What to Expect in the Godforge Alpha Caverns
The time has finally come, Godforge’s Alpha 1 is going live and Fateless Game Studio is bringing players deeper into the chaos than ever before. In a massive video update, Simon from Fateless pulled back the curtain on what’s been tweaked, fixed, improved, and still in progress since the Friends and Family wave. Whether you’re diving into the Caverns of Chaos for the first time or returning after the early alpha, there’s a lot to unpack. Let’s break it all down and get you ready to forge ahead.
Welcome to the New World of Chaos
Before the systems talk began, Simon treated us to a taste of the game’s gritty lore with a dramatic narration from the Sentinel. The world of Godforge is no longer ruled by familiar gods, now it’s filled with reborn stars, monstrous beasts from the abyss, and rival powers all vying for control. It’s dark, it’s brutal, and it’s absolutely dripping with personality. If that monologue didn’t get you hyped to descend into the chaos, check your pulse.
Major Quality-of-Life Updates Since Friends and Family

Simon and the team took feedback seriously from the earlier alpha wave, and it shows. Here are the standout improvements:
Stat Tooltips and Popups
Stats, affinities, and archetypes now feature popups to help you understand how to build and optimize your heroes. Without a full tutorial system yet, this small touch is a big help in navigating early game complexity.
Hero Promotion Simplified
No more tedious clicking to upgrade your heroes! Now, heroes act as food based on rarity:
Common = ⭐️
Uncommon = ⭐️⭐️
Rare = ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Epic = ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Legendary = ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (yes, but don’t do this unless you’re mad!)
This streamlines leveling, letting you max a hero to level 60 in one go if you’ve got the resources.
Ascension & Passives
Heroes from Rare and up unlock their Passive abilities at 3-star Ascension. That’s a key milestone for every build, so make sure you don’t overlook it. Tooltips explaining this are coming, but the functionality is already in place.
Other Quality of Life Changes

Awakening Just Got Smarter
Feedback around duplicate heroes finally paid off. You can now awaken a hero using:
- Duplicate copies
- Character-specific imprints
- Universal imprints (Rare, Epic, or Legendary)
This gives players flexibility in progressing their top units while making good use of their bench.
Weapons, Imprints, and More
Weapons now support refinement, enhancement, and imprinting. You can:
- Equip imprints to grant new passive abilities.
- Extract imprints by sacrificing heroes.
- Apply these to weapons and passives follow the gear, giving new strategic options.
This is a huge system that adds a layer of depth to team-building and gear choices.
Rewards, Challenges, and Battle Screen Buffs
The Caverns of Chaos now show a reward preview for each stage, including gear, spirits (your chicken equivalents), and even potential hero drops. Stage-specific challenges now offer up to two stars and bonus rewards. You can long-press on heroes in the pre-battle screen to check:
- Affinity, faction, and archetype
- Equipment and gear sets
- Stats and skills
All of this helps you meet challenge conditions more easily and make smarter pre-fight decisions.
Camera Modes and Combat Views
The battle screen features three camera options:
- Cinematic (“Death”) Mode
- Isometric (Three-Quarter) View
- Top-Down Perspective
Whether you’re in it for the cinematic flair or tactical clarity, there’s a view for everyone. You can toggle UI elements too, but some features like damage meters aren’t active yet.
What Didn’t Make the Cut (Yet)

As transparent as ever, Simon outlined several systems that didn’t make it into Alpha 1, but are firmly on the roadmap:
- Extended tutorial and defeat-screen suggestions (e.g., “go level gear” prompts)
- In-game status effect index (for now, check the Discord PDF)
- Complete gear set breakdowns and more visible 4-piece/6-piece bonuses
- Advanced hero and gear sorting and filtering
- Better AI decision-making (right now it still nukes single targets with ults!)
- True auto-battle drops summary and gear sell options
- Battle visual indicators (Frozen, Stunned, etc.)
- Full optimization for mobile performance
- Faster hero roster UI responsiveness
These are known issues, not oversights. Fateless is prioritizing the core gameplay experience—team-building, progression, and boss fights—for the alpha phase.
Join the Community and Shape the Game
Once Alpha 1 goes live, a new Alpha Testing Zone will open in the official Discord. It includes:
- Bug Reporting (with a clean ticket system)
- Known Bugs List (check before submitting!)
- Gameplay Feedback
- Flex channels to show off your progress
- A growing list of over 100 content creators sharing videos, streams, and impressions
Simon encourages everyone to report visual issues (like the infamous pink effect bug), share gameplay clips, and get involved. The community is the engine driving Godforge forward.
Final Thoughts: It’s Alpha And That’s a Good Thing
Yes, there’s a long road ahead. But that’s the point of an alpha. Godforge is already showing tremendous potential with its hero upgrade systems, gear depth, awakening mechanics, and immersive worldbuilding. It’s raw, yes, but it’s a canvas being painted in real time with help from the community.
So dive in. Explore the Caverns of Chaos. Build your dream team. Break the game (so the devs can fix it). And above all, have fun.
