Etheria: Restart Livestream Highlights
Etheria: Restart’s Final Test livestream dropped a huge wave of news, and honestly, it feels like we’re about to get spoiled when the game officially launches.
From new characters and bosses to entirely new game modes and events, there’s so much to be excited about.
Let’s break it all down and highlight some key details you might have missed along the way.
New Characters: Freya Leads the Charge

The standout announcement was the reveal of Freya, a new SSR Animus that looks absolutely game-changing. Beyond just a great aesthetic design, Freya’s kit brings a ridiculous amount of utility:
- Dreamweave Buff: Allies gain Dreamweave stacks that purify debuffs automatically.
- Nightmare Debuff: Enemies afflicted take 12% more damage and heal attackers by 12% of the damage dealt.
- Turn Manipulation: She grants allies turn meter whenever they receive buffs and knocks back enemy turns when they get debuffed, ignoring resistance entirely.
- Self-Synergy: Freya herself doubles the effectiveness of these bonuses when she buffs or debuffs.
All of this is packed into her basic abilities. She offers healing, turn push, debuff cleanse, damage amplification, and more, setting her up to completely shift the current meta.
Alongside Freya, several other SSRs were announced, including Rilmocha, Rosa, Tsukiyo Mi, Borgne, and Mia. On the SR side, we’re getting Rin the Unbowed and Marvell. It’s a stacked lineup of new characters that are going to offer tons of new team-building opportunities.
Updated Gacha Systems and Banners

There are a few important changes to the summoning system going forward:
- Target Summons are being updated to include the new characters.
- Limited Banners will still operate with no 50/50 split—meaning the featured unit is a guaranteed focus if you pull them.
- Permanent Banners will now include Freya and all other new units, alongside light and dark characters.
Plus, a Massiah Banner is on the way, featuring one of the community’s favourite units, offering even more options for launch team building.
New Events and Challenge Content

Etheria is coming out swinging with a ton of events ready for the Final Test and official release.
- Anisync Echo: Battle challenges with three difficulties per stage, offering summon currency, modules, upgrade mats, and more. At launch, there will be 30 stages available.
- Cyber Shadows Meme Hunt: Match meme cards to earn resources like six-star upgrade mats and premium currency.
- Cubic Game: A strategy minigame where you place boosts on a board to buff boss battles, aiming for bigger and better rewards.
- Champions Call: A betting-style PvP event where you predict the winner of player battles for free rewards.
- Infinity Train: A 24-wave survival mode with power-ups and stackable card buffs. Clear stages for high-level rewards.
- Candy Party Event: A daily task-driven gacha that gives free summons, upgrade mats, and more just for playing.
All of these are extremely free-to-play friendly and packed with upgrade resources — not just one or two summons here and there, but full six-star mats, premium currency, and dupe resources.
PVP Expansions: Real Competition Incoming

If you like PvP, Etheria is setting up something truly special:
- Etherena: Classic ladder climbing PvP where you attack player defenses and earn currency for upgrades.
- Summit Arena: Real-time PvP matches with live draft, ban/protect phases, and no duplicate picks allowed.
- Fearless Arena: A tournament mode held every weekend. You queue into a group of eight and compete in best-of-three matches for rewards — and you can enter as many times as you want during the event window.
Real-time PvP esports for a gacha game is almost unheard of, and Etheria seems ready to push the boundaries. There will even be official tournaments (EWS Global Invitational) with real-world cash prizes for top players!
Future Content: Guild vs Guild and United Front
Looking ahead to full launch, Etheria will introduce United Front, a guild vs guild competitive event. Full details are still under wraps, but expect structured guild wars and special shops tied to performance rewards. It’s a great addition for players who love the community aspect but want competition beyond solo climbing.
Developer Insights: Balance, Stamina and the Future
During the livestream, some private interviews with Etheria’s producer, Jack, shed light on the philosophy behind the game’s design:
- Balance: The goal is for every strategy to have counters. There shouldn’t be unstoppable “meta” units; everything should have a way to be answered, keeping gameplay diverse and competitive.
- Stamina: No major stamina increases are planned yet, but the developers are monitoring player feedback closely post-launch. For now, stamina is considered generous enough to sustain progression, especially with the flood of free currency offered through gameplay and events.
- Dupes: Etheria maintains a one-copy meta. Dupes add small bonuses but aren’t game-breaking — success comes from build quality and strategy, not wallet size.
