How to Solo Speed Farm the Minotaur with Sun Wukong!

Sun Wukong was a free daily log in champion in 2023, and is still available for new players by using the promo code Monkeyking. Wukong’s skill set is very versatile, and he can be built in multiple ways to excel in damage, Debuff placement or simply a blend of the two.

His potential to deal surplus & AOE damage is great, and being accessible opens this strategy to all players. To take down the Minotaur on stage 15 you will want to invest primarily into damage, as this will lead to taking down the enemy waves, and gives you the firepower to slay the boss itself.

Why should you Farm Masteries?

It can sometimes be a massive time saver to purchase your masteries using 800 gems, however you will gain so many benefits for farming them. It will cost 2100 energy [640 Gems] to take a single champion from zero to maximum scrolls, therefore saving you 160 Gems in the process. It’s also worth noting this is not inclusive of any energy you currently have, so the gem cost can be significantly lower when factoring this in.

Outside of saving resources, you can also use farming as a method for levelling your champions, whilst earning silver in the process. There will be 20,790XP available when running XP boosts per run, and as we require 150 runs per champion for completion, this can truly add up. This will be a 50/50 split with Wukong if only running one food champion leaving you 10,380XP, therefore, to maximise the value of this XP split you may want to run multiple champions to divide this further [20% Split across 5 champions will leave you 4152XP on each of them].

In terms of the silver return, you can expect approximately 1.1 million per champion that you maximise scrolls with.

XP earned for each additional Champion:

  • 1 Champion – 10,380XP
  • 2 Champions – 6,920XP
  • 3 Champions – 5,190XP
  • 4 Champions – 4,152XP

How to build your Sun Wukong

The intensity of your build plays a huge factor in the speed of your runs, although there are many ways to still be successful with lesser stats. The boss on stage 15 is running at 90-base speed, so we want to be ahead of the curve in that race. Moving forward, you will want to prioritise as much ATK%, C.DMG as well as 100% C Rate to blast through the waves as quickly & consistently as possible. Below you will find some recommended artefacts to consider blending with.

4 Piece/Full Sets:

  • Lethal
  • Savage
  • Instinct
  • Merciless
  • Lifesteal

2 Piece Sets:

  • Cruel
  • Critical Damage
  • Speed
  • Perception

Below you will find some screenshots of some example builds for different player levels:

Lifesteal Mid-Game build:

You will not have the ignore defence value from some other sets, but you will be healing by the damage inflicted, therefore you may require multiple turns to clear waves:

Setting up your runs:

In terms of pre-sets to make this work, you will want to prioritise active skills correctly to speed up your runs. For wave one, you will be opening with your A2 to ignore 50% of defence, followed by dealing surplus damage to kill all the other enemies. Leading into wave 2, you will use your A3 to inflict AOE damage, followed by prioritising all active skills on the boss wave as this champion will focus on his A1 without this.

During the first 2 waves, you will also want to lock off the alternate active skills so they’re not wasted for the following waves, and this cycle will lead you to surplus damage on wave 3. This will come in the form of an opening A1 on a minion, followed by an A2 to surplus that target, therefore dealing massive numbers to the boss itself.

Picking your Sun Wukong Masteries:

You can find a wide range of masteries on our champion guide page, although we will briefly discuss them here as well. Whether you run Warmaster for boss encounters, or simply Helmsmasher for the Arena, these are both viable builds for success. This gives you the ease of not having to switch from your current mastery builds if you’ve indexed into one of them already.

Can I run this strategy as a duo?

The opportunity to run a Duo strategy is definitely viable with Wukong, although it’s worth noting you’re reducing the return of XP for your other champions. If you find you cannot successfully reach the solo requirements for this champion, you can bring in a tank to stay alive, allowing Wukong to self-revive with his passive every 3 turns to get the job done.
