Inside the Godforge UI Overhaul

Ever wondered what the Godforge experience is really going to look and feel like once you dive in? Fateless Game Studio just dropped a juicy update, and Simon is back behind the mic (and inside Unity) to walk us through a sneak peek at the latest UI/UX progress, a deeper dive into weapon systems, and some jaw-dropping new hero visuals. If you thought Godforge was looking good before—buckle up.

Let’s break it all down.

The Godforge UI Is Getting a Glow-Up

Simon kicks things off by diving straight into the in-engine Unity build, showing off the rapidly evolving interface players will interact with during beta—and eventually in the full game. It’s not just a few polished menus. We’re talking full screens coming to life, from the character viewer to gearing tabs and summoning showcases.

Even now, some UI elements are still placeholder, but the structure is clear: this is a system built for accessibility and depth. The Fateless team is actively refining every interaction, making sure everything feels smooth, looks great, and functions flawlessly by launch.

What really stands out is the attention to visual polish. Heroes like Ra, Athena, Freyja, and even hulking beasts like the Minotaur and a full-blown dragon (aka Zulong—yes, pun intended) are now being shown in dramatically lit environments with fluid camera work. You can zoom in, spin around, and toggle off the UI to just admire the artistry. It’s genuinely stunning.

Gearing & Weapons: Clarity, Customization, and Crunchy Min-Maxing

Remember that earlier video where Simon walked us through weapons and gear? Turns out, some of that needed a little clarification—so this time, he takes us deeper into the system and clears up the grey areas.

Here’s how weapons work in Godforge:

  • Earn, Upgrade, Empower: Weapons can be farmed, won, or earned through gameplay, and upgraded to improve both stats and their implicit ability (a unique passive effect).
  • Attunement System: You can attune a weapon to a specific faction, like Kojiki or Avalon, boosting its effectiveness for heroes of that group. Want a +5% bonus on top of your weapon’s already strong ability? Attune it—but keep in mind, if you unattune it, you’ll have to pay again to re-attune.
  • True Users: Certain weapons, like Excalibur, are tied to specific heroes. Only King Arthur can truly unlock its full potential. This gives you an extra layer of optimization and encourages faction and lore synergy.
  • Imprinting: Possibly the coolest part—imprints allow you to bind a hero’s passive ability to a weapon. You’ll sacrifice a duplicate hero to extract the imprint, then apply it permanently to a weapon. Want Excalibur of Susanoo? You can make it happen. Just… maybe not with Leonidas’ face on it in the final version.

This system is built for theory crafters and collectors alike. Whether you're chasing the perfect stat combo or want your weapon to be lore-aligned, you’ll have plenty of options—and reasons to keep grinding.

A Sneak Peek at Other UI Screens

Beyond weapons, the UI/UX team at Fateless is putting in serious work across all aspects of the Godforge experience. A few highlights Simon teased:

  • Refinement & Enhancement: Weapon refinement is your path to boosting stats and upgrading implicits. The UI makes this process intuitive while keeping that rewarding “power-up” feeling front and center.
  • Summoning Revamp: Summoning is getting more than just a facelift. When you pull a new hero, you’ll be treated to a short clip showing off their skills in action, along with detailed ability descriptions. It’s not just about getting that legendary—it’s about feeling the hype of it.
  • Defeat Screen with Feedback: Lose a battle? The game won’t just send you back to the drawing board—it’ll tell you why. Missing ascensions? Gear gaps? The defeat screen gives actionable tips and directs you where to improve. Super smart.
  • Team Sharing & Social Tools: Want to show off your squad to your Pantheon (Godforge’s term for guilds)? The sharing tools will make it easy. Whether you’re flexing on friends or theory crafting with clanmates, the devs are making that a seamless part of the game.

What’s Next: Pantheons and More

The video wraps with a glimpse at what’s coming next. Henry, the team’s UI/UX lead, is now focused on building out the Pantheon system—Godforge’s take on guilds. This will be the next major piece of the puzzle, bringing players together for collaboration, competition, and community building.

It’s not just a cosmetic feature. Pantheons are set to play a big role in progression and social engagement, and the team is treating it with the same level of polish and functionality as the rest of the UI.

Final Thoughts: Godforge is Starting to Shine

This update marks a turning point. While earlier showcases gave us a taste of Godforge’s ambition, this latest dev update proves how far along the game is toward becoming a polished, playable, and genuinely exciting experience. From the stunning character presentations to the deep, customizable weapon system and an intuitive, evolving UI, it’s clear the Fateless team is delivering something special.

If you’re part of the beta group, keep an eye on your inbox—things are getting close. And if you haven’t signed up yet, now might be the time to jump in and get ready.

Until then, stay tuned—there’s plenty more forging ahead.
