Godforge’s Halloween Update

The spirits are restless in Godforge and the Fateless team is clearly having a blast bringing the season’s dark energy to life. In a recent update, Simon from Fateless pulled back the curtain on what’s been happening inside the studio, showcasing terrifying new heroes, a haunting dungeon boss, and the kind of behind-the-scenes polish that proves Godforge is charging full-speed toward its next big milestone.

From seductive serpents to Welsh hags, this update has everything you’d expect from a Halloween reveal… and then some.

The Game is Coming Together

Tower of Strife Menu

Development on Godforge has hit what Simon calls “crunch mode,” but not in the dreaded sense. The team is deep in the process of locking down the game’s MVP (minimum viable product) build. The version that defines the full shape of Godforge’s gameplay.

The current build already includes major systems like Draft Mode, the Tower of Strife (featuring Towers of Order and Chaos), Dungeons, Campaign Mode, and Arena battles. While many of these features still use placeholder assets, they’re functional and that’s huge.

  • Campaign Mode will evolve over time with additional chapters.
  • Arena Battles are now playable with defense setups, leaderboards, and rank rewards.
  • Pantheon Bosses are officially in the build, though not fully playable just yet.

In short, the foundation of Godforge is built and it’s only getting stronger from here.

Halloween Arrives in Godforge

Lamashtu

What better time to showcase Godforge’s darker side than Halloween? Simon teased several “Halloweenesque” heroes, each dripping with style and atmosphere.

  • Lamashtu tooks center stage, a fierce, demonic being radiating raw menace. Her twin blades promise devastation once her full VFX suite goes live. “Honestly, one of the best that we’ve got in-game right now,” Simon said, clearly proud of the work the team’s put in.
  • Next is Lilith. her early model already oozes seductive danger, even without full animation polish. “Very seductive,” Simon laughed, hinting that she’s one to watch once the visual effects and rigging are finalized.
  • And then there’s Medusa, newly upgraded to Legendary status and she’s had a full visual overhaul. Her snake hair is now far more animated (though hilariously, the heads currently refuse to move). The art team also gave her a more striking, “full sexy Medusa” makeover, refining her facial features and hair. Creature artist Mihaela and character artist Nico deserve serious props for this glow-up.

Visual Overhauls Across the Board

Medusa update

It’s not just the new heroes getting love, Godforge’s existing roster is getting serious attention too. Simon showcased a lineup of updated faces and textures across several familiar heroes:

  • Mulan now looks more like the stoic warrior she’s meant to be.
  • Loki leans into his mischievous trickster roots, with a smirk and sharper details.
  • Dryad and Ceridwen both received visual reworks that enhance their mythical elegance.
  • Ankhesanamun, already one of the more refined designs, received subtle texture and makeup improvements.

This ongoing visual pass shows how dedicated the Fateless team is to elevating every aspect of presentation. As Simon put it, “All of this work is ongoing to improve the visuals of the game. I know you guys are really keen on that.”

Enter the Hag’s Hollow

Hags Hollow

Every good Halloween story needs a monster, and Godforge delivers one that’s equal parts eerie and fascinating. Introducing Gwrach Y Rhibyn, the Witch of Hag’s Hollow, a dungeon boss inspired by Welsh folklore.

The dungeon layout is classic Godforge: stage info, boss descriptions, reward previews, and a section for tracking best clear times and teams. Players can even view past team compositions for reference, an amazing feature if you’re forgetful like me!

Once inside the battle, the Hag dominates the screen, flanked by sinister totems that must be destroyed through heavy AoE damage. Her design, cloaked in shadows and fog, radiates menace. Simon admitted the lighting is still too bright right now, but once the darker tones are tuned in, “it’s going to feel even more mysterious.”

Even in its current state, Hag’s Hollow is visually stunning and atmospherically rich.

Dragons, Serpents, and the Beauty of Chaos

Simon also revealed updates to the serpent dragons, Shenlong and Tianlong, legendary beasts that look downright breathtaking even without finalized lighting. “They’re looking pretty badass,” Simon said, showing off their new rigging and in-game presence.

These models showcase just how far the studio’s creature design has come. Even in an unfinished state, their scale and movement feel powerful, setting the stage for some incredible battles to come.

More To Come This Week

As the showcase wrapped up, Simon couldn’t help but sound both exhausted and energized. “My diary is insane with how much stuff is going on,” he laughed. Between dungeon builds, hero polishing, VFX passes, and gameplay integration, Fateless is firing on all cylinders.

The end result? A game that’s steadily transforming from concept to experience. One system, one hero, and one dungeon at a time.

And for those who can’t wait to see more, Simon left a little tease: keep an eye on content creators this Halloween. They’ll be dropping a “cheeky leak” that fans definitely won’t want to miss.

Final Thoughts

From Lamashtu’s deadly allure to Gwrach Y Rhibyn’s haunted lair, this update is a celebration of everything that makes Godforge unique. Style, substance, and a clear love for mythic artistry. The polish work alone is setting a new bar for indie RPG visuals, and every reveal shows a team that’s not just building a game, but crafting a world.

The forge is burning hot, and Halloween has never looked so good.
