Project Zero: 75 Days of Progress on My F2P Account

How’s it going everyone, YST here! It’s crazy to think it’s already been 75 days since I kicked off Project Zero, my Free to Play series where I started a fresh account in 2026 to see just how far I could push it without spending a penny. We started things off alongside the Echoes of Oz event, and honestly, a lot has happened since then, with plenty of ups and downs along the way!

I thought now would be a good time to take a look back at everything I’ve managed to achieve over these 75 days, from the Champions I’ve summoned and Fusions I’ve tackled, to the key milestones and areas of content I’ve managed to beat. I’ll also show you where the account currently stands, what’s been working well, and what I’m hoping to achieve next as we continue pushing Project Zero forward!

My Account Progress So Far

Fusion Progress: Back to Back Success!

After failing the Cowardly Lion Fusion due to the unexpected Summon Rush requirements, I decided to give the next few Fusions another shot. Thankfully, things went much better this time around, as I managed to complete Theimios the Everdrinker Fusion, who’s been an insane carry for my account so far! He’s been particularly strong in areas like Dragon, thanks to his Poisons and passive interactions, helping me push through stages I was previously struggling with.

I then managed to go back to back and complete the Orynyx Mindcrawler Fusion, who I’m hoping will become a big part of my Arena and wave teams thanks to his crowd control potential. Getting both of these Champions on a F2P account has been a massive win, especially after the disappointment of missing out on the Cowardly Lion.

That said, I’m genuinely considering skipping the next Fusion to give myself a bit of a break. Running Fusions on both my main and F2P accounts has been pretty exhausting, and I feel like this account could benefit from some breathing room to focus on ranking up Champions, improving gear, and building stronger teams with what I already have.

Although… if the next Fusion happens to bring AoE Block Buffs, I might have to change my mind! It’s still one of the biggest gaps in my account, as I currently only have access to single target placements.

Champion Progress & Arbiter Missions

At the 75 day mark, I’ve managed to build 10 six star Champions, with several of these rank ups timed around the Arbiter Missions that require Champions of specific affinities. I wanted to make sure I was progressing towards those missions naturally rather than wasting resources ranking up Champions I didn’t necessarily need.

One of my top milestones was completing all the Arbiter Missions by Day 73! I deliberately held off on summoning her until the Fusion Champion Chase, allowing me to pick up some easy points towards Orynyx while securing another Legendary for the account.

The headache with these missions was definitely having to hold back my progress for objectives that weren’t retroactive. There were times when I could have pushed further but had to wait for the relevant mission to unlock. The Arena medal grind was another challenge, especially getting an Affinity Bonus all the way to Level 10 in the current PvP meta. I ended up relying heavily on finding one man defences to slowly build up the medals I needed!

My Best Champion Summons So Far

Looking back at my summons, I’ve actually had some pretty nice luck with the Champions I’ve managed to pull, particularly when it comes to Legendaries.

Abbess has probably been my biggest surprise so far. Since her recent buff, she’s completely exceeded my expectations and has become one of my favourite Champions on the account. I honestly didn’t expect to get anywhere near as much value from her as I have.

Geomancer has also been a huge pickup for boss encounters, giving me another strong option for tackling some of the harder content. Alongside these, I’ve managed to summon Vizier and Yoshi, adding even more options to my roster as I continue building out different teams.

Of course, having these Champions is one thing, but finding the resources to rank them up, book them, and gear them properly is another challenge entirely on a F2P account! With that covered, let’s take a look at the different areas of content I’ve managed to beat so far, including some of my top milestones in places like the Demon Lord Clan Boss.

Content Progression: What I’ve Managed to Beat

Doom Tower Progress

One of the biggest challenges I wanted to overcome was the Doom Tower, and I’m happy to say I’ve been successfully clearing Normal difficulty! I’ve also been pushing into Hard Mode, although I’ve hit a wall at Stage 57 on the current rotation, where my Champions just aren’t geared well enough to get through it yet.

Still, it’s been a pretty fun climb, and getting access to those extra resources has been a great boost for the account. I’d definitely recommend giving Hard Mode a shot whenever you can, even if you don’t think you’re ready. You might surprise yourself with how far you can actually push.

Grim Forest: Taking Down Leshun!

At account level 55, I finally unlocked the Grim Forest, and with 10 six star Champions available, I was able to fill half my deck with some fully invested Champions. As for the other half… well, they still had their uses! Some helped bring important effects, such as Vizier’s Block Buffs against Isheth, while others were mainly there to help clear waves.

I actually managed to clear most of the board on Normal, with the exception of the purple area, while defeating all four key bosses, collecting the Grim Crowns, and eventually taking down Leshun!

This was a pretty big achievement for the account, especially considering how limited my roster still is. The rewards were also well worth the effort, giving me access to some great gear pieces and valuable resources to help with future progression.

Demon Lord Clan Boss

The Demon Lord has been one of my top priorities since starting Project Zero, and I’ve managed to reach the point where I can achieve a 2 key result on a good run! That said, I’m still comfortably within 3 key territory on most days. What’s interesting is that I’m doing this without a proper speed tune, instead relying on important buffs, debuffs, and enough SPD to keep my team moving and dealing consistent damage.

There’s definitely room for improvement here, but I’m pretty happy with what I’ve managed to achieve so far without building a dedicated speed tuned composition.

Hydra & Chimera Progression

Hydra is still an area where I’m taking things fairly slowly, mainly because I’m lacking reliable Provoke and AoE Block Buffs Champions. For now, I’m sticking to the lowest difficulty, but I’m still able to clear it and pick up some nice gear along the way. More importantly, I’m continuing to work towards unlocking Mithrala, who should be a massive addition to the account once I finally get her.

Chimera has been going a little better, as I’m currently able to 1 key both Easy and Normal difficulties. I’ve also been completing a few Trials along the way, which is always a nice bonus.

The extra Clan Gold has been particularly useful for picking up additional resources, while I’m also slowly collecting fragments towards unlocking Embrys.

Dungeon Progression

When it comes to Dungeons, I’ve made some decent progress, although I haven’t been pushing every area as far as possible just yet.

  • Dragon: Reached Stage 9 Hard, currently farming Stage 6 Hard for more consistent runs.
  • Ice Golem: Cleared up to Stage 25.
  • Spider: Farming Stage 20, although I could probably push further if I dedicated some time to it.
  • Fire Knight: Cleared up to Stage 20.

For the most part, I’ve been tackling these Dungeons whenever a Fusion, Tournament, or Event gives me a reason to farm them, rather than spending loads of Energy pushing stages unnecessarily.

Interestingly, a lot of my strongest gear has actually come from other areas of the game rather than traditional Dungeons, which has made progressing through content like Doom Tower and Grim Forest even more worthwhile.

Where I’m Focusing Now

As mentioned earlier, whether I go for the next Fusion will really depend on what the Champion brings to the table. Raid has already teased a new login Champion coming soon, so if the Fusion ties into that, or perhaps turns out to be another collaboration style Champion, I might be tempted to give it a shot! The same goes if we get a Champion with AoE Block Buffs, which is still one of the main gaps in my account.

However, if it’s a Champion that fills a role I’ve already got covered, I’ll probably give it a miss. I feel like the account could really benefit from some breathing room to focus on Masteries, ranking up more Champions, improving gear, and potentially putting together a proper speed tune for the Demon Lord.

Another Champion I’ve got my eye on is Rhazin Scarhide, who’s receiving some pretty strong buffs. With his Fusion requirements also becoming easier to obtain, I might start working towards unlocking him. He’d be a great addition for bringing key debuffs, some solid damage, and AoE SPD and Turn Meter manipulation, which is something I’m currently lacking.

I’ve also unlocked the Marius and Ramantu Missions, so I’ll naturally be working my way through those alongside everything else. One of my main goals is to build a stronger Arena team that can actually compete in Classic Arena without constantly relying on one man defences for medals. I’d also like to improve my existing Champions and start pushing through some of those higher difficulty content stages where I’ve currently hit a wall.

That’s pretty much where Project Zero stands after 75 days! I’m really happy with how far I’ve managed to take the account, but there’s still so much more I want to achieve.
