What Is a Healer in Raid?
Healing is the primary way of recovering HP lost during battle, allowing your Champions to withstand incoming damage and keep your team alive. It comes in many forms, from healing the entire team or a single ally to Continuous Heals and self sustain effects that recover HP based on the damage a Champion deals. While healing is most commonly found on Support Champions alongside other utility, some damage dealers also incorporate healing into their kits to improve their own survivability.
Healing is especially important across every area of Raid: Shadow Legends, helping your team withstand boss mechanics, PvE waves, and burst damage in PvP. When combined with other forms of support such as debuffs, revives, Shields, Strengthen, Turn Meter boosts, and enough damage to defeat your enemies, healers become a key part of building consistent and reliable teams.
Different types of Healing Champions
Healers MAX HP
Champions that heal based on a percentage of their own MAX HP can provide strong and consistent recovery for the team. Increasing the healer’s HP directly improves the amount restored, while also making them more durable and better able to continue supporting allies throughout the fight.
Target’s MAX HP
Champions that heal allies by a percentage of ‘their MAX HP’ are also valuable, providing healing that scales with the HP of each individual ally. This means Champions with higher HP receive larger heals, while lower HP allies recover less, creating some fluctuation in the overall healing value across your team. Even so, this remains one of the strongest forms of healing for keeping teams sustained.
Continuous Heal
Continuous Heal restores either 7.5% or 15% of a Champion’s MAX HP at the start of each of their turns, rather than providing an instant heal. Because of this, it excels at providing steady sustain throughout a fight, with Champions taking more turns benefiting from its healing.
Unlike traditional healing skills, Continuous Heals rely on the affected Champion getting a turn before any HP is recovered. However, Champions such as Senna and Wythir the Crowned can instantly activate Continuous Heals, immediately triggering the stored healing without having to wait for the next turn.
Passive
Champions such as Brogni heal allies based on 25% of the damage absorbed by his Shields, Doompriest restores HP to the team at the start of every turn, while the likes of Mavara heals allies whenever for every 16 buffs enemies recieve. While often more niche than traditional healers, passive healing can improve your team’s survivability when combined with other forms of sustain.
HP Equalize
HP Equalization rebalances the current HP of your team, most commonly bringing allies in line with the Champion who currently has the highest HP. This is especially effective when paired with a durable, high HP Champion, allowing vulnerable allies to recover a large amount of HP. In situations where one ally remains healthy while the rest of the team is close to defeat, HP Equalization can even provide greater recovery than a traditional healing skill.
Some Champions also bring unique variations of this mechanic. For example, Theodosia’s passive equalizes all allies to the team’s average HP level, helping spread HP more evenly across the team after taking heavy damage.
Multi Role Healers
Multi-role healers combine reliable healing with valuable defensive or utility effects, allowing them to fulfil several roles within a team. Alongside keeping allies healthy, they may also provide buffs, debuffs, Speed manipulation, Ally Protection, Increase ATK, revives, or other forms of support that strengthen the wider team.
Damage Dealers/ Swap HP/ Leech
Leech allows allies to heal for 18% of the damage they deal to enemies under the debuff, providing a consistent source of sustain throughout an encounter. While it’s commonly found on Support Champions, many damage dealers also place Leech to keep both themselves and their team sustained as they attack.
Some damage dealers also have skills that heal directly based on the damage they inflict, functioning similarly to Leech without requiring the debuff to be active. In some cases, these self healing effects restore even more HP.
HP Swap is a unique mechanic that exchanges the current HP of the user with their target, often putting enemies into a vulnerable position while greatly improving the user’s own survivability. Choosing the right target is key, as swapping with a healthy enemy can instantly recover large amounts of HP, while leaving that enemy within range of being finished off.
Best Areas to Use Healers
Healing Champions have value across every area of Raid: Shadow Legends, helping your team withstand incoming damage from bosses, PvE waves, and PvP battles alike. Whether you’re recovering from heavy AoE attacks, maintaining your team through prolonged encounters, or giving allies enough HP to survive the next enemy turn, healing is one of the core forms of sustain in the game.
There are some encounters where healing requires more consideration. Amius, for example, can benefit from your healing under certain mechanics, making it important to counter this with effects such as Heal Reduction. By preventing the boss from recovering HP, you can continue taking advantage of your healing while avoiding the downside of restoring the enemy at the same time.
How to build Healers in raid
Build Focus
Healing doesn’t rely on offensive stats or Accuracy, so each Champion should be built around how they provide their role. For example, Champions whose healing scales from their own MAX HP should heavily invest into HP to maximise both the strength of their heals and their own survivability. Regardless of the type of healer, Speed is one of the most important stats, allowing them to cycle back to their healing skills more often.
Champions that heal through the damage they deal should instead lean into offensive builds. Prioritising their primary scaling stat, 100% C.Rate, and high C.DMG allows them to maximise both their damage output and the amount of HP they recover, while still benefiting from healing provided by the rest of the team.
Core Set Combinations
Here, we’ll break down some of the most effective Artifact Set combinations for different types of Healing Champions, explaining where each excels and how they can enhance a Champion’s role. When building healers, you’ll generally want to prioritise Speed, HP, and DEF through your primary stats and substats, while also considering Accuracy for those who bring important debuffs, or offensive stats for damage dealers who sustain themselves through the damage they inflict.
- Mercurial – A powerful defensive set that provides Speed, sustain, and Total Guard stacks. It’s an excellent choice for support healers, layering valuable defensive stats while making them much harder to take down.
- Protection – Ideal for Champions that place multiple buffs. Alongside strong survivability and stat bonuses, it allows key buffs to become Protected, while the 9-piece bonus increases the damage dealt by your allies.
- Speed focused Sets – Sets such as Speed and Impulse are excellent for helping healers outpace enemies, allowing them to cycle back to their healing skills more often and keep the team sustained.
- Regeneration / Immortal – A strong combination for prolonged encounters, providing constant healing every turn to help the wearer remain in a position to consistently support the team.
- Bolster – Since healers are naturally built with high durability, Bolster is a great option for placing a Protected Shield on the team at the start of battle while also healing the wearer every turn. This is especially valuable for opening phases in PvP and wave-based content.
- Stoneskin – One of the best defensive options for PvP, allowing healers to survive the opening burst and safely take their first turn before beginning to support the team. It also pairs well with Accuracy or offensive sets, depending on the Champion’s role.
- Feral / Pinpoint / Perception – Excellent options for healers that also place debuffs. These sets provide valuable Accuracy and Speed, while Feral and Pinpoint grant increasingly powerful bonuses as you equip more pieces, up to their 9-piece effects.
- Savage / Lethal / Merciless – Best suited for damage dealers that also sustain themselves through healing. Pairing Ignore DEF sets with Accuracy focused gear allows hybrid Champions to maximise both their damage output and utility.
- 4-Piece Merciless / 4-Piece Reflex – A powerful combination for Champions that rely on repeated healing or key utility skills. With multiple sources of cooldown reduction, it allows much faster access to important abilities, greatly improving healing uptime and overall consistency.
- Guardian – The wearer absorbs 10% of the damage dealt to allied Champions while restoring 10% of their own MAX HP every turn. It’s a great way to reduce incoming damage across the team while providing sustain, though it’s best suited to durable healers that can comfortably withstand the redirected damage.
Masteries
Masteries are a core part of building any Champion in Raid: Shadow Legends, with the ideal setup depending on how they provide their healing. Most Healing Champions naturally lean into the Support tree, particularly the left and middle sections, where you can increase the value of your healing, extend the duration of helpful buffs, and choose a Tier 6 mastery that best complements their role.
If your healer also places important debuffs, the Support tree becomes even more valuable. It provides Accuracy throughout the tree before finishing with Eagle Eye for an additional 50 ACC, alongside masteries such as Sniper to increase the chance of placing debuffs, Master Hexer to extend their duration, and Cycle of Magic or Arcane Celerity to help cycle back to key healing and utility skills more often.
Your second mastery tree should then reflect the Champion’s role. Defensive healers typically pair Support with Defence for greater durability, alongside effects such as Retribution and Deterrence to gain counter attacks. Self healing focused damage dealers, meanwhile, often combine Support with Offence, gaining access to Warmaster or Giant Slayer for boss encounters, or Helmsmasher, so Champions can better restore HP through the damage they deal.

Tips for building Healers
- Build your healer around how they restore HP. Champions whose healing scales from their own MAX HP should prioritise high HP, while self healing damage dealers should focus on offensive stats to maximise both their damage and sustain.
- Speed is one of the most valuable stats for almost every healer. Taking more turns allows you to cycle back to healing skills faster, maintain buffs more consistently, and recover your team before incoming damage becomes overwhelming.
- Don’t sacrifice survivability. A healer that falls early can’t support the team, so investing into HP, DEF, and defensive Artifact Sets often provides more value than chasing additional stats elsewhere.
- If your healer also places important debuffs, make sure they have enough Accuracy for the encounter you’re facing. Balancing survivability with sufficient ACC allows them to fulfil both roles without sacrificing consistency.
- Consider the type of healing your Champion provides. Instant heals excel at recovering from heavy burst damage, while Continuous Heals, passive healing, HP Equalization, and Leech all thrive in different situations depending on the encounter.
- Pair healing with other forms of support. Effects such as Shields, Strengthen, Ally Protection, revives, and Turn Meter boosts all complement healing, making it much easier to withstand difficult mechanics and prolonged battles.
- Finally, tailor your Artifact Sets, Blessings, Relics, and Masteries to the Champion’s role. A well rounded build that takes more turns, survives longer, and supports the team consistently will almost always outperform one focused on healing alone.

My favorite healer is Raglin! It’s such a massive boon, with a heal (based on HP and ATK) and a complete cleanse, then ATK and ACC buffs on top of it. The only downside is that it’s a 4-turn cooldown, so she’s gotta be fast.
