How to beat the Nether Spider in the Doom tower in Raid: Shadow Legends!

spacer

Welcome back to the DOOM TOWER!

Our next Boss we’ll go into is the Nether Spider (Spirit Affinity)

Appearing on Floors: 20/60/90 on both Normal and Hard

spacer

Envenomed Strand [ATK]
Attacks all enemies. Places 5% [Poison] Debuff for 4 turns. Will repeat the attack 1 time for each Spiderling without any active buffs. These [Poison] Debuffs cannot be resisted or blocked.

Brood Feast [ATK]
Spawns 4 spiderlings then places a [Counterattack] buff on all Spiderlings for 3 turns. Will team up with all Spiderlings to attack all enemies if a Spiderling is spawned by this skill. Thanks to the update in 3.21 on 05/02/21, the Nether spider will use this skill at the beginning of the first round.

Elder Lurker [Passive]
Counterattacks when enemy decreases Agreth’s Turn Meter. The damage inflicted is equal to the amount of Turn Meter lost. Will ignore 100% of DEF.

Tide of Toxins [Passive]
Attacks all enemies at the start of each turn. Deals damage from all [Poison] Debuffs on each enemy instantly. When attacked by an enemy under a [Poison] debuff, increases the duration of all debuffs on the attacker by 1 turn, then places a 25% [Poison Sensitivity] debuff on them for 3 turns. When attacked by an enemy that has no [Poison] debuff, places a 5% [Poison] debuff on the attacker for 4 turns. This debuff cannot be blocked or resisted.

Almighty Immunity [Passive]
Immune to [Stun], [Freeze], [Sleep], [Provoke], [Block Cooldown Skills], [Fear] and [True Fear] debuffs. Also immune to HP exchange effects, HP balancing effects and cooldown increasing effects.

Also as of Patch 3.21 on 05/02/21.

Almighty Strength [Passive]

Damage from skills that scale based on enemy MAX HP cannot exceed 10% of the boss’ MAX HP when attacking the boss

Spiderling

Attack Skill
Attacks all enemies. Places a 5% [Poison] Debuff for 2 turns. Cannot be resisted or blocked. Heals Agreth by 10% each time spiderling counterattacks. Places [Ally Protect] on Agreth whenever counterattack is removed or expires. [Ally Protect] cannot be removed.

This boss, like all the spiders, brings along friends and they get to go first, good news? The skill goes immediately on a 3-turn cooldown.

So where does this leave us?

We can’t AOE nuke, since Agreth will heal and its spiderlings will just counterattack and undo any damage we do.

We can’t rely on good ol’ Coldheart since her TM decrease will cause her to be hit back and die

So we play the long game, we get a damage dealer or two, we get some sustain and we beat the spider with our heroes.

Be Prepared

This is the first boss with minions they’re annoying but don’t hit all that hard. What we have to be cautious of are the poisons they put out.

The main spider exploding all the poisons at the start of its turn can easily take out a champion.

So we look to champs that can consistently ‘cleanse’ the poisons off, keep our HP topped up, give us big shields for the poisons to eat through first and to heal and keep our team healthy.

spacer

AVOID

Big TM reductions (Psylar, CH’s Heartseeker) champs are too squishy for the massive damage they get hit back with.

Champions who hit at random (Apothocary – even though we might need those heals), they will just cause you issues, either healing the spider or getting more poisons onto your champs for Agreth to explode.

Champions with A1’s that hit AOE(Bad-El, Battlesage), same as above, more counters, more damage, very dead champs.

Let’s pick our poison……(sorry)

The Champions

The All-Star:

Drexthar Bloodtwin (Demonspawn, Force)

Is he a freebie? Sort if. Well, you should be doing your 3v3 arena….because…..erm….Drexthar! (Plus energy, books, accessories etc depending on your ranking)

100 days seems like a long time, but once you have him, you won’t regret it.

ACC aura, lowers his acc requirement to land the hp burn (Spider strats coming through finally! Sorry Royal Guard…..)

So you get hit at the beginning of the battle, potentially getting HP burn out on the entire enemy team. Built-in budget-lifesteal if the enemy is on fire. Triple hit A1, great for Giant Slayer

Legendary MVP:

Scyl of the Drakes (Barbarians, Magic)

SHE.IS.FREE. Granted you have to play and claim your daily logins for 180 days. You won’t be disappointed. Doesn’t need books but is immensely better with them. Revive and ally protect to keep the target alive, Heals based on champ MAX HP at the start of her turn. puts our [Decrease SPD] on her A1 and can decrease the TM of the boss, not too shabby!

Solid since she’s DEF-based and doesn’t even need ACC for this boss, she’s here to keep us topped up and pick up the damage dealer(s)

Epic MVP:

Doompriest (Knights Revenant, Force)

A passive that cleanses one debuff at the start of her turn (before she goes) AND heals.

Downright fantastic, there’s a reason why she is used in some high level CB comps.

NO book requirement, just high HP/DEF & SPD. Later game, get her in relentless and watch her go.

Rare MVP:

Reliquary Tender (High Elves, Void)

Here we have the gold standard, shes a solid 10! Due to how few void champs there are, you probably already have one. She has a revive, an AOE cleanse that replaces with a 15% [Continuous Heal] on the team, 25% [ATK Down] on the A1. She’s super-low spender friendly and will help through loads of other content

Get a few books in, get her nice and tanky with decent speed and she’ll carry you well.

We have a few other mentions, Mausoleum Mage, Spirithost (super farmable, just a long cooldown on the cleanse), Hakkorhn Smashlord. Plenty to choose from.

Conclusion

Since the patch the spider has got harder, now our best plan is to sustain through the fight, keeping our champs up and either burning it to death with a single target [HP Burn] or poisons and mastery procs.

Try to sync your cleanse champs to go just before the spider can explode any poisons you have.

You might need more than one, look at your champs and gear, don’t be afraid to test it, we don’t lose anything by quitting the battle if it’s not going our way.

The formula doesn’t really change as you get onto the harder levels and difficulties just the requirement to keep your champions alive. We don’t know what the future rotations will hold so good luck and happy raiding!

@hellhades worked for me Floor 60 with Scyl, Drexthar, Armiger, Mausoleum Mage and Skytouched Shaman, Thanks for the tips, they were very helpful.

Thank you so much for the Drextar tip!! Used him as a lead with Doompriest, Duchess, Scyl, and Sir Nic on level 90 hard! Drextar only level 52. Sir Nic used for the Unkillable. Boss was manual to make sure no AOE went out. EZ PZ in 9m 30 seconds

This is a great guide, thanks a lot.
There is one more champion that would be great for the Nether Spider.
Sanguinia is an epic from the Sacred Order. Her A2 puts continuous heals on all allies and her A3 cleanse all allies and transfer all debuffs to the target. Great way to kill the spider with her own poisons and poison sensitivity while cleansing your team…

Oh man, that is a good call. I am new to Doom Tower and have been stuck on the Nether Spider. I have been sleeping on Sanguinia though. Time to work her up!

Thanks for this helpful guide. I finally got this beast with these 5 heroes:

Duchess Lilitu, Scyl of the Drakes, Witness (!), Hakkorhn Smashlord, and Mausoleum Mage (lvl 50)… and it only took 26 minutes! heh heh

I just killed Nether Spider Floor 110, using Arbiter (L60, I think she can be replaced by Scyl), Trunda (L60), Sepulcher Sentinel (L60, Deflection set), Doompriest (L50), Reliquary Tender (L50), manual 205 turns. No champion died in the process, manual for Reliquary’s A2 timing. I also think Trunda can be replaced (but not tested), I killed small spiders by Trunda’s A2/A3.
I tried to use what I have, I am a low spender, so cannot choose the best team. I think I cannot beat higher floor bosses, by the way.

at late game levels, Lyssandra is the bomb for this boss. if you are 4:3, or better 2:1 on speed, Lys with her unique set of abilities will essentially take the poisons from the spiderlings and kill the mother by transferring debuffs to her. my comp is ARB, LYS, Dutchess, Warlord, and either Drexthar or Ithos… this comp works for me because I have a 4:3 (finally) on the boss on each of my chars. but I would caution that you have to be faster than the boss, and Warlord does not seem to be optional either. I have the chars of Hades’ recommended comp, I just haven’t leveled and booked them yet. they did OK for me at normal level 30, but ran into an endless standoff at 60 with my group.

I have a REALLY weak sustain team that can get me down to less than 5% of AGRETH’s health, they are all single target A1ers, but suddenly Agreth will heal for EACH spider, even though no single spider ling was touched – It is making the fight unwinnable for me currently. Has anyone else seen anything like this happen?

i really hate this level. cannot ever even get past the level 20 nether spider on normal level…and i can clear a level 20 dungeon. its just utterly undoable and completely demotivating

  9. Hexacrity May 25, 2021 at 5:10 pm

This worked: Drexthar, Doompriest, Scyl, Mausoleum Mage, and Reliquary Tender. I had to upgrade some gear after failing, and it turns out Rel. Tender’s survivability is key. Thanks!

Shamrock is a good champ to mix in. Accuracy aura. (1)Removes/steals buffs. (2) Increase Def and SPD. Increase CRate. Revive. Continuous Heal. (3)Decrease SPD on all enemies. I used him with MM, Scyl, Doompriest and Rotos.

  11. LietKynes227 June 21, 2021 at 8:19 pm

This was great help. I used Drexar (L), Reliquary Tender (50). , Doompriest, Scyl and Armiger. I tried it in full auto first and bingo!

    • LietKynes227 July 13, 2021 at 10:47 pm

I had to upgrade for level 90 though. Manual all the way 15:42 159 turns… Drexthar, Maus Mage, Doompriest, Rel Tend. and Santa Nick.

  12. Warzy1 July 2, 2021 at 5:49 pm

So from the above comments, Doompriest is an absolute must. I’ll keep waiting then. All other cleansers haven’t been able to do it.

  13. [email protected] July 14, 2021 at 5:47 pm

Killed with Rel. Tender, Scyl, Hakkorn Smashlord, Fahrakin, and Altan.

All A1 single target hitters to protect against the heal. Fahrakin throws poison and HP burn on Agreth, which slowly burns down little guys without setting off counter attack, and the allied attack puts out tons on single target damage. If my cleansers go down, Altan can then single shot the little spiders which resurrects them or Scy can bring them back. It is slow but effective.
