What Destroy Max HP Does in Raid

Destroy MAX HP is an effect that reduces an enemy’s maximum HP, preventing them from healing back to full health for the rest of the battle. Unlike many effects, it does not require Accuracy, as it is applied as part of the skill’s effect rather than being subject to an Accuracy versus Resistance check.

This effect is especially valuable against enemies with large health pools, making them easier to defeat as the fight progresses by reducing the amount they can heal. It’s particularly effective against bosses such as the Scarab King in Doom Tower, while only rare abilities, such as Restore MAX HP, can recover health lost through this effect.

Most Champions apply Destroy MAX HP through single target attacks, though some, such as Embrys, can affect multiple enemies. The amount of MAX HP destroyed is typically based on the damage dealt, a fixed percentage, a stacking mechanic, or a unique passive effect.

Why Destroy Max HP champions are valuable

Destroy MAX HP is especially valuable against enemies & bosses with large health pools or those that can constantly restore their own health through healing or stolen buffs. Reducing their maximum HP limits how much they can recover over the course of a fight, making encounters such as the Fire Knight, Scarab King or Amius far more manageable.

Against the Scarab King, this is represented by the purple bar above its HP, which depletes as more MAX HP is destroyed, gradually reducing the effectiveness of its passive damage reduction. This is a unique mechanic exclusive to the Scarab King, with Destroy MAX HP being the primary way to weaken this shield and deal increased damage, unless you’re relying on alternative strategies such as Poison to defeat the boss instead.

Against waves and in Arena, Destroy MAX HP acts more as a complementary mechanic, helping wear down enemies that rely on constant healing or repeated recovery. It also synergises well with effects such as the Life Drain gemstone or Life Harvest Blessing, reducing the MAX HP of revived enemies and making them easier to eliminate if they return to the fight.

Against dominant HP based Champions, Destroy MAX HP is an effective way to wear them down by reducing the stat that gives them their durability and, for many, their damage potential, making them easier to deal with as the fight progresses.

Best Areas to Use Destroy Max HP champions

Scarab King & Bosses

This effect is at its strongest against bosses that either have large health pools or can repeatedly heal themselves. Against the Scarab King, destroying its MAX HP depletes the purple bar above its health, weakening its passive damage reduction and allowing your team to deal more damage as the shield is broken down. This is a unique interaction exclusive to the Scarab King.

It’s also effective against bosses such as Spirit Keep and Amius, permanently limiting how much health they can recover and making longer fights much easier to manage.

Arena Battles

In PvP, Destroy MAX HP is a useful way to wear down healing focused teams, reducing how much health they can recover throughout the fight. It also pairs well with the Life Harvest Blessing, destroying the MAX HP of revived enemies and making each subsequent revival far less effective. Against HP based Champions, it also reduces the very stat they scale from, lowering both their survivability and, for many, their damage output over time.

PVE Waves

Against waves, it can help gradually wear down durable enemies that rely on healing or recovery, making each encounter easier as they lose the ability to return to full health. It works best as a complementary mechanic alongside your team’s damage rather than a primary strategy for clearing waves quickly.

How to build Destroy Max HP champions

Speed & Stat Requirements

Firstly, build your Destroy MAX HP Champion around their primary role and how they apply the effect. For damage dealers, prioritise the relevant scaling stat (ATK, DEF, or HP), alongside 100% C.Rate (unless guaranteed by their kit) and high C.DMG, as many Destroy MAX HP effects scale based on the damage inflicted.

Champions that destroy MAX HP through fixed percentages, stacking mechanics, or unique passives should instead focus on the stats that support their role. This may include Accuracy for debuffers like Stokk, or Speed and survivability to consistently cycle their abilities, alongside strong gear sets, Relics, Masteries, Blessings, and skill upgrades to maximise their overall effectiveness.

Recommended Artifact Sets

The best gear sets depend on how they apply the effect. For those whose Destroy MAX HP scales from damage dealt, sets like Savage, Lethal, and Merciless are among the strongest thanks to their Ignore DEF effects. Merciless is particularly powerful for PvE, offering offensive stats, cooldown reduction, and a chance for Extra Turns.

For more flexible builds, especially in PvP, Mercurial is an excellent option for added protection and survivability. Alternatively, Stoneskin pairs well with lower piece offensive sets such as Zeal, Savage, Cruel, or Lethal. Hybrid Champions that also bring debuffs or utility can combine these with Perception or Feral to reach important Accuracy and Speed thresholds while maintaining damage output.

Tips for using Destroy Max HP champions

Skull-Lord

Destroy MAX HP Champions are most effective in longer encounters where enemies have large HP or reliable healing. Rather than relying on the effect alone, use it alongside strong damage dealers to steadily wear enemies down while limiting how much health they can recover.

For Champions who scales from damage dealt, prioritise offensive stats and effects such as Ignore DEF to maximise the amount destroyed with each attack. Champions that apply the effect through passives or unique mechanics instead benefit from taking more turns and staying alive, allowing them to consistently build up destroyed MAX HP over the course of the fight.

In PvP, it’s an excellent complement against healing focused and HP based teams, while pairing well with the Life Harvest Blessing to make revived enemies progressively easier to defeat.
