What Wave Clear Means in Raid

What are Waves?
“Waves” refers to rounds in many Dungeons, Faction Wars stages, Grim Forest, etc. (most PvE content in the game!) where you are fighting non-boss enemies.
Campaign farming is one of the best examples of wave clearing in RAID.
There’s quite a bit of overlap between waves and PvP content, since you are fighting actual champions in both forms of content. In PvP content though, actual players will generally have strong builds on their champions, compared to PvE content where champion may not have any build at all but simply have massively boosted base stats (HP, ATK, DEF, RES, ACC, and sometimes SPD; they often only have the base C.RATE% and C.DMG%).
Why Fast Wave Clearing Matters
In Dungeons such as the Potion Keeps or Dragon, or in Faction Wars or Campaign, clearing through waves is 2/3rds or possibly even the entire 3 rounds of a stage. The time it takes to clear these waves is a big portion of the battle, so cutting down that time will cut down the overall time needed for farming these stages substantially.
What Makes a Good Wave Clear Champion

Strong AoE Damage
Champions with powerful AoE damage (nukers) are key to clearing waves; you are fighting multiple enemies, so you want strong attacks that hit all enemies.
You want a champion who can wipe out an enemy wave without needing too many buffs or debuffs from allies if possible.
Poisons, Burns, and Explosions
Champions who can place multiple Poisons or HP Burns, paired with champions who can Activate those debuffs are also a very viable form of waveclear.
Cooldown and Skill Cycling
Unless you have a special team setup, a nuker with one big AoE attack on a 5-turn cooldown is not going to be as useful as a nuker who has two strong AoE attacks on 3-turn cooldowns: they simply won’t attack as often. Some champions can even provide powerful AoE attacks on every turn, making them very valuable for waves.
Setting up your team presets and team compositions correctly so you have powerful AoE attacks prepared for every wave will make a big impact on how quickly you can farm content in RAID.
Best Wave Clear Champions in Raid
Here we’ve listed 10 of the most best wave clear champions in RAID: Shadow Legends. This list is not exhaustive, but it should steer you in the right direction for knowing what makes these types of champions so powerful! Check out our Champion Tier List for more info.
Kael

Kael represents ALL the starter champions here; they all have great early/mid-game wave clear potential. Each starter champion has a strong AoE nuke which only needs 85% C.RATE to crit, making them a fantastic budget pick for campaign farming, and clearing waves in all normal difficulty Dungeons. Watch out for enemies who are Force affinity, as you have a 35% chance to weak hit them with your starter, which will slow things down a lot.
Fellhound

Fellhound is a campaign farming specialist and is not very useful anywhere else. He is actually the fastest Brutal 12-3 campaign farmer in the entire game. This is because he has an AoE A1 with an incredibly fast animation: with decent gear, Fellhound will one-shot each wave, clearing through Brutal 12-3 in about 5 seconds. This can add up to a huge amount of time saved as hundreds–or even thousands–of campaign runs pile up.
Mistrider Daithi

Akemtum

Seer

Seer is a very unique nuker, specialising in wave clear and being weak against most bosses. Her A3 deals damage scaling off Enemy MAX HP and the number of buffs on your team; when setup correctly this is one of the hardest hitting attacks in RAID, making her ideal for clearing through tough PvE waves. Due to her long cooldown, you will need a good reset champion like Prince Kymar to enable her to hit max potential.
Thor Faehammer

Thor is the legendary example of a “good everywhere” AoE nuker, bringing two hard-hitting AoE attacks on short cooldowns. Thor is an expert at ripping through enemy waves, and can even put out respectable damage against most bosses. His main weakness is that he’s a glass cannon; he brings good damage, but nothing to keep himself alive.
Kalvalax

Kalvalax is a very unique Poison-based nuker, placing 4 Poison debuffs on all enemies with his passive at the start of the round. This lets him deal huge damage to enemies without ever needing to take a turn! He’s particularly good when paired with a Poison Explosion champion, since they can remove the need for enemies to take a turn as well.
Teodor the Savant

Teodor is a great example of a Poison Explosion champion, bringing the ability to instantly activate Poison debuffs on all enemies. He’s unique in extending debuffs before doing this, meaning that he doesn’t remove Poisons like other similar champions do. He can do the same with HP Burns. Finally, he also brings his own AoE Poisons, letting him be a totally solo-sufficient Poison Exploder.
Marius the Gallant

Marius is perhaps the best overall nuker in RAID, bringing incredible damage alongside incredible utility. His 3-hit AoE Enemy MAX HP A2 is not only one of the best wave-clear attacks in the game, but also one of the best anti-boss attacks in the game, making him god-tier for PvE–and his A3 has an Extra Turn, effectively bringing his A2 down to a crazy 2-turn cooldown. His A1 is an AoE too, letting him pump out constant AoE damage. He’s considered the best legendary in RAID for a reason!
Siegfrund the Nephilim

You’ve probably seen Siegfrund in nearly every “team of the week” for every Dungeon in game. His A3 is his standout skill, delivering a huge single-target hit that then splashes the surplus damage to all other enemies if he lands a killing blow. Note that this surplus damage double-dips in most damage multipliers, so it actually tends to do far more damage that the original (yes, it makes no sense, but that’s how it’s coded). This lets him one-shot every single wave in the game, and he can one-shot some bosses as well if his build is good enough. He’ll usually be paired with other champions who buff him or reset his A3 for maximum speed.
How to Build Wave Clear Champions

Damage Stats
For a standard crit-based nuker, 100% C.RATE is essential.
After that, good damage comes from a balance of key stats: C.DMG%, Ignore DEF%, and your main damage stat (this varies from champion to champion, typically falling into ATK, DEF, or HP). The easiest way to find the best possible build for your account is to use our free Raid Optimiser Tool to filter through your gear. As a general guideline:
- early game = 4k ATK, 200% C.DMG%
- mid game = 6k ATK, 260% C.DMG%
- late game = 8k ATK, 320% C.DMG%
For SPD, you simply want to be faster than the enemy waves. For campaign farming, enemies have base SPD (i.e. will be around 90-100 SPD), so building over 200 SPD can let you take 2 turns for every 1 turn they take, possibly making your runs more consistent! For Faction Wars Hard Stage 21, you might need your wave clear as fast as 300 SPD for some particularly nasty waves (but this is an extreme example).
What about a Poison Explosion Champion?
For Poison explosion teams, you will want to carefully SPD tune your team to ensure you place Poisons before activating them. And, like nearly all debuffs, you will want to build enough ACC to land your Poisons consistently.
The Arachnelixir Relic from Faction Wars Hard difficulty will also massively boost your Poison damage by letting it gain ATK scaling–but you can still do Poison teams without it.
Recommended Artifact Sets
The best artifact sets for crit-damage dealers are ones which give Ignore DEF: savage; lethal; merciless; etc.
Merciless is the go-to set for PvE, giving the most Ignore DEF alongside great offensive stats and cooldown reduction. This requires a 6-piece build. Earlier game, Savage or Lethal are much easier to get and only need a 4-piece build.
For any hybrid nuker (a nuker who also needs to place debuffs), any sets which give SPD or ACC are also very valuable.
For any debuff focused champion like a Poison champion, survivability sets like Regeneration or cooldown reduction sets like Reflex are good choices.
Recommended Relics and Blessings
For PvE, Nature’s Wrath and Heavencast are the most common picks, for nukers with and without debuffs respectively. At 6-star Crushing Rend becomes the best choice, due to the huge amount of Ignore DEF it gives on every hit against high level enemies.
For Relics, any relic which provides damaging stats such as C.DMG% and has an offensive benefit is ideal. Survivability relics such as Golden Elixir are also viable, and Poison champions should aim for Arachnelixir.
