Embrys the Anomaly – Champion Spotlight

Embrys the Anomaly is a new guaranteed mythical champion that has the potential to completely change your account in Raid: Shadow Legends.

In his first form he brings the unique ability to remove Stoneskin buffs without needing ACC–and even bypassing the set’s usual 50% chance to block removal.

In his second form he is a powerful damage dealer who can be very difficult for enemies to kill.

In this guide we will break down everything you need to know about how to build Embrys, including his best gear, blessings, relics, and more!

How to Unlock Embrys

Chimera, Relics, New Champions and More

Fragments for Embrys are earned exclusively from weekly chests from the Chimera Clan Boss.

Higher difficulties will drop more fragments more often, so clear the highest two difficulties that you can to get Embrys as quickly as possible. Trials and Chimera Clash are not needed to unlock Embrys.

Although it will take many months, if you are consistent with doing your Chimera keys each week, Embrys could be the first mythical you unlock for your account.

Embrys form 1 explained

The base form for Embrys brings a ton of unique abilities, including a guaranteed removal of Stoneskin, the Necrosis debuff, and swapping enemy buffs to their mirrored debuffs.

A1 – Fetid Glave

Some minor MAX HP Destruction and debuff extension is nifty utility but nothing too impactful.

If there are any Necrosis buffs, this skill cannot be resisted.

A2 – Voidstare

AoE True Fear and Decrease Attack gives him decent control, but the Extra Turn is the sneaky star of the show. Not only does this allow him to cycle through his cooldowns–including Metamorph–faster, it also gives him a lot of extra Necrosis activations through his passive.

If there are any Necrosis buffs, this skill cannot be resisted.

A3 – The Unmaking

The most iconic move in Embrys’ kit, and one that is not intuitive to read.

The secret of this move is that replacing buffs is coded differently to removing buffs, meaning that it bypasses ACC checks and Polymorph blessings. The only way to stop Embrys from removing your buffs is to have him weak hit, to use protected buffs, or the Lightning Cage blessing.

The placement of True Fear and other mirrored debuffs, plus the Turn Meter reduction and stealing, does rely on ACC.

If there are any Necrosis buffs, this skill cannot be resisted.

A4 – Metamorph

The standard mythical metamorph ability.

P1 – Wrongful Existence

Embrys is the first champion to bring Necrosis in his kit (the Chimera Clan Boss also has it). This is essentially a 5% MAX HP damage tick per turn (like Poison) per dead enemy on the enemy team. Note that Embrys must be alive when the enemies die to apply Necrosis. Necrosis can only be removed by reviving the dead champions.

The extra part of this passive–which is unique to form 1–is that Necrosis will be instantly activated at the start and end of Embrys’ turn (on top of the standard start of each enemy’s turn), which can quickly add up to a surprising amount of damage, particularly combined with the Extra Turn on his A2.

Aura

A 35% HP in all Battles Aura is universally good, though a SPD Aura is generally preferred in arena, which is his best area.

Embrys form 2 explained

The alternate form for Embrys has a simple focus: damage!

A1 – Unmaker’s Blade

Block Revive is always incredibly useful, particularly since it means there will be a permanent stack of Necrosis on the enemy team. This attack becomes very scary whenever Necrosis is there and it triggers its extra hit.

A2 – Atomize

The big AoE nuke of form 2, this has two unique effects. It might surprise you to hear that the 50% ignore defence (if enemies have higher ACC) will usually give you more damage in arena than the double damage version! This becomes particularly true when stacked with other sources of ignore defence, such as his A3, the Helmsmasher mastery, or various gear sets  (e.g. Lethal).

For Faction Wars, where you can get 20% ignore defence from the Great Hall Area Bonuses, you will prefer the double damage version, as you can easily start overcapping on ignore defence.

A3 – Your Life is Forfeit!

This ability lets Embrys solo Sand Devil, which is pretty cool! It can also be a potent way to set up a Block Revive on his A1 if Embrys is low on HP.

Over a long fight, this will add up to a crazy amount of ignore defence, drastically scaling up Embrys’ damage.

A4 – Metamorph

The standard mythical metamorph ability.

P1 – Degenerator

This is the other part of Embrys’ kit that lets him solo Sand Devil, by dealing substantial damage and by reviving him when the Sand Devil does his big hit.

It’s also likely to be a source of rage in arena when players forget about it, as this passive can easily kill enemy damage dealers–even bypassing the likes of Siegfrund’s passive. This makes him a difficult champion to safely kill, which is dangerous since he is a constant threat on every one of his turns.

He also applies Necrosis just like in form 1 (he must be alive for it to apply to enemies) but he does not activate it on his own turn like he does in form 1.

Aura

A 35% HP in all Battles Aura is universally good, though a SPD Aura is generally preferred in arena, which is his best area.

how to build embrys

Best Stats

The key stats to look for on Embrys are:

  1. Speed
  2. C.RATE
  3. C.DMG
  4. HP
  5. ACC

Three Ways to Build

There are three main ways to build Embrys, which will affect the stats and sets you prioritise.

The first way is to build him as a Hybrid, with enough SPD and ACC to be faster than your other damage dealers and to successfully land debuffs against enemies who don’t intentionally build RES in arena, then focusing on max damage after that. In our opinion, this is his general best build, though it is the hardest to do well.

The second way is to focus on just his support abilities in form 1, going all in on SPD and ACC and ignoring damage. This will put out a lot of control and Necrosis damage, but will make his form 2 effectively useless. This is easy to build but leaves him the most limited.

The third way is to focus entirely on damage. This makes his form 2 as powerful as possible, but will make his form 1 abilities nearly always be resisted if there are no Necrosis debuffs active.

For a late-game player, we recommend going for build option 1 and aiming for approx: 100k HP; 280+ SPD; 100 C.RATE; 250+ C.DMG; and 300+ ACC. A high level soul and relic will let you push these stats significantly higher.

Best Gear Sets

The recommended sets for Embrys are:

  1. Stoneskin
  2. Lethal/Savage/Instinct
  3. Pinpoint
  4. Supersonic
  5. Feral

Stoneskin is recommended for arena if you cannot guarantee always going first (especially in Live Arena since Embrys is the biggest counter, and they cannot pick him if you have him in Gold tier).

An ignore defence set is the next ideal set to maximise his damage in form 2.

Pinpoint is great to boost his key stats and to provide Intercept buffs to protect from Polymorph.

Supersonic is very useful for a high ACC Embrys to help him cut in and swap enemy buffs in form 1.

6-piece Feral is a more awkward alternative to Pinpoint for fast builds.

best blessings and relics for embrys

Best Blessings

There are several great options for Blessings for Embrys, though you will have to get lucky with soulstones to get souls for him.

  1. Polymorph: this is particularly good since Embrys can remove Intercept buffs with his True Fears in form 1.
  2. Temporal Chains: this will help Embrys cut in and swap enemy buffs.
  3. Lightning Cage: this will protect buffs on Embrys–particularly good with Stoneskin.

Best Relics

There are several great options for Relics for Embrys.

  1. Wand of Submission (Legendary Standard Relic): arguably the best arena relic in the game, this will protect Embrys from Polymorph when he debuffs, and reflect other CC which he tends to be vulnerable to due to outrunning Block Debuffs with his extra turns.
  2. Infernal Polytope (Mythical Live Arena Relic): great synergy with his A3 and passive in form 2
  3. Essence Quencher (Legendary Clan Relic): the best damage relic currently for HP damage dealers.
  4. Orb of Transfixion (Epic Chimera Relic): lets him occasionally steal buffs with his constant attacks.
