RAID Teases “Echoes of Oz” Event – Champion Speculation
Plarium has dropped a new teaser for RAID: Shadow Legends, and Teleria looks set for a trip to Oz.
The upcoming event appears to be called Echoes of Oz. More importantly, the teaser gives us our first look at a mysterious new villain who looks remarkably familiar.
A huge pointed hat. Black clothing. Pointed boots. A sinister smile.
Then there is the Winged Monkey.
Everything shown points directly towards the Wicked Witch of the West and a new collaboration inspired by The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
One major detail is already confirmed. Plarium titled the teaser “Another VILLAIN in Teleria | NEW EVENT DUNGEON…”, confirming that this mysterious character will feature as the boss of a new Event Dungeon.
The rest is where things get interesting.
Plarium has yet to reveal the Champion roster or how players will obtain them. Based on RAID’s previous collaboration events, we expect several Legendary Champions to arrive alongside the new dungeon.
Our early prediction is one free Champion, at least one Fusion, a Void Legendary Wicked Witch and two further Legendary Champions.
So, who could follow the Yellow Brick Road into Teleria?

The Wicked Witch Is Our New Event Dungeon Boss

One part of the teaser leaves no room for speculation. Plarium has confirmed that its mysterious new villain will headline a new Event Dungeon.
Her identity has not officially been named, but the clues aren’t subtle.
The teaser shows a tall witch dressed in black, complete with an enormous pointed hat, green skin and a sinister grin. Red gemstones feature throughout her outfit, and one shot focuses heavily on her distinctive pointed boots.
Then Plarium makes the Oz connection even harder to miss.
A golden Winged Monkey appears during the teaser, clutching a mysterious red object. The Winged Monkeys have a famous connection to the Wicked Witch, making her identity about as clear as Plarium can make it without revealing her name.
The bigger question is whether defeating the Witch will be our only interaction with her.
Our prediction is no.
We expect the Wicked Witch of the West to become a playable Void Legendary Champion during Echoes of Oz. That part remains speculation, but she looks like a natural fit for the premium Void slot.
Her potential kit is fascinating too.
Poison immediately comes to mind, alongside Fear, True Fear, Block Buffs or other disruptive effects. The Winged Monkey could even feature directly within her skill animations.
There is plenty Plarium can do with this character beyond making her a boss.
How Many Echoes of Oz Champions Could We Get?
RAID collaborations rarely stop with a single character.
Echoes of Oz gives Plarium a large cast to choose from, and many of its most famous characters translate surprisingly well into RAID.
Our predicted event structure looks something like this:
- 1 free Legendary Champion
- 1 Fusion Legendary Champion
- 1 Void Legendary Champion, potentially the Wicked Witch
- 2 further Legendary Champions through Shards, events or other limited activities
That would give us five Champions.
Conveniently, there are five characters who immediately stand above the rest.
Dorothy: The Free Legendary Champion?

If Plarium wants one Champion to serve as the face of Echoes of Oz, Dorothy is the obvious candidate.
Dorothy sits at the centre of the original story. That makes her our leading prediction for the free Legendary Champion.
Her design would need a serious Telerian makeover.
Rather than copying the traditional appearance directly, Plarium could turn Dorothy into an adventurous warrior thrown into a far more dangerous version of Oz. Her familiar clothing could become layered battle gear, with red magical footwear providing the link back to the original character.
Then there is Toto.
RAID has plenty of Champions with creatures incorporated into their models and animations. Toto could accompany Dorothy on the battlefield, appear during attacks or feature within one of her skills.
Her gameplay could centre around keeping a group together.
A Support role feels natural, with team buffs, Turn Meter effects or even Ally Attack mechanics representing Dorothy gathering her companions.
If Echoes of Oz opens with a free login Legendary, Dorothy gets our vote.
The Scarecrow: Our Fusion Prediction

The Scarecrow feels almost purpose-built for RAID.
Plarium’s artists could take this character in a much darker direction without losing anything that makes him recognisable.
Picture a towering scarecrow packed with cursed straw. Torn clothing hangs from his frame, black birds circle above him and green magical energy burns through the gaps in his body.
You can already picture him standing among RAID’s Undead Hordes.
His search for a brain gives Plarium plenty of material for his skills too.
Fear and True Fear immediately fit the Scarecrow theme. Turn Meter manipulation, skill cooldown effects or other forms of control could represent his connection with intelligence and thought.
His straw body opens another possibility.
Fire could interact with his Passive in some way, giving him a unique relationship with HP Burn.
Of all the characters outside Dorothy and the Wicked Witch, the Scarecrow feels like our strongest Fusion Champion candidate.
A dark fantasy version could become one of the standout designs of the entire collaboration.
The Tin Man: A New Defence Monster?

The Tin Man practically designs himself as a RAID Champion.
Heavy armour. A huge axe. A missing heart.
Give that concept to RAID’s character team and you have the foundations for a Legendary Defence Champion.
His classic metal body could become a massive enchanted suit of armour. Green Emerald City energy could shine between the plates, with an empty chamber or magical mechanical heart built into his chest.
His skill set has several natural directions.
Increase DEF, Strengthen, Shield and Ally Protection all fit his heavily armoured design. His axe gives him enough offensive identity to hit hard at the same time.
The missing heart offers something far more interesting.
Plarium could build his Passive around finding or gaining a heart during battle. Healing allies, receiving buffs or protecting teammates could build stacks that change his abilities.
He could start cold and mechanical, then become stronger as the fight continues.
The Tin Man feels like one of the safest predictions for the wider Echoes of Oz Champion roster.
The Cowardly Lion: Turning Fear Into Power

Then we have the Cowardly Lion.
This character fits RAID incredibly well.
Plarium already has an entire faction filled with humanoid beasts through the Skinwalkers. A huge lion warrior wearing Oz-inspired armour could slot straight into that group.
His character theme gives Plarium an obvious gameplay hook too.
The Cowardly Lion wants courage.
RAID already has two mechanics perfectly suited to that story: Fear and True Fear.
Imagine a Passive that punishes enemies for trying to place either debuff on him.
Instead of losing his turn, the Cowardly Lion could convert Fear into Increase ATK, Increase C. DMG, Turn Meter or even an Extra Turn.
Plarium could take that concept further by making him stronger each time enemies attack him.
That creates a Champion who literally finds his courage during battle.
An Attack or HP-based Legendary Cowardly Lion feels like another strong candidate for Echoes of Oz.
Could the Wizard Himself Take a Spot?

There is one obvious problem with our predicted line-up.
Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion and Wicked Witch already give us five Champions.
That leaves out the Wizard of Oz himself.
The Wizard has plenty of potential for RAID.
His connection to the Emerald City could produce one of the most visually striking Champions in the collaboration. Plarium could build him around green magical effects, elaborate machinery and illusions.
His actual character gives them an interesting direction too.
Rather than becoming a traditional damage-dealing mage, the Wizard could rely on tricks and deception. Buff manipulation, Veil, Perfect Veil and other deceptive mechanics would suit him.
He remains one of the strongest candidates to replace a member of Dorothy’s travelling group.
Don’t Rule Out Glinda

Glinda the Good Witch creates another possibility.
She provides a direct counterpart to the Wicked Witch and gives Plarium another character with huge visual potential.
Glinda feels like a natural Support Champion.
Healing, cleansing, reviving, Shields and protective buffs could all feature in her kit. Her design could lean heavily into magical armour and the bright side of Oz, creating a sharp contrast with the Wicked Witch.
The problem is space.
If we only receive five Champions, somebody has to miss out.
Dorothy feels almost impossible to exclude. The Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion form her iconic group of companions. The Wicked Witch appears to be standing directly in front of us in the teaser.
That leaves the Wizard and Glinda fighting for places that might not exist.
Of course, Plarium could simply give us more than five Champions.
Could the Winged Monkey Be More Important Than We Think?

There is one final character worth watching.
The Winged Monkey receives a very deliberate appearance in the teaser.
It could simply form part of the Wicked Witch’s animations or Event Dungeon mechanics. That seems like the most likely explanation.
But what if it doesn’t?
Plarium could turn the Winged Monkey concept into another Champion. A monstrous RAID interpretation would fit easily within factions such as the Skinwalkers.
It could even become part of the Event Dungeon itself, acting as an additional enemy or mechanic during the Wicked Witch encounter.
For now, we’re betting on the monkey being connected directly to the Witch.
Still, its prominent appearance feels worth remembering once the full reveal arrives.
Our Predicted Echoes of Oz Champion Line-Up

Putting everything together, this is our early prediction for Echoes of Oz:
- Dorothy – Free Legendary Champion
- Scarecrow – Legendary Fusion Champion
- Wicked Witch of the West – Void Legendary Champion and confirmed Event Dungeon villain
- Tin Man – Legendary Champion
- Cowardly Lion – Legendary Champion
The Wizard of Oz and Glinda are our two biggest alternatives.
Only one piece of that prediction is currently locked in. Plarium has confirmed that the villain shown in the teaser will appear in a new Event Dungeon. Her design and the Winged Monkey heavily point towards the Wicked Witch of the West.
Everything surrounding the playable Champions, their rarities and their acquisition methods remains speculation until Plarium reveals more.
That is half the fun of a teaser like this.

Those are awesome depictions!! I normally do not do the collaborations. I take the freebie, say Thank you Plarium, and call it a day. However, if the champs looked like these, I fear I would do significant damage to my wallet. They are great looking. I was not excited when I heard about the event, but these changed my mind. I am looking forward to the reveal of Plarium’s interpretation of them to see how they compare. By the way, Ash has a short video up talking about copyright/trademark issues that prevent Plarium from using depictions/ideas from the movie. So we know right away that they will NOT look like the above. Hopefully, they will give us all seven of them, and find a place for the monkey!
terrible ai slop illustrations.
the wonderful witch of the west as the main dungeon hero protecting the realm from the four invading villains is a top-notch unit in the game.
