Lydia the Deathsiren – Champion Spotlight

Lydia the Deathsiren has been around for a long time, but, with her 6-star soul up for grabs in a Champion Training Tournament this week, we decided this was the perfect time to do an updated Champion Spotlight for her.

Lydia is the final reward for Faction Wars normal difficulty and has been a staple of the meta since her release!

Check out our dedicated Champion Page for Lydia for even more info.

LYDIA SKILLS EXPLAINED

Lydia the Deathsiren

Rather than break down every ability in detail, as we usually do in these Champion Spotlights, for this one we will instead give an overview of why Lydia is still relevant in 2025 since she’s such a well established champion.

SHE HAS ONE OF THE BEST MOVES IN THE GAME

Lydia’s A2, Siren’s Wail, is one of the most value-packed skills in the entire game. AoE Decrease Defence and Weaken together in one move is a Void Legendary calibre ability on its own–check out champions such as Venus, Belanor, or Yncensa for example. Not only does Lydia bring these debuffs, but she also brings Increase Speed and Strengthen for her whole team on the same move as well–these two buffs together would basically qualify for an entire core skill for a typical legendary. This has classically synergised extremely well with Seer’s A3.

In short, Lydia essentially brings two abilities of value in her A2, which has kept her as the premiere option for many teams.

CHIMERA TRIALS

Chimera Clan Boss released at the end of 2024 and one of the key aspects to success is completing as many Trials as possible. Lydia stands out as one of the best champions in the entire game for completing Trials, bringing not only all the core buffs and debuffs of her A2, but opening up the Ram Form with her A1 Fears and the Viper with her A3 Block Active Skills–both rare debuffs which are hard to find on good champions for this fight.

Lydia enables 12 total Trials–to put this in context, we originally thought about dividing Trial Scores by 2 to give a 5-star rating similarly to how we do other ratings on the site, but Lydia has such a high score that the system would have been broken(!)

HOW TO BUILD LYDIA

Best Stats

The key stats to look for on Lydia are:

  1. SPD
  2. ACC
  3. HP

There are several ways to build Lydia which can drastically change her stat priority:

  • For a typical build, go for lots of SPD alongside enough ACC to place her debuffs and enough HP/DEF to survive.
  • It’s also possible to build RES (a decent option for Clan Bosses or Faction Wars Hard), by sacrificing some SPD or HP/DEF to do so.
  • Another build adds in high ATK, C.RATE% and C.DMG% as well to maximise her personal damage. This is usually for speed farming dungeons, where every bit of damage will make your runs faster.

Best Gear Sets

The 5 best sets for Lydia are:

  1. Protection
  2. Feral
  3. Merciless
  4. Reflex
  5. Perception

9-pieces of Protection is her most common top-end build, since it gives great stats and a 10% damage boost to the team thanks to her 2 buffs. Protecting her buffs is also very useful for situations where enemies can remove them, such as Chimera or Faction Wars Hard.

9-pieces of Feral is a higher damage option but you lose the protected buffs. Lydia can reliably place 4 debuffs on any target (Decrease Defence, Weaken, Block Buffs, Poison Sensitivity), and even more than that situationally (Brimstone, Fear, and Block Active Skills): this gives you between a 20% to 35% damage boost if you can place them succesfully.

Merciless and Reflex are both good options for reducing her cooldowns. 6-or-9-piece Merciless is the top option for a high damage build.

Perception or other similar sets are good accessible options too; anything giving her key stats is valuable.

BEST BLESSINGS AND RELICS FOR LYDIA

With her champion soul up for grabs in a Champion Training Tournament (or, more realistically, being such a good champion that she’s likely to stay on your wishlist until you eventually get a soul), picking the right Blessing and Relic for Lydia is an important decision for every account.

Best Blessings

There are several great options for Blessings for Lydia:

  1. Cruelty: this adds a ton of damage against all bosses and waves and it’s worth having the highest rank possible on each team.
  2. Brimstone: this is a great option against bosses and is an extra debuff for 9-pc Feral.
  3. Temporal Chains: her best overall arena option, and a decent pick against wave content where enemies get buffs.
  4. Nature’s Wrath: this is the best option if you’re building Lydia for all-out damage.

Best Relics

There are several great options for Relics for Lydia as well:

  1. Murderfang (Mythical Clan Relic): this is particuarly well suited to Lydia since it can trigger off all her counterattacks.
  2. Volcardiac Heart (Mythical Standard Relic): this is a great option for boosting your team’s survivability and fits well if you’re building RES too.
  3. Perched Shadow (Epic Faction Wars Relic): a great budget pick, this will help Lydia cycle through her abilities more often.
  4. Irethi Coronet (Epic Chimera Relic): this is a great option if you’re building Lydia for all-out damage.

BEST AREAS FOR LYDIA

Chimera, Relics, New Champions and More

Lydia is one of the rare champions who earns a prestigious 5-star rating from us! It’s hard to pick best areas for Lydia because she’s pretty much top tier everywhere.

Chimera

Lydia is top tier against every Clan Boss but stands out as particularly good against the Chimera due to the sheer number of Trials she enables and her ease of use as a void affinity champion. If you build her with the lowest C.DMG% on the team, she can even be your Ram Form target.

PvE > PvP

The one piece of advice we would give is to pick between PvP or PvE for building Lydia–and we would recommend PvE for 99% of players.

While Lydia can be viable in Arena, she is so ubiquitously useful against bosses that it’s not worth investing into Arena at the expense of those areas. You’re usually using her for her passive in Arena/Siege anyway, which will work just fine even if she’s not geared in Stoneskin or Reaction etc.

I really love this new spotlight and would love to see even more. The clean and quick infographic is a great complement to the more dedicated page. It’s fantastic to see a current update.
