Ember Trek Season 2
Yes that’s right, as we approach the end of our first month into the full launch of Etheria Restart some modes will be rotating and giving us a fresh take on the game. One of these modes is Ember Trek.
In this article we are going to briefly summarise what the ember trek is, rewards you will find, bosses you will have to face and some of the quirky mechanics that make this mode different.
So without waiting any longer…
What Is Ember Trek?

The ember trek is, essentially, a tower mode. There are 42 floors in this tower that players will have to fight their way through. There is a mixture of open world play and regular fights depending on the floor. Each odd integer is open world, each even is a boss fight. The open world zones function similar to the story, there will be a number of mobs that you will have to defeat, some of which you can sneak up on to speed things up. There are also a number of chests located throughout the map for you to find and open. Upon completion of Normal mode, players will then unlock hard mode. You will fight similar opponents but you may find the order differs and they are obviously way stronger.
What Are The Rewards?

This can be broken down into two different sub categories, the actual rewards for clearing the floor and the Leiboz supply points/shop.
Floor Completion Rewards:
What is says on the tin. Each floor will give you a reward for simply completing it. Every odd floor will give you Etheria Coin and Leiboz Supply points whereas every even floor (boss fight) will give you something a bit more special. These boss floor rewards vary from investigation records (Animus XP books), Shadowprints, Hydra Crystals, Summons, Lattices and more!
Leiboz Supply Points:
Leiboz supply points is a currency that is unique to the ember trek. It only drops there and you can only exchange these tokens there. Each floor will drop a different amount but you can guarantee that you will always get at least 100. Why does 100 matter? Well 100 points is what is required to have a spin on the rewards wheel.
As you see from the image above there are different rewards available. If you have to land on the section with the present and the up arrow on. You then get the opportunity to spin on another wheel offering improved rewards such as summons and red shadowprints. Although some of these rewards are limited to a one time prize.
What Bosses Will I Face?

The bosses in the Ember Trek are a mixture of playable Animus Characters and Grim Pursuit bosses but with a twist. You will have to pick a negative effect to hinder you during the fight. We personally really love this idea, it forces us as players to think and does help to stop us from just steam rolling all the content. The negative effects vary depending on who you are facing. With some of the regular animus it might just be an Atk% increase, speed increase etc…
With some of the grim pursuit bosses the negative effects enhance the mechanics you are used to, increasing their potency. Definitely something players will have to look out for. In normal mode you start by picking one negative effect, but as you climb the tower eventually you will have to pick 3.
At the end of the normal rotation you will face Astarte. What was once the final Grim Pursuit boss, she is now the bane of many peoples lives at the end of the tower. A fight that is based around a lot of RnG and quite difficult for some. She is the only one you won’t see in other areas of the game and for help on how to beat her, check out our guide here:
Unique Ember Trek Mechanics

I have never played a good tower mode in any game that doesn’t have its own unique mechanics. Ember Trek is no different. In the first rotation players had an annoying stun to worry about. The Thunder debuff would apply to a random animus at the start of each floor and after a total of 10 turns taken by our team (2 rotations) you would get stunned and the debuff would move to another animus. This would continue to happen until you either won or lost the floor.
This rotation we have “Venomous Embrace”. At the start of combat a poison mark is randomly placed on an allied animus. When the animus turn begins, they lose a portion of their HP. This is basically a DoT which players will have seen before from the likes of Sharon in Grim Pursuit. Although it isn’t technically a DoT it does function the same and from initial testing and looking at leaderboards, appears to be much easier to deal with. At the time of writing we are only 90 mins into the new rotation with some players having reached floor 32 already. To combat this you can bring Animus like Lingluo, whose Whale Prayer heals over time or Valerian who can provide a shield to your units when they begin their turn.
