Floor 120: How to Beat the Golden Guardian Boss Alpha Wave 1
The Golden Guardian is the second major boss encounter in the Godforge Caverns—and for many players, Floor 120 becomes a major roadblock. In this article, we break down the boss’s full kit, key mechanics, and the most effective strategies to help you clear it.
Golden Guardian’s Kit Explained

The Golden Guardian is designed to punish common strategies and force players to adapt. His core mechanics revolve around Divinity, which builds up based on your actions—and if it gets too high, you’re done for.
Here’s a quick breakdown of his abilities:
Basic Attack – Midas Touch:
AoE damage that places debuffs based on your hero archetypes (Attack Down, Defense Down, Accuracy Down). He also reduces the turn meter of the enemy with the highest turn meter and gains 20 Divinity per activation. If your turn meter is fully depleted, he applies Initiative Down 3 to your whole team.
Core Ability:
AoE that places Stun and Speed Down, again depending on your team’s archetypes. This ability stacks extra Divinity depending on how many effects land.
→ Try to minimize the number of defenders, brawlers, and invokers in your team.
Ultimate – Divine Judgement:
If his HP is above 1%, he will instantly kill your entire team. This bypasses Ward, Immortal, Barrier, and Radiance. However, if just one hero survives, he collapses and the fight ends.
→ Your goal is to lower his HP below 1% before the ult lands.
Key Passives to Watch Out For

Takes Divinity on Damage:
Every instance of damage gives him 10 Divinity. We are not sure if this is triggered by damage over time effects yet but if so, Avoid multi-hitters and stacking Bleeds.
At 30% and 60% Divinity:
He starts ignoring defense and increases damage.
→ This is your countdown timer. You must suppress his Divinity build-up.
Undefeated:
Reduces all incoming damage to 0 when his HP drops below 1%. This makes it very hard to finish him off but is also your green light that you have played the fight correctly and avoided the instant kill.
Mythic Divinity:
Makes him immune to Divinity manipulation effects like locks and scaling cost changes.
→ Focus on pure Divinity reduction and initiative control.
Best Strategies for Beating the Golden Guardian
In this first alpha, these are the current best strategies.
1. Lower His Divinity (Top Priority)
Bring heroes that reduce or steal Divinity. Two of the best include:
- Anubis (Core): Applies Initiative Down to slow his gain.
- Hound of Duat (Basic): Hits twice with each hit having a 25% chance to steal Divinity. If paired with Anubis or Jackal, they may join the attack.
Other useful picks:
- Set: Basic applies Initiative Down to Order enemies.
- Pangu: Core applies Initiative Down if his speed is higher.
2. Apply Speed Down
Fewer turns = more time to deal damage. Heroes to consider:
- Pangu (Ultimate)
- Horus (Core)
- Jackal (Basic) – Also a strong utility unit.
3. Use Divinity-Stealing Weapons
- Ame-no-Nuhoko (Available from Floor \~108):
- Steals 5% Divinity per hit. Equip it on heroes like Zeus for consistent pressure.
4. Survivability and Damage Control
- Attack Down: Reduce his outgoing damage.
- Defense Down: Amplify your own damage.
- Protect + Shield: Heroes like Hound of Duat and Shishi offer excellent protection.
- Radiance or Barrier (though his ult ignores these, they help pre-ult).
MVP: Beowulf the Boss Killer

If you have Beowulf, he is an exceptional pick for this fight:
- Percent-based damage on both core and ultimate.
- Bonus damage to bosses.
- If awakened, even basic attacks scale with enemy HP.
Keep him alive, and he can solo the final moments of the fight.
Final Thoughts
Tips:
- Avoid over-using Scardy, despite her usual utility. Her freezes trigger extra Divinity gain from the boss.
- Keep your Hound of Duat leveled and geared if you plan to run him as your anchor. Protect gear and defense scaling are crucial.
- Consider using the Equipment of the Bear set on key carries for added tankiness.
To beat the Golden Guardian on Floor 120:
- Focus on Divinity control through Initiative Down and Divinity steal.
- Avoid overloading your team with multi-hitters and DoTs.
- Build around Beowulf, Anubis, and Hound of Duat if available.
- Use smart gear, watch your buffs/debuffs, and keep the team alive just long enough to finish the job.
