What Deathbrand Does in RAID: Shadow Legends
Learn how Deathbrand works in RAID: Shadow Legends. Discover how this unique mechanic increases damage potential, which champions use it, and the best ways to maximize or counter its effects.
What Deathbrand Does in RAID: Shadow Legends
Deathbrand is a powerful debuff which places the Block Revive debuff on a target who dies while it is active.
Compared to Block Revive itself, Deathbrand has the advantage that it can be triggered by any killing blow from any champion once the debuff has been applied.
The disadvanage of Deathbrand compared to Block Revive is that it is now tied to a debuff, which means that it can be blocked, resisted, or removed.
Deathbrand and Block Revive are both incredibly powerful, allowing you to counter Revivers in both PvE and PvP–and even counter some difficult bosses!
Champions That Apply Deathbrand
Deathbrand is currently an extremely rare debuff.
Only 4 champions have this debuff at time of writing:
With one mythical, two void legendaries, and a very new Argonites champion making up this set, this is still a very rare debuff at time of writing and will not be encountered very often by the average player.
Best Areas to Use Deathbrand
Arena and Siege
As you can see from the 4 champions listed above, Deathbrand is a debuff which usually is tailored to PvP-specialist champions.
Revive is incredibly common in Arena and Siege and Deathbrand gives you a direct counter to it.
The key strategy in these battles is to Deathbrand and kill the damage dealer. Once this is done, the enemy win condition is usually removed, thereby winning you the fight.
Bosses
This is an excellent counter to three bosses in particular:
- Amius the Lunar Archon in the Cursed City.
- The Frost Spider in Doom Tower and Cursed City.
- The Ice Golem Dungeon minions.
These bosses are notorious for being difficult and for self-reviving. There are also several “Champion Boss” stages in Grim Forest where you will fight Boss versions of champions who can revive, and Deathbrand is a great counter to take out their minions permanently as well.
How to Counter Deathbrand
Debuff Removal
If the Deathbrand debuff is not protected, the easiest counter is to use Remove Debuffs to get rid of it.
Prevention Strategies
Deathbrand will also be blocked by a variety of common buffs:
- Block Debuffs
- Total Guard
- Stoneskin
You can also resist Deathbrand if your RES is high enough in most cases.
Defensive Buffs
Protecting your champions so that they don’t die while the Deathbrand debuff is active turns it into a debuff which has done nothing.
Taunt buffs to redirect attacks to a tanky champion, or placing defensive buffs like Unkillable, Shield, or Strengthen can all counter Deathbrand.
Controlling damage-dealing enemies with things like Stun can also prevent them from landing dangerous attacks on Deathbranded allies.
