you’re farming gear while away from your device, especially overnight, be careful about which floor you choose. Not all floors are created equal, and some will flood you with a single gear type.

For example, floors ending in 1 drop only helmets. Farming Floor 81 overnight? Expect to wake up to a mountain of headgear and not much else. This happened to the me. While Neva woke up to piles of boots from another single-drop floor.

Pro Tip:

  • For long unattended farming sessions, stick to boss stages (Floor 90 and below) for a balanced drop pool.
  • New for Alpha 2, stages 120+ are treated like boss stages and drop all items. Be sure to look at the gear sets that drop!
  • If you need a specific item type and can monitor progress, target that floor intentionally. But avoid single-slot farming for extended periods.

3. Overinvesting in Low-Star Gear

gearing

Godforge’s gear rarity system works differently than most RPGs. Instead of stars being tied purely to rarity, they’re linked to gear quality tiers:

  • I (Damaged) – 1 Star
  • II (Crude) – 2 Star
  • III (Superior) – 3 Star
  • IV (Flawless) – 4 Star
  • V (Masterwork) – 5 Star

The catch? Upgrading costs the same regardless of quality. Taking a 1-star epic to +12 costs just as much as upgrading a masterwork 5-star epic, but the stat gain is significantly worse.

Pro Tip:

  • Don’t max out low-star gear. Limit upgrades to +8 (or +12 in emergencies).
  • Save your gold for higher-quality gear, especially Flawless and Masterwork pieces—these will give far better returns for the same investment.

4. Wasting Universal Imprints on Low-Value Heroes

Universal imprints are incredibly valuable. They can be used to awaken any hero, regardless of faction, making them perfect for pushing powerful legendary heroes to Awakening 3 or 5 for huge power spikes.

Using them on rares or epics, no matter how much you like them, is almost always a waste. In Alpha Wave 1, most rares and epics could be maxed through regular play, but legendaries remained much harder to fully awaken.

Pro Tip:

  • Save universal imprints exclusively for your strongest legendary heroes.
  • Plan their use for key awakenings that provide game-changing bonuses, rather than spreading them thin early on.

5. Obsessing Over Two-Starring Every Floor Early

cavern requirements

The game incentivizes two-starring stages by increasing your final Fafnir boss multiplier based on how many you’ve cleared. While tempting to chase every two-star early, this can slow your progression significantly—especially if you lack the specific hero types needed for certain conditions.

I spent unnecessary time farming for cunning heroes just to two-star a floor early, only to realize I could have pushed further in the Caverns and come back later when stronger.

Pro Tip:

  • If a two-star is easy, grab it.
  • If it requires niche heroes or awkward conditions, skip it and progress forward, you can return later when your roster is stronger, making the task trivial.

Final Thoughts

In Godforge’s competitive Alpha environment, efficiency is everything. Avoiding these five mistakes can mean the difference between smooth, consistent progress and wasted time, gold, and opportunities. Keep your roster clean, farm smart, invest wisely in gear, guard your universal imprints, and don’t get tunnel-visioned on early stars.

By sidestepping these common pitfalls, you’ll keep your momentum high, your resources plentiful, and your Cavern climb as painless as possible.
