This is an initial review of Pelagus The Wavewalker, and ratings are subject to change following further playtesting.

Pelagus is a control focused support who excels at disrupting enemy speed and skills, combining cleanse, Decrease SPD, Weaken, Turn Meter steal, and passive Turn Meter control to outpace and shut down both waves and bosses.

This fearsome mage was once the protector of the gates that safeguarded the surroundings of the Argonites’ realm, standing against any who dared to intrude. However, Pelagus was eventually swept away by the very ancient seas he defended. Believed lost by his people, he later rose once more… no longer fully human, but reborn as part sea creature, wielding powers drawn from the depths below.

This champion’s kit revolves around manipulating enemy speed and skills, while also providing strong debuff support. Through his A2, he can Remove all buffs from allies before placing Decrease SPD and Weaken on enemies. This makes him an excellent counter to buff heavy encounters, while also helping allies outpace enemies and deal increased damage.

Target selection becomes key for his A3, where he places both Block Passive Skills and Enfeeble on a target, while also stealing their Turn Meter. You’ll want to prioritise high threat enemies with impactful passives, such as Marius, to force weak hits and disable their passive, while also helping you cycle back to your next turn faster. This ability is also effective against bosses like Dark Fae, with the stealing of Turn Meter.

Passively, this champion also Ensnares the enemy with the lowest Turn Meter at the end of each of his turns, reducing the effectiveness of any Turn Meter increases they receive. At the same time, he boosts his own Turn Meter whenever enemies gain Turn Meter, improving his turn cycling. To round off his kit, his triple-hit A1 can steal a portion of Turn Meter, adding further control and consistency.

Understanding Arena Roles

Champions normally form specific roles within an arena team. Our ratings define the roles that the champion fits and rates them on their ability to perform the roles. Below you can see a breakdown of all of our roles.

Cleanser

Champions with the Cleanser role will use their skills to remove debuffs and keep them from being re-applied.

Crowd Control

Champions with the Crowd Control role will use their skills to place soft (i.e. Provoke or Taunt) and hard (i.e Freeze or Stun) debuffs to disable enemy champions.

Damage

Champions with the Damage role will have skills that deal significant damage and are designed to defeat enemy champions.

Damage Absorption

Champions with the Damage Absorption role will have skills or effects that reduce the incoming damage your team takes. This can be through passive damage reduction or by applying skills such as Strengthen or Shields.

Healer

Champions with the Healer role will have skills that restore your champion's Health including Continuous Heals.

Debuffer

Champions with the Debuffer role will have skills that place debuffs that don't fall into Crowd Control or Skill Manipulator roles i.e. Decrease Defence. These champions may also have skills that remove Buffs.

Revive

Champions with the Revive role will have skills that bring your ally champions back from the dead including Revive on Death buffs.

Skill Manipulator

Champions with the Skill Manipulator role will have skills that increase enemy skill cooldowns or reduce your ally skill cooldowns.

Speed Manipulator

Champions with the Speed Manipulator role will have skills that affect the turn meter of your allies or enemies. This includes speed buffs and debuffs aswell as direct turn meter effects.
