Febian and Phoebe Boss Guide
Febian and Phoebe are the fifth bosses you’ll encounter in Etheria: Restart’s Grim Pursuit, a content area specifically focused on farming Shells to enhance your Animus Builds, and they’ll also be your first source of Epic Rarity Shells!
Unlike all of the other bosses we’ve faced thus far, Febian and Phoebe is a two-phase encounter, where you must defeat Phoebe before fighting Febian.
Febian’s Element is DISORDER, while Phoebe’s Element is CONSTANT, making them neutral to the standard Elements.
You can fight Febian and Phoebe on Hard and Nightmare difficulty with the reward quality increasing for the higher difficulty.
A dual-souled chess player, a genius strategist, a powerful Animus… In pursuit of strategic perfection, she constantly plays against the other self in her mind. No one can defeat her on her chessboard.
In this guide, we will break down both Febian and Phoebe’s Skills, how to face this encounter, as well as suggesting an accessible progression team for defeating Febian and Phoebe.

How to beat Febian and Phoebe

Phoebe and Febian mark the only two-stage boss encounter in Grim Pursuit, and while they don’t rely on elemental gimmicks, they challenge players to balance buff usage, debuff management, and [Immunity] across both fights. Phoebe’s core threat is her ATK-scaling passive, which builds damage each turn through undispellable [Promotion] stacks. Her attacks also scale based on how many buffs she has, making support-heavy teams risky if they extend the fight. The safest method is to control her speed and Turn Meter to limit how many turns she takes. Units like Marvell help slow Phoebe down whilst Chiaki the Echo will push your own team forward. Even if you bring buffs like [Immunity], the goal is to kill her quickly before she snowballs.
Moving into the second stage, Febian flips the threat. Instead of scaling his own ATK, he starts applying [Checkmate] stacks passively at the end of every turn. These reduce your team’s healing received and Speed, and the worst part is, you can’t cleanse or resist them. However, [Immunity] blocks them entirely, which makes heroes like Helkid, Lingluo, and Cachi the Guard incredibly valuable. If you don’t have reliable [Immunity], you can pivot into [Shield]-based supports like Veronika, Celince, or even Victor, who can sustain without relying on healing. Rin is also an MVP, acting as a [Taunt] tank, shielding the team, and keeping damage focused where it’s manageable.
While Phoebe punishes you for bringing buffs, Febian punishes you for stacking debuffs. His attacks deal more damage for every debuff your heroes have, which again makes [Immunity] incredibly useful. Febian’s Skill 2 can [Freeze], and while the chance is low, it adds another reason to bring resistance or [Immunity]. If [Immunity] isn’t possible, cleansing supports like DokiDoki or Dorothy the Wisher offer some safety. Still, the best way to prevent scaling damage from both bosses is to limit the duration of the fight—whether by speeding up your rotation or locking down theirs with units like Marvell or Kloss.
For players who prefer simple execution, [DoT] strategies continue to dominate in this encounter. Fast, consistent [DoT] output will ignore most of the buff/debuff scaling and allow you to burn through both bosses without giving them enough time to snowball. If you’re building around more conventional comps, Speed control, Turn Meter manipulation, and [Immunity] are your go-to mechanics. Teams like RC-77, Marvell, Freya, and Lian have been tested and can clear this encounter, proving you don’t need a full SSR roster to beat one of Grim Pursuit’s trickier fights.
