What Ensnare Does in RAID: Shadow Legends
Ensnare comes in two versions:
- A 50% version which reduces enemy Fill Turn Meter effects by 50%..
- A 100% version which fully nullifies all enemy Fill Turn Meter effects.
This is a “soft” crowd control effect: it can drastically reduce the amount of turns an enemy can take, but it does not prevent them from acting on their turn like a Stun debuff would.
Note that this affects only Fill Turn Meter effects (e.g. Arbiter’s A3) but it does not prevent enemies from gaining turn meter from their SPD stat.
Using Ensnare in Combat
Champions That Apply Ensnare
Ensnare is currently an extremely rare debuff.
Only 4 champions have this debuff at time of writing:
- Edward Kenway (no longer available to pull)
- Polara Fireheart (alternate form)
- Pontiff Augustin
- Pelagus the Wavewalker
We consider Pelagus and Pontiff to be poorly suited the the current Mercurial PvP meta, so you are unlikely to see them in action. Polara is very popular after her buff, but moreso for her Base Form. Edward is a popular champion for those who have him, so you might well encounter him and see this debuff in action then.
Team Strategies Built Around Ensnare
Ensnare is particularly good at countering champions with regular Increase Turn Meter effects, such as:
- Champions with the Supersonic gear set.
- Champions like Starsage Galathir or Mavara who regularly boost Turn Meter.
- Champions who can Steal Turn Meter, like Armanz.
This is not a debuff you will intentionally build any teams around, but it is a very nice debuff to bring as a bonus against teams which rely on Increase Turn Meter effects.
Best Areas to Use Ensnare
Arena and Live Arena
Ensnare is most useful in PvP, since enemies can have a variety of “hidden” Turn Meter Fill effects from masteries, gear sets like Supersonic, relics, blessings, and gemstones.
Champions who directly Increase Turn Meter are also very popular in every arena meta, and this debuff helps limit their effectiveness.
Boss Content
Every boss in the game is immune to Ensnare, so it will provide no value against them.
Most boss minions are vulnerable though, as are enemy waves, so this can be a good counter to waves with lots of Turn Meter increases, such as waves with Tetsuya in them.
How to Counter Ensnare
Debuff Removal
Ensnare is not usually a protected debuff, so the easiest counter is to use Remove Debuffs to get rid of it.
Prevention Strategies
Ensnare will also be blocked by a variety of common buffs:
- Block Debuffs
- Total Guard
- Stoneskin
You can also resist Ensnare if your RES is high enough in most cases.
Rarely a Priority
Since this debuff is so uncommon, it is unlikely you will ever have to intentionally focus on countering it.
