Oboro Animus Spotlight

Phantom Edge Oboro stands out in Etheria: Restart as the game’s only bleed-based damage dealer at the time of this writing.

She delivers fast, precise strikes that apply powerful Bleed effects, chipping away at enemy HP through repeated indirect damage. Whether you’re looking to round out a DOT-focused team or just want a flexible single-target nuker with built-in debuffs, Oboro offers a compelling package, especially thanks to her unique synergy between raw burst and stacking damage over time.

In this Article, we are going to be breaking down the best ways to utilize Oboro, and how to gear her for the best possible results.

Skill Analysis

Aqua Shadow (Skill 1):

Strikes a single target twice for 120% damage each. Has a 20% chance to apply Speed Down for two turns. With her passive, crits also have a 60% chance to apply 1 stack of Bleed. Each Bleed stack deals 50% of her ATK as indirect damage at the start of the enemy’s turn.

Night Rain (Skill 2):

Deals 290% damage to a single target with a guaranteed 100% chance to apply Defense Break for two turns. This sets up massive follow-up damage from herself and allies.

Swift Gale (Skill 3):

Hits a single enemy for 390% damage. On a critical hit, sets back Strike Prep by 30% and has a 75% chance to apply 2 stacks of Bleed. Bleed damage stacks per instance, greatly amplifying DOT pressure if left unchecked.

Skill Investment Order

Skill upgrades are vital to maximizing Oboro’s performance, especially because her bleed application and burst damage are tied directly to skill enhancements.

Skill 3 – Swift Gale:

  • Priority #1.
  • Damage multiplier up to 390%.
  • Bleed chance boosted to 75%.
  • Strike Prep setback confirmed at 30%.
  • Cooldown reduced by 1 turn for more frequent nukes and bleed application.

Skill 2 – Night Rain:

  • Priority #2.
  • Damage boosted to 280%.
  • Defense Break chance increased to 100%, ensuring setup for her big hits.

Skill 1 – Aqua Shadow:

  • Useful for regular attacks and passive procs.
  • Boosts Bleed chance (on crit) to 60%.
  • Damage increased to 120%.
  • Speed Down also improves slightly to 15%.

How to Build Oboro

Oboro benefits greatly from high offensive stats and early crit reliability. Depending on your progression, your module sets can shift:

Early Game Modules:

  • Onslaught (12-set): +45% ATK. Great for straightforward scaling.
  • Momentum (12-set): +12% Crit Rate, bonus damage per enemy debuff (up to +30%). Excellent synergy with Bleeds and Defense Break.

Mid-to-Late Game Modules:

  • Harvest: Ignores 30% DEF when enemy HP > 50%. Excellent for nuking early.
  • Keen Eye: Bonus crit damage + ramping per-hit damage on skill use.
  • Fury Edge: Best-in-slot late game. +12% Crit Rate, +20% Crit Damage.

Stat Priorities

Main Stats:

  • Crit Rate % – Ensures Bleed procs and strike prep pushback.
  • Crit Damage % – Enhances burst and bleed values.
  • Attack % – Directly scales her base hits and bleed damage.

Sub Stats:

  • Crit Rate
  • Crit Damage
  • Attack
  • Speed (to keep her cycling and bleed pressure up)
  • Effect Accuracy (optional, helps with Speed Down and Bleed consistency)

Shell Recommendations

Oboro benefits from offensive pressure and single-target protection, making her ideal for shells that amplify speed, bleed uptime, or damage stacking:

Early Shells:

  • Agent Lizard, Budo Panda, Twilight Knight, Crossroad – General DPS buffs.

Mid-Late Game Shells:

  • White Fang, Golden Lion, Count, Law of Silence – Offer various boosts to attack or survivability.
  • Golden Lion is particularly potent for increasing bleed application windows.
  • These shells are typically found via later Shadowrunner progress or specific drop tables tied to elite bosses and late campaign maps.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Unique Bleed mechanic that scales with her own ATK.
  • High burst and DOT combo potential.
  • Self-reliant damage setup: applies Defense Break, Bleed, and Speed Down herself.
  • Works well with other DOT units and speed control teams.
  • Strike Prep setback adds utility to her burst turn.

Cons:

  • Very squishy – requires strong team protection or life steal support to stay alive.
  • Needs Crit Rate investment to function properly (for bleed and S3 effect).
  • No natural healing or mitigation in her kit.
  • Pure single-target focus—no AoE presence.
