What Hunter’s Gaze Does in Raid: Shadow Legends
In this guide, we explore the power of Hunter’s Gaze in Raid: Shadow Legends. Learn how this unique debuff isolates priority targets by bypassing many of their defensive mechanics, which Champions can apply it, and where you’ll get the most value from using it across PvE and PvP.
What Hunter’s Gaze does in raid
How the Hunter’s Gaze Debuff Works
Hunter’s Gaze is a unique debuff that isolates a target by allowing direct skill damage to bypass many of the game’s strongest defensive mechanics. While under the effect, damage ignores Unkillable, Block Damage, Increase DEF, Strengthen, Ally Protection, Veil, Perfect Veil, and Shield buffs. It also prevents damage from being decreased, redirected, blocked, or transferred, making it a great debuff for taking down priority targets.
It’s important to note that Hunter’s Gaze only affects damage dealt directly by skills. Damage from debuffs, passives, masteries, blessings, or other indirect sources will still interact with enemy mechanics as normal.
There are still ways to counter the debuff. Champions can Evade attacks while under Hunter’s Gaze, making Evade a direct counter to its effect. Affinity also remains important, as weak hits can prevent the debuff from being applied unless a future Champion is able to place it without relying on a hit.
Hunter’s Gaze was first introduced through the Chimera Clan Boss before becoming available on the Legendary Champion Predator. With only one Champion currently capable of placing it, we expect more Hunter’s Gaze Champions to be introduced in future updates.
Why Hunter’s Gaze Is valuable
Hunter’s Gaze is valuable because it allows your damage dealers to focus down priority targets without many of the defensive mechanics that would normally keep them alive. This makes it much easier to eliminate key enemies quickly, rather than needing to wait for buffs to expire or work around their defensive utility.
With Predator currently being the only Champion capable of placing Hunter’s Gaze, the debuff is limited to a single target. This makes target selection especially important, allowing you to isolate the highest priority enemy and remove them faster. While it has the greatest impact in PvP, it can also be valuable for taking down enemies in Faction Wars, Doom Tower, Grim Forest, and other wave based PvE content.
Best areas to use Hunter’s Gaze
Arena
Hunter’s Gaze can be strong in PvP, making it much easier to defeat key targets that would otherwise be difficult to take down through their defensive buffs and mechanics. By nullifying these effects, your damage dealers can focus on securing kills without needing to first remove or wait out the enemy’s defences.
General PVE
Hunter’s Gaze is a strong debuff for PvE waves, allowing you to focus down enemies that may otherwise be protected. It also prevents your direct skill damage from being decreased, blocked, redirected, or transferred, making it much easier to defeat affected targets before they have the chance to threaten your team.
Hunter’s Gaze champions in raid
Here we’ll be highlighting the Hunter’s Gaze Champions in Raid: Shadow Legends, showcasing the strengths they bring. Currently, only one Champion is capable of placing Hunter’s Gaze, but we’ll continue to update this guide as more Champions with the debuff are released.
Predator is currently the only Champion capable of placing Hunter’s Gaze, applying the debuff through his A3 to isolate priority targets and bypass many of their defensive mechanics. If he defeats an enemy under the effect, they cannot be revived and Hunter’s Gaze transfers to another target, allowing him to continue picking off enemies one by one.
He pairs this with strong self survivability through Perfect Veil and stacking his Evade chances, while counterattacking whenever he successfully Evades. His AoE attack also destroys enemy MAX HP and gains Ignore DEF under Veil, making him a strong single target champion with solid wave clearing potential.
How to build Hunter’s Gaze Champions
Build Focus
Hunter’s Gaze requires Accuracy to land, though Predator is an exception. While under Veil or Perfect Veil, his Hunter’s Gaze cannot be resisted. As more Champions capable of placing the debuff are introduced, those without an irresistible application will need enough Accuracy to land it consistently. As a general guideline, aim for around 25 more ACC than your target’s RES, using tools such as the Raid Stages Tool to identify the requirements for specific encounters.
Beyond this, build around the Champion’s primary role. Damage dealers such as Predator should prioritise their primary scaling stat alongside 100% C.Rate and high C.DMG to maximise their damage, while more supportive Hunter’s Gaze Champions should focus on HP, DEF, Speed, and enough Accuracy to apply the debuff reliably.
Recommended Artifact Sets
As for Artifact Sets, they should focus on helping you apply the debuff consistently while maximising the Champion’s primary role. Accuracy focused sets such as Perception, Pinpoint, and Feral are excellent choices for reaching the necessary thresholds, while offensive sets like Savage, Lethal, or Merciless , alongside sets like Stoneskin for PVP are ideal for damage dealers such as Predator to capitalise on what the debuff enables.
As more Champions capable of placing this debuff are introduced, support focused options may instead prefer defensive sets alongside Accuracy to improve their survivability while continuing to isolate priority targets for allies to take down.
Tips for using Hunter’s Gaze Champions
Hunter’s Gaze is most effective when used against the highest priority target on the enemy team. Since current applications are single target, choosing the right enemy is crucial, allowing your damage dealers to eliminate Champions that would otherwise be difficult to bring down through their defensive mechanics.
If your Champion relies on landing the debuff through an attack, be mindful of affinity, as weak hits can prevent it from being applied. Once Hunter’s Gaze is active, focus your hardest hitting skills into the affected target to make the most of the debuff before switching your attention elsewhere.
