Kuldath, the Magma Dragon

spacer

Kuldath the Magma Dragon appears in Rotations 1 and 2 in the Doom Tower. This encounter will force you to build a team specifically designed to counter its mechanics, Let’s break it down.

Ability Breakdown

spacer

Brand with Weakness [ATK]

Attacks 1 enemy. Decreases the target’s Turn Meter by 50%.

Will target enemies under [Hex] debuff.

Overburn [ATK]

Attacks all enemies. Instantly activates any [HP Burn] debuffs on each target and decreases the duration of those [HP Burn] debuffs by 1 turn.

Stoke the Flames [ATK]

Attacks all enemies. Places a [HP Burn] debuff for 3 turns, then steals 10% of the Turn Meter from each enemy under [HP Burn] debuff.

Also places a [Hex] debuff for 4 turns on the enemy with the lowest HP. This debuff cannot be resisted or blocked.

Lethal Lava [Passive]

Instantly places a [Hex] debuffs for 4 turns on an enemy whenever they remove [Hex] debuff from themselves or an ally.

Will ignore [Block Damage], [Shield] and [Unkillable] buffs and will ignore 100% of DEF when attacking enemies under [Hex] debuffs.

Instantly removes any [HP Burn] debuff placed on Kuldath the Magma Dragon and replaces them with a 15% [Continuous Heal] for 2 turns.

Invincible Scales [Passive]

How to beat the boss!

spacer

Kuldath is by far the easiest of the Doom Tower bosses, for one simple reason – you can stop him from doing ANY of his abilities.

Unlike any other boss in the game, you can control Kuldath by provoking him which makes the fight a complete joke. All you need to do is bring in 1-2 provoke champions who can keep high uptime of the debuff.

If you’re unable to provoke Kuldath, he will hit incredibly hard and place hexes and HP burns on your team, which he can activate with his A2.

Things to avoid:

  • Do not bring HP burn to this encounter, Kuldath will instantly remove any HP burn and replace them with a 15% Continuous heal buff.
  • Unkillable, shields and Block Damage buffs are largely irrelevant in this encounter if you’re not provoking him, as if you have a Hex debuff, Kuldath will ignore all these buffs.
  • If you cleanse Hex from an ally, the cleanser will receive a Hex debuff for 4 turns, so be careful with cleansing.

Team Compositions

Strategy 1: Provoke and Ignore Mechanics!

The whole idea of this strategy is just to permanently keep a Provoke debuff on Kuldath, for the entire fight while you whittle it down. To make sure that your provoker(s) can survive you may want to bring some healing in your team to make sure they don’t fall over!

This is by far the smoothest method for the fight, as you prevent it from using any of its abilities.

The All-Star:

Warchief (Skinwalkers, Force)

Warchief is incredible for this boss, due to his ability to provoke it permanently from both his A1 and A2 – He is also not weak affinity for either version of the Magma Dragon (currently) while that doesn’t mean that a Spirit affinity version won’t come into Doom Tower one day.

He can single-handed lockout the boss for the whole fight, if he’s fast enough + has the required accuracy, all you need to do is stack up his defensive stats and run some sustain in your team with him.

Viable replacements in this team:

The healers in this team (Bad El-Kazar/Scyl) can be replaced by any champion who can provide sustained healing for your provoker.
LydiaStag Knight, Madame Serris, Tayrel, Uugo
Iron BragoAltan, Sepulcher Sentinel

As mentioned any provoker will fill Warchief’s spot, however, he is the best option – of course, we do understand not everybody has access to him.

What is it that makes Aothar 4.5* against magma dragon?

Why is Visix 1* for this? I would have thought her provoke would have had her at 3* or 4* at least?

Same question DaVersus. Visix can be booked to have the same cooldown as gnarlhorn who is rated as 5 star for this boss. Needs update.

Using Versulfss A1 on him on Floor 100, seemed to work well.
Team was Cardiel, Krisk, Versulf, Siphi and Souless.

Bivald carried my team together with the Butcher and Scyl for reviving. Butcher at 50 helps Bivald when he can’t provoke, and when Butcher dies Scyl revives him. Rest of the team was Deacon and Yumeko for waves, and Yumeko as a failsafe if the Dragon got a turn.

Kantras passive and aura are perfect for this encounter. especially when you struggle with accuracy.

OK I’m finally trying this boss on 60H so had to actually learn his moves. I put Black Knight in as perma-provoke, with the frost dwarf dude as backup. I have UDK as the tank to keep BK alive, and further backup provoke.

But how do I nuke this guy? The fight is “easy” but takes forever. My Coldheart does nothing. Can’t use Ninja. Can’t use Geo. Do I need Brimstone? Poison?

Warmaster + dec def will do it but will take ca. 15 min. A poisoner will speed it up. Use an enemy max HP champ if you want to farm it in less than 10 min.

I don’t see anything saying he is resistant to poisons, but 5% poisons are only doing 14k damage on hard floor 80… He obviously has more HP than that…

Yeah, all DT bosses are resistant to poisons. They should really add it to the skill description.

OK, frick this boss. I struggled for 1 hour with a team consisting of Bivald, Burangiri, Mithrala, Wythir and Deacon. Complete RNG hell, but finally beat 110 hard.

This is a problem, you show how to beat the dragon, but your forget that no one has the champs that you have, i certainly dont, i dont have ANY that you listed but a few like Stag, Sent, and Uugo, only one is 50 and thats Stag. i have enough to 60 one more champ right now but i have no idea who to get to 60, i cant even get to dragon, spider, ice golem 20 i cant even touch 13-15. the amount of speed, HP, DEC, ACC you say to aim for is nearly impossible, i dare one person to log onto my account (so i dont have to list everything off) and build a team that can beat level 20 in dungeons, complete Campaign that i cant seem to finish, it cant be done, it would really help if a kind person offered to play it for a while to get things into order but im cursed, i have nothing but bad luck, sorry got off topic, so yeah what about those who dont have the lego’s you have, and all they have are a bunch of 50 epics laying around? you need to think about other players who dont have anything like that imo.

You can use rare or epic champions with Provoke debuff on A1 (Burangiri, Arndulf, Odachi, Sentinel, Myrmidon, Master Butcher, Graybeard, Tarshon, Seeker). Someone who can heal and revive (Scyl of the Drakes, she is a legendary champion and you get her for free as a login reward on day 180, Gorgorab, Cardinal, Djamarsa, Duhr the Hungerer, Mistress of Hymns, Rector Drath, Geargrinder). As a leader someone with Increase Accuracy in all battles (Chani, Endalia, Mistrider Daithi, Mordecai, Vogoth, Frozen Banshi, Judge, Pestilus). I would recommend you get at least a few of your champions to 60 level, give them masteries, and skill books, or if you get the same champion again, use him to improve the skill of this champion, and max their artifacts. For Doom Tower, you need a lot of HP, DEF, Speed, and Accuracy. You have no chance to get to the level 20 dungeon with a bunch of 50-level champions with bad equipment even though they were perfect champions for this dungeon.
