Fangus Animus Spotlight

If you’re building out a team around damage-over-time (DOT) effects in Etheria: Restart, there’s one Animus you don’t want to overlook—Fangus, the Infinite Trojan. Don’t let his SR rarity fool you; Fangus is a sleeper powerhouse and a cornerstone for DOT-centric comps thanks to his relentless debuff application and passive follow-ups. Whether you’re speed-clearing dungeons or chipping away at high-HP bosses, he’s got all the right tools.

In this Article, we are going to be breaking down the best ways to utilize Fangus, and how to gear him for the best possible results.

Skill Analysis

Skill 1 – Viral Infection

Fangus fires virus-laced bullets at a single enemy, dealing 280% damage and has a 60% chance to apply a 1-turn DOT. This skill shines when paired with gear that triggers follow-up or counterattacks, multiplying his DOT application rate. The damage-over-time itself is indirect true damage equal to 4% of max HP, making it particularly deadly against tanky enemies.

Passive – Contamination

Every time an ally uses a damaging skill, Fangus has a 50% chance to assist with a basic attack. This synergizes perfectly with his Skill 1, turning him into a passive DOT machine whenever your team acts.

Skill 3 – Contagion Outburst

This AoE skill deals 250% damage to all enemies with a 75% chance to apply a 2-turn DOT and Speed Down. The Speed Down helps Fangus control turn order, giving him more windows to stack DOTs before enemies can act.

Skill Investment Order

Priority Order: Skill 3 → Skill 2 → Skill 1

Skill 2 –  Contamination (Passive)

  • Boosts follow-up chance from 30% to 50%. This is Fangus’s DOT engine—max this first.

Skill 1 – Viral Infection

  • Damage multiplier increases and DOT chance scales up to 60%. A must-upgrade for maximizing uptime on DOTs.

Skill 3 – Contagion Outburst

  • Improves damage, DOT/speed down chance, and lowers cooldown. A great final boost for AoE control.

How to Build Fangus

Early Game Module Sets:

Swift Rush – +35% Speed

  • Great for getting turns faster, especially in DOT races.

Onslaught – +45% Attack

  • Boosts base hit damage if you’re going more aggressive early on.

Wellspring – +45% HP

  • Helps him survive longer in early progression content.

Unbreakable – +45% Defense

  • Adds extra tankiness if he’s getting focused.

Mid-to-Late Game Sets:

Battle Will – +10% Attack and 20% chance to pursue after using a skill.

  • This synergizes wonderfully with Fangus’s Skill 1.

Bramble – +10% Defense and 25% chance to counterattack with a basic when hit.

  • More procs = more DOTs.

Swift Raid – +15% Speed, +20% Attack.

  • A balanced mix for offense-focused builds.

Swift Smite – +15% Speed, +20% Effect Accuracy.

  • Great if you’re struggling to land debuffs consistently.

Stat Priorities

Fangus has a bit of flexibility depending on how aggressive or tanky you want

Main Stats:

  • Effect Accuracy (land those DOTs!)
  • HP or Defense (survivability in longer fights)
  • Crit Rate (to boost base hit damage)

Substats to Look For:

  • Speed (acts more often = more DOTs)
  • Effect Accuracy
  • Crit Rate
  • Crit Damage (if you’re going for damage)
  • More HP for sustain if you’re building bulky

Shell Recommendations

Early Game Shells:

For early and PvE-focused teams, these Shells pair well with Fangus:

  • Unbridled Science
  • Twilight Knight
  • Black Flag
  • Shanhai Jing

Mid-to-Late Game Shells:

  • White Fang
  • Gigabyte
  • Golden Lion – A top-tier pick that complements Fangus’s DOT playstyle and survivability.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • High DOT output: One of the best DOT spreaders in the game, especially among SR units.
  • Passive follow-ups: Helps stack DOTs even when he’s not actively attacking.
  • Scales well into content: Can handle long fights and dungeon clears with ease.
  • Can build for damage or bulk: Flexes into different roles depending on what your team needs.

Cons:

  • DOT immunity = dead weight: In content where DOT is resisted or ignored, Fangus loses all value.
  • Squishy if not built right: Needs HP/DEF to stay alive in longer fights.
  • Relies on DOT scaling: Won’t do well in burst-based comps or fast-clear strategies without support.
