How to beat NicoNana

There are several effective ways to take down NicoNana, but they all revolve around one critical concept: speed management. The boss starts with 90% damage reduction, which decreases by 1.5% for every point of Speed your Animus has over NicoNana. This means the most straightforward way to kill her is to build a high-Speed team. If your team can hit 254 Speed naturally, you’ll fully bypass the damage reduction. However, with Speed buffs from heroes like DokiDoki (+30 unremovable Speed from her passive) and Lily (+30 Speed buff), you can reach the required threshold much more easily, needing only 194 base Speed. With this setup, your team can deal full damage and finish the fight before NicoNana scales out of control.
Alternatively, if hitting high Speed is difficult, you can use [SPD-] debuffs to bring NicoNana down to your level. Cachi the Guard is excellent here—he provides a [SPD-] debuff, along with [Immunity], helping prevent the AoE [DEF-] from NicoNana’s second skill. If the game accounts for [SPD-] in NicoNana’s passive calculation, it effectively makes your slower characters hit harder. Paired with someone like Marvell or RC-77, the latter offers Turn Meter reduction, [DEF-], [ATK-], and debuff extension, you can slow the boss down and extend your team’s survivability, even if you’re not running ultra-fast gear.
A third method is to focus on Turn Meter control and [Taunt] disruption. NicoNana’s first skill not only hits hard but also steals Turn Meter, which cannot be resisted. If this lands on your healer at the wrong moment, it can lead to a wipe. [Taunt] tanks like Rin can absorb these attacks and provide predictable targeting, especially when supported by Lingluo or Helkid for healing and [Immunity]. Meanwhile, Chiaki the Echo, DokiDoki, or Lily can boost your team’s Turn Meter to ensure they act before NicoNana has a chance to retaliate.
[DoT] teams once again excel in this fight but if you dont fancy this, you can go for a burst damage strategy. Once you negate NicoNana’s damage reduction—either by outspeeding or slowing it down—high-damage dealers like Victor can burn through its health quickly, especially when paired with debuffs like [DEF-] and [ATK-]. This approach minimizes the threat from its Losing Patience passive, which increases damage over time, and avoids the risks of prolonged fights. With good speed management and a mix of control and sustain, NicoNana becomes a manageable, even farmable, boss.
