Borgoth Solo Champion Guide

As discussed in our full Borgoth guide, the Scarab King is a difficult Boss to beat. Many players will find that a solo Champion is the ideal way to take him down, so we’ve created this Borgoth solo Champion guide that lists some of the best Champions to use and explains how to build them.

We’ve split this list into Champions that don’t need Bloodshield Accessories and ones that do. These Accessories can only be earned through CvC but are incredibly strong against Borgoth.

Bloodshield works by granting your Champion a [Shield] Buff with a strength of 5% of the damage your Champion deals to the enemy. What’s important against Borgoth is not the strength of the [Shield], however – it’s that your Champion will have a constant [Shield] during the fight. This completely neutralises Borgoth’s Passive counterattack for the entire battle.

No Bloodshield Needed

Vergis

Vergis is one of the tankiest Epic Champions in the game and this is what makes him arguably the best budget option for soloing Borgoth. His Passive ability gives him a [Shield] whenever he is attacked (which prevents Borgoth chaining his A1 attacks) and a [Continuous Heal] Buff to keep him alive.

In terms of stats, it is important to build Vergis with enough resistance so that his [Continuous Heal Buff] will not be stolen. After that, HP and Defence are the next priority, plus a moderate amount of Speed. Check the Optimiser to see the exact stats people are running for each difficulty of this boss.

Due to his low damage output, you will need to gear Vergis in a 4-piece Destroy or Toxic Set to beat the Boss before the turn limit. A 2-piece Immortal Set is also recommended for extra survivability.

Vergis can beat both Doom Tower versions of Borgoth (Spirit and Force) since he is Spirit Affinity. Force will be easier to beat since the Boss will often weak hit you.

Bloodsheild Accessories are not needed for Vergis.

Urost the Soulcage

Urost is the most well-known solo Champion for Borgoth. Due to his huge health pool boosted by his Passive, plus his Passive [Poison] Debuff and A1 [Shield], he can easily defeat this Boss which much lower gear investment than any other Champion. The only downside is that it takes a few months to unlock this Champion from Doom Tower Hard secret rooms.

Simply building him in a 4-piece Regeneration Set with enough accuracy to land his [Poison] Debuffs, plus some defensive stats, is enough to win—no Resistance and almost no Speed needed. Check the Optimiser to see the exact stats people are running for each difficulty of this Boss.

Booking Urost will make the run slightly faster but is absolutely not necessary!

Bloodshield Accessories are not needed for Urost.

Conellia

Conellia is one of the most underrated Champions in the game and she shines as a solo Champion against Borgoth. With her A3 ability she can fully heal herself on a 2-turn cooldown, making it very easy to survive against the Boss.

For her stats, it is mandatory to build her with enough Resistance to resist the Debuffs from the Boss, plus a decent amount of HP and Defence. Check the Optimiser to see the exact stats people are running for each difficulty of this Boss.

Due to her low damage output and limited number of attacks, you will need to gear Conellia in a 4-piece Toxic Set to beat the Boss before the turn limit.

Bloodshield Accessories are not needed for Conellia.

Toragi the Frog

Toragi is the final Champion who can solo Borgoth without Bloodshield—but only when Borgoth is Spirit or Magic Affinity. If Borgoth is Force Affinity, the gear requirements will increase massively, since he will be strong Affinity against Toragi!

Toragi is perfect for this Boss since he brings [Poison] through his Passive, a RES Aura, a [Shield] and self-healing on his A3, and a [Decrease ATK] A1.

To gear him as a solo champion he should be in 4-piece Regeneration. He will need enough Resistance to resist the Boss’s Buff removals and Debuffs, plus enough Accuracy to place his own Debuffs. After that, HP and Defense are key. Remember that his Aura can make the Resistance requirements much easier.

Bloodshield Accessories are not needed for Toragi, but they will make the run more consistent.

Bloodshield Needed

Skull Lord Var-Gall

Skull Lord Var-Gall-Portrait

Skull Lord Var-Gall received a huge Buff to his ability to destroy Max HP with his Passive a couple of years ago and this has turned him into a very strong Borgoth solo Champion. Whenever Skull Lord is attacked, he will destroy the enemy’s Max HP, enabling him to break Borgoth’s unique shield extremely quickly, then use regular damage to wear him down.

To keep Skull Lord alive, you will need a 4-piece Regeneration Set and a Bloodshield Accessory plus a good amount of HP and Defence. To kill the Boss quickly, you will need either Warmaster or Giant Slayer Masteries.

Bloodshield Accessories are strongly advised to make the run more consistent.

In short, almost any Champion with decent defensive stats and a good amount of [Poison] Debuffs can solo Borgoth if they have 4-piece Regeneration gear and a Bloodshield Accessory. Here are some additional recommendations:

Mithrala

Mithrala Lifebane

Mithrala is a great option since she is a free Legendary Champion earned from Hydra Clan Boss. She has a lot of [Poison] Debuffs through her A1, a ton of resistance through her Passive, and a big [Shield] on her A3.

Tomb Lord

Tomb Lord is another great option thanks to the huge number of [Poison] Debuffs on his A2, the [Decrease ATK] component of his A3, and the [Decrease SPD] from his A1, helping him to survive. He is also Spirit Affinity which is ideal for both rotations of Borgoth in Doom Tower.

Orn

Mycelliac Priest Orn is a fantastic Epic option, being basically a tankier version of Tomb Lord without as many Debuffs.

Fronzen Banshee

Even a Rare champion like Frozen Banshee can work with this build, since she brings so many [Poison] Debuffs, but beware for Force Affinity Borgoth as this will drastically increase the stat requirements for her.

Richtoff

If there’s one thing Richtoff is good at, it’s breaking Borgoth’s shield. In addition to a triple-hit [Poison] placing A2, he brings some enemy Max HP damage with his A1, which with his Spirit Affinity makes him uniqely effective against Borgoth.

It’s weird not seeing Lonatharil here, seems like he was made to do exactly this.
