What Decrease Resistance Does in Raid

How Decrease Resistance Works
Decrease Resistance lowers an enemy’s RES stat.
Whenever a champion attempts to place a debuff or negative effect, they must pass an ACC vs RES check. When a champion’s ACC equals their target’s RES they have around a 90% success chance; if they have around 25 ACC more than the target’s RES, it is around 95%; if the target has 100 RES more than their ACC, they only have a 10% success chance.
Lowering RES makes it easier for allied champions to land debuffs consistently by lowering the amount of ACC they need to pass this check.
This debuff indirectly increases the effectiveness of an entire team rather than dealing damage itself.
RES vs ACC Examples
Early game bosses (e.g. Dragon 20) have around 200 RES.
You would normally require 225 ACC to reliably place debuffs. If a Decrease RES champion goes first however, lowering the Dragon’s RES to 100, then your subsequent debuffs and effects only need 125 ACC.
Against Hard 10 Dragon, the Dragon has 320 RES. You would normally need 345 ACC on your champions here. However, if a Decrease RES champion goes first, your subsequent debuffs and effects would only need 185 ACC–lower than you would need for baseline Stage 20 Normal difficulty.
Why Decrease Resistance Champions Are Valuable

Improving Debuff Consistency
Decrease Resistance helps teams land important debuffs more reliably.
Some key debuffs you want to maintain in tough boss fights are:
- Decrease DEF
- Weaken
- HP Burn
- Hex
- Provoke
- Block Buffs
- Poison
Consistent debuff application becomes increasingly important in endgame content and bosses can have very high RES.
Bringing a Decrease RES champion can allow your hybrid champions (e.g. damage dealers who need to build damage stats as well as ACC and SPD etc.) can reach the required ACC thresholds without sacrificing too many other stats for ACC.
Supporting High-Resistance Encounters
Some bosses or enemies possess extremely high RES values. Some examples are the Head of Suffering in Hydra Clan Boss, the Chimera Clan Boss, or the Frost Spider in Doom Tower and Cursed City.
Decrease Resistance helps your teams overcome these RES stats when standard champion builds would normally be lacking enough ACC.
Some teams rely on this debuff and/or the Increase ACC buff for their champions to place debuffs at all.

Skeletor

Amoch the First Satrap

Supreme Kael

Yoshi the Drunkard

Yoshi the Drunkard is an amazing champion since his rework, bringing the good ol’ Increase ACC and Decrease RES combo. He’s unique in bringing Decrease ACC paired with HP Burn on an insane 2-turn cooldown on his A2, allowing him to bring incredible uptime with ease. His A1 brings Decrease RES against bosses who are immune to his Stun.
Bayek

Balar the Lost

Klaazag Keyhulk

Klaazag is one of the best boss killers in the entire game, and he brings Decrease RES alongside Decrease ACC, Decrease DEF, and Weaken. His debuffs cannot be resisted by bosses, giving him a 100% success rate at landing the debuff regardless of anything–normally there is always a 3% chance for a RES regardless of how much more ACC you have. He brings an amazing A3 as well and good damage output, making him S-tier for Chimera in particular.
Night Queen Krixia

Krixia is most well-known for her Increase Skill Cooldowns effect, but her A2 combines both Block Buffs and Decrease RES with a 20% Turn Meter pushback. This is a powerful effect which can leave enemy teams completely defenceless in PvP after her A3. It’s not the highlight of her kit by any means but it’s a nifty usage and one of the few times we see this debuff be relevant for PvP.
Starsage Galathir

Galathir is most well-known for his incredible Base Form, but his Alternate Form is an amazing Decrease RES and Increase ACC champion, providing both on the same move, alongside a Stun. The Stun is the PvP standout–but don’t sleep on the classic pairing of Inc ACC/Dec RES here: this opens up tons of Chimera Trials due to the amazing usefulness of Galathir’s Base Form. The sheer amount of Trial and team-building relevant things in his kits are why you’ll see him in so many Chimera Trial teams.
How to Build Decrease Resistance Champions

Accuracy Requirements
Champions applying Decrease RES still need sufficient ACC–indeed, they will need significantly more ACC than the other champions on your team.
Check the Raid Stages Tool to see what RES enemies have for any fight in the game. Your Decrease RES champion should have enough ACC to pass the RES check; the rest of your champions can aim for enough ACC to win once the RES check is 50% lower.
Speed Requirements
Decrease RES champions should generally act before your other debuff champions.
If your primary debuffs don’t need Decrease RES then their turn order isn’t important; simply be faster than your hybrid champions who require the debuff.
Ideally you will build enough SPD to cycle through your turns so that the Decrease RES buff is always active whenever your low ACC champions take a turn.
Recommended Artifact Sets
Good sets for these champions boost SPD, ACC, or give cooldown reduction:
- Perception
- Speed
- Relentless
- Reflex
- Feral
Any relics which provide similar effects are all viable. Check out our dedicated champion pages for tailored recommendations.
Best Areas to Use Decrease Resistance
Chimera
Chimera is one of the strongest use cases for Decrease RES.
Once you start pushing higher difficulties of Chimera you will find that the ACC requirements become incredibly hard to meet: UNM, for example, requires 475 ACC.
To make building champions easier, an Increase ACC buff or a Decrease RES debuff are often required.
Note that Decrease RES also contributes to several Trials in Chimera, garnering you extra rewards.
Doom Tower
Some bosses and waves in Doom Tower have nasty RES values.
The Frost Spider is the most famous example, since she gains a huge RES boost while she is free from HP Burn. The Decrease RES debuff can enable you to land HP Burn, then follow up with further debuffs.
Some waves can have RES Auras which give them much higher RES stats than the other stages at that level. The Decrease RES debuff can counteract this, and enable you to continue progressing without having to totally regear champions for much higher ACC.
Cursed City and Grim Forest
Both of these game modes have some high ACC requirments and strict team building restrictions.
Having champions with Decrease Resistance can help you to be consistent with landing debuffs, even when your team is limited to some of your weaker champions.
