CRAZY DAMAGE POTENTIAL

Titus is currently the strongest damage dealer for Chimera Clan Boss in the game! (The non-Titus UNM record is 1.9B with Toshiro; Titus’ record is currently sitting at 8.1B…)

The reason Titus deals so much damage is his A2: the short version is that the bigger your Shields are, the harder he will hit—potentially for MILLIONS of damage with every use of this skill.

For a full breakdown of the mechanics behind this, check out our Titus Champion Spotlight.

For this guide, the key thing to know is that: BIG SHIELDS = BIG DAMAGE!!

NERFS?

Longer-term players will remember the old Corpulent Cadaver teams; these worked in essentially the same way as Titus, but Cadaver was nerfed a couple of years ago due to his performance in Hydra Clash. There was a similar team built around Yannica, and this was also nerfed.

As of the time of writing, Plarium has officially stated that they will not nerf Titus. This means that Titus is currently the only champion with significant damage scaling from Shield buffs, and he should not be changed in future. BUT… The community is very skeptical about Plarium’s “no Titus nerf” stance, so have a back-up plan just in case they change their minds.

THERE IS ONE DOWNSIDE…

Titus teams are the best for damage and the best for Chimera Clash points as well, but there is one thing this team struggles with: Trials.

Trials are essential for maximising the amount of Relic crafting materials you will get on your account, and Titus teams simply can’t do very many of them due to the strict team building requirements for enabling Titus (explained in the next section).

What this means for you is that you want to build two types of Chimera team (if you can!):

  1. A Titus team (from this guide) for whenever you need to do maximum Clash points.
  2. A team dedicated purely to doing Trials (particularly ones that give mythical materials) for weeks when you do not need to score high Clash points for your Clan.

SHIELDS ARE THE KEY

Wixwell Path Event artwork for Raid: Shadow Legends

There are currently 3 different types of Shields in RAID: Shadow Legends:

  1. Shields from gear sets.
  2. Shields from abilities.
  3. Shields from the Volcardiac Heart Mythical Relic.

Each of these Shields can be extended and grown (see the next sections!) and each will contribute to Titus’ damage.

Ideally, you want each of these Shields present in your Titus team (though good luck getting the Mythical Relic!). It will work with only one type, but bringing a second type of Shield is not hard and will effectively double your damage.

NOTE: the Shield set is the ideal set for Shields from gear sets, since it gives a strong Shield. Bolster is NOT viable, since it cannot be extended, and will therefore disappear after 3 turns no matter what.

SHIELD GROWTH

Now that you have at least 2 types of Shield in your team, the next step is to grow these Shields, since the bigger the Shield, the bigger the damage boost for Titus.

There are very few champions in the game who can do this: for Chimera, you are looking at Vault Keeper Wixwell as the only realistic option.

WIXWELL

Vault Keeper Wixwell is essential for Chimera, bringing much stronger Shield growth than other options, alongside the Increase Defence buff and the Decrease Attack debuff to drastically mitigate incoming damage against the Shields. His Intercept buffs can also prevent Provokes and other CC debuffs from the Chimera.

Wixwell’s ability to grow Shields comes from the number of buffs on your team, so look for champions who bring the buffs he’s missing to grow your shields faster.

An example Wixwell team is: Vault Keeper Wixwell; Krisk the Ageless; Lydia the Deathsiren; Oella; Titus Blackplume.

BLOODSHIELD, BROGNI, AND OTHER OPTIONS

From our testing, these are viable options for Hydra Clan Boss, and some can work against Demon Lord. Unfortunately, due to the high incoming damage from Chimera from the very start of the fight, they do not currently seem to be viable for this boss; if you don’t have a Wixwell to pair with your Titus, you are better off building a non-Titus team instead.

BUFF EXTENDERS

With your Titus and Wixwell locked in, the next key requirement is to bring 2-3 champions who can Extend Buffs on a 3-turn cooldown.

The goal here simple: we must maintain the same Shield buffs (which we grow from the very start of the fight) on Titus at all times.

Three champions is the simplest method: if we bring 3 champions who can extend buffs by 1 turn every 3 turns, then every 3 turns we will have extended our buffs by 3 turns total, and they will never expire!

COOLDOWN REDUCTION IS KING

It is also viable to bring less than 3 buff extenders (or even just use Wixwell on his own) if you bring reliable sources of cooldown reduction, such as using a Lamasu and Yumeko in manual play to constantly reset Wixwell’s A2.

As you’ll see in the next section, all of the top teams will be using this combo.

Even without the OP Yumeko combo, it is still worth building sets such as Reflex, 4-piece Merciless, Impulse, etc. on your Wixwell so that he can cast his A2 more often; incoming damage in Chimera is high, so the quicker you grow the Shield, the easier it is to get a large one.

GREAT BUFF EXTENDER OPTIONS

Wixwell himself can extend buffs on a 3-turn cooldown, so you need one/two others for his team

Krisk the Ageless is a classic example, who also brings Ally Protection, thereby soaking up 50% of the damage your Shields would take.

Mad Hatter was a fusion champion this year, so is a strong option many will have. His Ally Attack is not particularly useful for Titus, but his Weaken debuff is!

Oella is an old fusion who will make team building much easier thanks to her Increase Resistance buff.

Androc the Glorious is essentially the mythical version of Oella in his base form, bringing even more buffs and turn meter boosts.

Lady Mikage is a permanent Mythical fusion, who will supplement your team with Debuff Extension and Increase Crit Damage as well.

BUILDING THE TEAM

RESISTANCE IS NOT FUTILE

The final step to building the team is to understand the crucial difference between Demon Lord and Chimera: the Chimera will try to remove all your buffs twice per Ultimate Form, and will try to steal your buffs at least once per Viper Form.

Because of this, it is essential to build Titus with enough Resistance to prevent these buff removals/steals from happening. If his Shields ever get removed, you’re back to square one on his damage and likely need to restart the entire run.

Here are the minimum recommended RES goals for each difficulty for your Titus for the Ultimate/Viper forms:

  • Easy 205/255
  • Normal 255/305
  • Hard 305/355
  • Brutal 355/405
  • Nightmare 455/505
  • Ultranightmare 505/555

Note that there will give you around a 90% chance to resist each effect from the Ultimate/Viper forms; it is worthwhile building even higher than this if possible to gain an even better chance to resist.

3% HURTS

Due to how ACC/RES work in RAID: Shadow Legends, the Chimera will always have a 3% chance to successfully remove your buffs regardless of how much RES you build.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to completely prevent this.

One step you can take is to ensure that your Shield buff from abilities is placed by someone geared in a Protection set, so that Shield will be protected.

Another option is to use the Lightning Cage blessing on Titus, though this will not reliably stack and activate when you want it to, and will be a big damage loss as well.

In reality, even after taking these steps, you will simply have to build high RES and restart runs where the 3% happens. Try not to have too much fun(!)

MANUAL IS BEST

As you can see from the example above, the best possible team comp is: Authoratrix Lamasu; Yumeko; Vault Keeper Wixwell; Senna Amberheart; Titus Blackplume.

Lamasu can place Block Buffs and Decrease Speed on the boss as needed; otherwise she resets Yumeko.

Yumeko spam resets your whole team; Lamasu resets her in turn, letting her do this every turn.

Wixwell will place his Shield on the first turn, then spam his A2 thanks to resets.

Titus will spam his A2, except against Ram Form where he will only A1.

Senna will spam her A2 and revive if anyone dies.

NUB’S TEAM (FULL AUTO)

My team is a full auto team: Androc the Glorious; Krisk the Ageless; Lydia the Deathsiren; Vault Keeper Wixwell; Titus Blackplume.

Full auto means much lower damage, but much higher convenience every week!

This team works well, but lacks a reviver which can be dangerous due to the high damage coming at Krisk from Ally Protection. If you lack the gear to keep Krisk alive, swap to a different buff extender instead, such as Mad Hatter.

Androc can be replaced by Oella, but losing his passive RES bonuses will raise the RES stat needed on Titus. He is there for Buff Extension, Strengthen, Increase Resistance and lots of healing. I have him in 9-piece Protection to turn every buff he brings into 5% more damage.

Wixwell is geared in a Shield set, since I only have one good Shield set on my account and he will be in every single Titus team, keeping things simple.

Krisk brings Buff Extension, Decrease Defence, Decrease Attack, and Ally Protection. He’s geared in 9-piece Protection to ensure his buffs are protected.

Lydia is in 9-piece Feral for boosting damage, and her Decrease Defence and Weaken debuffs are essential for Titus to deal damage (people with 6-star Crushing Rend on Titus can skip Decrease Defence, but not otherwise).

Titus is in 6-piece Merciless and 2-piece Zeal. He also has a Cat’s Gaze Relic. Due to Androc, I didn’t need to intentionally build any RES.

Bottom Line – If you don’t have Wixwell, you were a total tool to try for the Titus fusion. Much like the Krokad fusion without the Packmaster. How many times is Plarium going to do ‘Lucy with the football’ fusions, I wonder?
