Marius the Gallant Overview

Marius requires no Knight to enter the Jousting Tournaments of Teleria, wielding a long shield and lance he enters the fray as an exclusive reward on the Progress Mission Track introduced in 2024.

If you are fortunate to claim Marius, you will have in your possession a champion capable of disabling many of the frustrating aspects of the dungeon and boss content. His Auric Lance (A1) is an all enemy attack with a 50% chance to place Enfeeble debuff when booked. This powerful debuff forces enemies to weak hit meaning all their debuffs and effects will not apply to your team. Pairing this with his passive, where any attempt to reduce Marius’ turn meter will trigger him to counter-attack with Auric Lance, you create a consistent stream of Enfeeble debuffs. Particularly powerful when the Dragon Boss enters breath form, he depletes your turn meters which should trigger him to counter-attack to place Enfeeble before he follows up with his breath attack likely disabling the stun debuff altogether. It is worth noting it is only a 1 turn debuff duration however it can be extended by Master Hexer Mastery.

With Death or Glory (A2), Marius can remove buffs from enemies by reducing their duration without fear of becoming a Sheep (instead of a pony!) via Polymorph and is useful in places like Hydra where buffs can cause catastrophe for your team. Finally, Galloping Thunder (A3) will provide core buffs to your team in Increase Accuracy and Increase Defence whilst also placing a Stun debuff on the enemy with the most Turn Meter.

Marius is immune to any turn meter effects including Decrease Speed making him difficult to control so will find great uses in early game arena where Polymorph is not an issue but as you climb the Arena Ladders, he will become less useful as his A1 Enfeeble will trigger Polymorph far too frequently to be of value. In PvE any location you need to disable effects will make Marius a great choice.

The most significant negative aspect to Marius is – how difficult will it be to complete the progress missions and acquire him!

Understanding Arena Roles

Champions normally form specific roles within an arena team. Our ratings define the roles that the champion fits and rates them on their ability to perform the roles. Below you can see a breakdown of all of our roles.

Cleanser

Champions with the Cleanser role will use their skills to remove debuffs and keep them from being re-applied.

Crowd Control

Champions with the Crowd Control role will use their skills to place soft (i.e. Provoke or Taunt) and hard (i.e Freeze or Stun) debuffs to disable enemy champions.

Damage

Champions with the Damage role will have skills that deal significant damage and are designed to defeat enemy champions.

Damage Absorption

Champions with the Damage Absorption role will have skills or effects that reduce the incoming damage your team takes. This can be through passive damage reduction or by applying skills such as Strengthen or Shields.

Healer

Champions with the Healer role will have skills that restore your champion's Health including Continuous Heals.

Debuffer

Champions with the Debuffer role will have skills that place debuffs that don't fall into Crowd Control or Skill Manipulator roles i.e. Decrease Defence. These champions may also have skills that remove Buffs.

Revive

Champions with the Revive role will have skills that bring your ally champions back from the dead including Revive on Death buffs.

Skill Manipulator

Champions with the Skill Manipulator role will have skills that increase enemy skill cooldowns or reduce your ally skill cooldowns.

Speed Manipulator

Champions with the Speed Manipulator role will have skills that affect the turn meter of your allies or enemies. This includes speed buffs and debuffs aswell as direct turn meter effects.
