Varkos Headsplitter Overview

This is an initial review of Varkos Headsplitter, and ratings are subject to change following further playtesting.

Varkos is a retaliation focused damage dealer who thrives when joining ally attacks and counterattacking, using powerful ignore protection attacks and Block Revive mechanics to eliminate key targets, making him particularly effective in PvP and general PvE content.

Rising from the lairs of the Dark Elves comes Varkos Headsplitter, a fearsome warrior who thrives when led into battle by his allies. Fuelled by vengeance and bloodshed, he strikes back at those who dare attack him, proving his dominance by sending his foes to the underworld for eternity.

Varkos’s kit revolves around enhancing his power when joining ally attacks or retaliating through Counterattacks, especially as his passive enables Block Revive whenever he kills an enemy through either of these effects. These effects can also trigger an additional hit, increasing his damage output and improving his chances of finishing off targets.

Through his A3, he places Increase DEF, Counterattack, and Shatter on himself before granting an Extra Turn. This combination directly boosts both his damage and survivability, sets him up for retaliation, and allows him to immediately follow up with one of his offensive skills. His A1 ignores Unkillable, making it particularly effective against champions like Leorius or enemies under Swift Parry.

As for his A2, this potential triple hit attack ignores both Block Damage and Shields, making it great for taking down enemies protected by these effects, such as teams supported by champions like Hilvi or Odin. Being able to use this skill while joining ally attacks instead of his A1 can increase his kill potential. To round off the kit, Varkos has a passive 15% chance to join ally attacks, increased to 25% when the attacking ally is a Dark Elf, creating more opportunities to deal damage and trigger Block Revives.

Understanding Arena Roles

Champions normally form specific roles within an arena team. Our ratings define the roles that the champion fits and rates them on their ability to perform the roles. Below you can see a breakdown of all of our roles.

Cleanser

Champions with the Cleanser role will use their skills to remove debuffs and keep them from being re-applied.

Crowd Control

Champions with the Crowd Control role will use their skills to place soft (i.e. Provoke or Taunt) and hard (i.e Freeze or Stun) debuffs to disable enemy champions.

Damage

Champions with the Damage role will have skills that deal significant damage and are designed to defeat enemy champions.

Damage Absorption

Champions with the Damage Absorption role will have skills or effects that reduce the incoming damage your team takes. This can be through passive damage reduction or by applying skills such as Strengthen or Shields.

Healer

Champions with the Healer role will have skills that restore your champion's Health including Continuous Heals.

Debuffer

Champions with the Debuffer role will have skills that place debuffs that don't fall into Crowd Control or Skill Manipulator roles i.e. Decrease Defence. These champions may also have skills that remove Buffs.

Revive

Champions with the Revive role will have skills that bring your ally champions back from the dead including Revive on Death buffs.

Skill Manipulator

Champions with the Skill Manipulator role will have skills that increase enemy skill cooldowns or reduce your ally skill cooldowns.

Speed Manipulator

Champions with the Speed Manipulator role will have skills that affect the turn meter of your allies or enemies. This includes speed buffs and debuffs aswell as direct turn meter effects.
