Rahu Animus Spotlight

Rahu, the Wily Revenant, is a defense-scaling DPS who blends sturdy frontline presence with powerful single-target control and utility. If you’re looking for a self-sufficient tank who dishes out punishment and protects allies, Rahu is a prime pick. He brings defense break, assist follow-ups, and debuff transfer, making him surprisingly versatile in both PvE and PvP.

In this Article, we are going to be breaking down the best ways to utilize Rahu, and how to gear him for the best possible results.

Skill Analysis

Skill 1 – Flame Stream

Rahu attacks a single enemy for 320% of his DEF and has a 60% chance to inflict Defense Break for one turn. Since he scales with DEF and applies one of the most impactful debuffs in the game, this skill is a core part of his value.

Passive – Rahu Form

This is where his kit really opens up. Rahu starts battles with 3 stacks of Wrath and can gain more as allies act or avoid using attack skills. Each stack increases his DEF by 4% (up to 12) and enables assist attacks that consume stacks. As Wrath builds up:

  • At 4 stacks: assists transfer one debuff from the ally to the target.
  • At 6 stacks: two debuffs can be transferred.
  • At 8+ stacks: adds final damage scaling, increasing damage by 1% for every 4% DEF difference (up to 30%).

Skill 3 – Flame Authority

Deals 360% DEF AOE damage and grants all allies Defense Up for 2 turns, while giving Rahu 3 Wrath stacks. This skill serves both as a team-wide defensive boost and a huge DPS spike for Rahu himself.

Skill Investment Order

Priority Order: Passive → Skill 3 → Skill 1

Passive (Rahu Form)

    • Improves Wrath generation and increases the starting stacks.
    • Enables smoother rotations and more reliable assist transfers.

Skill 3 – Flame Authority

    • Boosts AOE damage and expands the Wrath cap to 12 stacks.
    • Makes Rahu a stronger damage-dealer and defensive support.

Skill 1 – Flame Stream

    • Improves base damage and boosts Defense Break chance to 60%.
    • Scales great with full Wrath stacks and is the core of his assist kit.

How to Build Rahu

Early Game Module Sets:

  • Unbreakable
  • Wellspring

Stack DEF% and HP% to survive and contribute damage.

Mid-to-Late Game Sets:

  • Colossguard
  • Bloodbath

Once you can push damage more reliably, consider building some Crit Rate and Crit Damage to scale his assists and Skill 1 output. Add Effect RES or Accuracy depending on whether you want to resist or land debuffs more consistently.

Stat Priorities

Main Stats:

  • Crit Rate / Crit DMG / DEF%/ HP%
  • Optional: Double Crit DMG builds if crit cap is met

Substats:

  • Crit Rate until capped (~100%)
  • DEF%, Crit DMG, and Speed

Shell Recommendations

Early Game Shells:

  • Unbridled Science – Extra turn meter.
  • Mermaid Princess – Purifies debuffs, perfect for sustain-heavy comps.
  • Black Flag – Bonus turns + passive action cycling.

Mid-to-Late Game Shells:

  • Artisan – Defense up and shield combo that synergizes with Rahu’s defense-scaling.
  • Gigabyte – Turn meter gain based on enemy actions.
  • Lighthouse – Heal + Strike Prep when taking 25% HP damage, great for tanking burst.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Extremely high DEF scaling and self-synergy through Wrath.
  • Provides team-wide Defense Up and defense breaks consistently.
  • Great assist follow-up mechanic with built-in debuff transfer.
  • Strong in both PvE and PvP, especially as a bruiser/tank.

Cons

  • Needs time to scale; slow start without support.
  • Lacks burst potential compared to traditional DPS.
  • Needs investment in modules and Shells to hit peak efficiency.
  • May feel more like an enabler than a solo carry in late-game content.
