Godforge Dev Update: QoL and the Vyraj Faction Reveal
When it comes to developing a game as ambitious as Godforge, the work never really stops. After the buzz of alpha testing, the Fateless team has shifted gears back into full development mode, polishing systems, expanding rosters, and adding new features that players have been asking for. In a recent showcase, Simon from Fateless took us on a tour of the latest dev build to reveal just how much progress is being made. From smarter inventory management to dazzling new heroes, this update is packed with excitement.
Inventory Management

One of the biggest quality of life changes coming to Godforge is the overhaul of the inventory system. This is where all your gear, consumables, ether stones, and weapon upgrades live.
Players will now be able to multi-sell gear with ease. Want to clear out all your old boots in one go? Just filter by gear type, hit select all, and confirm the sale. Not only will this free up space, it will reward you with gold instantly. This feature was teased during alpha but is now functioning in the dev build.
The new filtering tools are just as impressive. You can search for gear based on rarity, primary and secondary stats, or even which archetype the gear is attuned to. Whether you want to isolate armor sets that fit disruptors or weed out pieces with attack percent as a main stat, the system gives you both inclusion and exclusion options for fine-tuned control.
Hero Filtering

Gear isn’t the only area getting a glow up. The hero roster screen is also being upgraded with robust filtering options. Players will be able to sort their heroes by rarity, archetype, allegiance, leader bonuses, and more.
Want to see only awakened heroes or those with specific buffs? The system will let you do just that. Even deeper functionality is being built for filtering by buffs, debuffs, disables, and instant abilities. Imagine being able to instantly check which heroes in your roster can increase turn meter! That’s the kind of flexibility that will make team-building far more intuitive.
A First Look at the Vyraj

The real showstopper of this update is the reveal of the Vyraj faction, a group of heroes inspired by Slavic folklore and myth. Not only do they come with new designs, but the faction also features its own unique background and updated lighting to highlight the detail of each model.
Among the standout heroes:
- Chernobog and Belobog: Two powerful figures embodying dark and light, giving players a striking duality in the roster.
- Baba Yaga: Riding in her chicken-legged cauldron, she unleashes attacks from her eerie skull-topped basket.
- Perun: A legendary figure wielding a massive axe, still awaiting polish but already exuding raw power.
- Veles: Nemesis of Perun, this wild man is currently Simons favorite! He’s also someone I asked for in my first fateless podcast back in January!
- Dracula: Available in alpha, now shown with improved lighting that emphasizes his sinister presence.
On the epic tier, we meet characters like Devana, Magura, Mokosh, Koshchei, Leshy the treeman, and Polludnitsa. Each hero is vibrant and distinctive, from Bo’s rich color palette to Ley’s detailed, bark-like design.
The rare heroes also bring plenty of personality, including Maria Morevna and Dobrynya, who showcase unique silhouettes and flair. For fans of Slavic mythology, this faction is a feast of familiar inspirations reimagined through the Godforge lens.
New Visual Polish
It isn’t just about adding heroes. The team is also enhancing lighting, backgrounds, and idle animations. Early animations are being “blocked in” to establish movement before the animation team refines them into fluid, polished performances. Even in this rough stage, the attention to detail is evident, making each hero feel more alive with every update.
Overhauled Systems Beyond Heroes
Alongside inventory and filtering, the developers are revamping the ascension system, ensuring smoother progression for players as they strengthen their teams. These foundational systems are crucial to making Godforge both accessible and strategically deep at launch.
Final Thoughts
This dev update shows a clear commitment to refining Godforge into a game that not only looks stunning but also plays smoothly. From streamlined inventory management to a roster filled with folklore-inspired legends, the direction is exciting. The Vyraj faction in particular adds fresh flavor to the game’s ever-expanding mythological tapestry.
With most of the release heroes already built and being added to the dev build, it’s safe to say the road to launch is shaping up to be something special. If this update is any indication, Godforge is steadily transforming from an ambitious idea into a polished reality.
