Yang Animus Spotlight

Yang is one of Etheria: Restart’s most charismatic support-damage hybrids, bringing strong teamwide buffs, self-synergizing crit mechanics, and surprisingly efficient single-target damage.

While his kit might not jump off the page at first glance, he’s a sneaky powerhouse that lowers your team’s gear requirements while still offering dispel, Strike Prep manipulation, and consistent hits alongside his trusty partner, Ado.

In this Article, we are going to be breaking down the best ways to utilize Yang, and how to gear him for the best possible results.

Skill Analysis

Maul (Skill 1):

Yang commands Ado to strike a single target with two hits of 120% damage. On a critical hit, Yang gains 15% Strike Prep. This makes his basic attack a crucial part of maintaining rotation and self-sustain on the turn bar.

Savage Howl (Skill 2):

Ado lets out a buffing howl, granting all allies Attack Up (40%) and Crit Rate Up (30%) for two turns. This dramatically lowers crit rate requirements for your team and helps boost overall damage without needing full offensive builds.

Wolf Assault (Skill 3):

Yang and Ado team up to strike a single target six times (three hits each), dealing 60% damage per hit. Each of Yang’s crits boosts all allies’ Strike Prep by 10% (up to 30%), while each of Ado’s crits has a 45% chance to dispel a buff. This creates a high ceiling for turn acceleration and control.

Skill Investment Order

Skill 3 – Wolf Assault: Priority #1.

  • Damage increases to 60% per hit.
  • Dispel chance raised to 45%.
  • Strike Prep boost maxes out at 10% per crit (up to 30%).
  • Cooldown remains unchanged, but performance spikes massively when maxed.

Skill 1 – Maul: Priority #2.

  • Damage climbs to 120%.
  • Strike Prep boost on crit improves to 15%, letting Yang cycle faster.

Skill 2 – Savage Howl: Lowest priority.

  • Minor Attack stat increases per node (3% per level).
  • Final node reduces cooldown by 1 turn, which is useful for uptime but not urgent to rush

How to Build Yang

Yang thrives on high crit synergy, so your build should lean into offensive stats with some utility on the side.

Early Game Modules:

  • Onslaught (12-set): +45% ATK, pure offensive burst.
  • Momentum (12-set): +12% Crit Rate, bonus damage vs debuffed enemies (up to +30%).

Mid-to-Late Game Modules:

  • Harvest: Ignores 30% DEF if enemy HP > 50%, excellent for burst.
  • Keen Eye: +18% Crit DMG, with ramping damage over first three hits.
  • Fury Edge: +12% Crit Rate, +20% Crit Damage – ideal late-game glass cannon setup.

Stat Priorities

Main Stats:

  • Crit Rate % – Only needs to hit 70% total due to his own teamwide buff.
  • Crit Damage % – Increases burst and synergizes with his high hit count.
  • Attack % – Core damage scaling stat.

Sub Stats:

  • Crit Rate (to reach that 70% baseline)
  • Crit Damage
  • Attack %
  • Effect Accuracy (to help Ado land dispels)
  • Speed (optional for tuning or turn cycling)

Because Yang buffs crit rate for the entire team, you can save heavily on gear rolls and stat spreads elsewhere in your comp.

Shell Recommendations

Recommended Shells:

  • Agent Lizard, Budo Panda, Star, Twilight Knight – Early to mid-game damage amplifiers.
  • Black Flag, Crossroads, Shan Hai Jing, White Fang – More advanced shell setups that enhance damage, utility, or enemy debuff coverage.
  • Golden Lion and Count – Offer high-value synergy in damage-focused teams.

These Shells can be acquired through Shadowrunner progress, elite campaign bosses, or Shell drop events.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Team Buffing Power: Provides both Attack Up and Crit Rate Up—massively valuable and lowers gear pressure.
  • Multi-hit Utility: Applies multiple hits per attack, enabling easy multi-crit and high dispel potential.
  • Turn Cycling: Generates personal Strike Prep through crits and boosts ally turns through his S3.
  • Versatile Support DPS: Can fit into crit-based teams, single-target damage setups, or even support-focused comps.

Cons:

  • No AoE Damage: Entire kit is single-target; not ideal for early-game wave clear.
  • Easily Replaceable Buffs: Other characters like Grey offer similar buffs plus utility like Defense Break.
  • Dependent on Crit Mechanics: Needs proper tuning to hit crit rate thresholds for full effectiveness.
  • Lacks Sustain or Self-Protection: Needs external support or Shells to survive longer fights.
