Etheria: Restart – Ninfoniel Playtest
With the arrival of Ninfoniel, players are asking one critical question: is she worth summoning? Many hoped she would provide a much-needed answer to the punishing Rengokutsu dungeon. This spotlight breaks down her strengths, weaknesses, and performance across different content to see if she lives up to the hype.
Ninfoniel at a Glance
Ninfoniel is positioned as a support unit, bringing a blend of shielding and team utility:
- Shield Generation – Her core skill creates a shield that also increases damage while it’s active.
- Immunity Buff – A chosen ally gains immunity for two turns, offering valuable protection.
- HP Scaling – Shield strength scales with her HP, making high HP investment crucial.
While her design suggests defensive reliability, the reality depends heavily on rank, gear, and the content she faces. At rank five, her shield is too fragile to consistently protect a team.
Testing Against Rengokutsu
Rengokutsu is a notoriously difficult boss, and Ninfoniel was widely speculated to be the solution. However, multiple test runs revealed that she struggles to meet expectations.
Key Findings:
- Shield Durability – The shield collapses almost instantly under the boss’s immense damage output.
- Underwhelming Damage Boost – Instead of a % damage boost, Ninfoniel only provides an additional attack buff layered onto existing buffs. This results in modest gains rather than a game-changing impact.
- Inconsistent Survival – Teams with Ninfoniel often failed runs that were otherwise stable without her.
A potential improvement would be the addition of damage reduction versus bosses while the shield is active. This would avoid disrupting PvP balance while giving her meaningful utility in PvE.
Team Synergy and Alternatives
Different team configurations were explored:
- With Liliam – Double immunity offered some stability, but overall survivability remained low.
- With Cachi – Stun control provided temporary relief, yet runs still ended in failure.
- Without Ninfoniel – Replacing her with even lower-tier units produced significantly more consistent success.
This makes it clear that her inclusion does not currently improve results in the Rengokutsu fight.
Performance in Other Content
Ninfoniel’s struggles are not limited to Rengokutsu. In Terrormaton, for example, substituting her for Valerian quickly exposed her shortcomings. Valerian’s invincibility and equalization mechanics outperformed Ninfoniel’s shielding, leading to smoother clears.
Outside of these high-end dungeons, Ninfoniel’s kit has some merit. In mid-tier PvE content, her shields and immunity can provide reliable utility. However, compared to stronger supports, she remains a secondary option rather than a centerpiece.
Final Thoughts
After extensive testing, the verdict is clear:
- Against Rengokutsu – Ninfoniel is not the solution. Her shield is too fragile, and her damage boost does not provide enough impact.
- In Broader Content – She offers supportive value, but her role overlaps with stronger, more dependable units.
- Summon Recommendation – Players should not summon her solely for Rengokutsu. She may be worth considering for general content, but only if resources are abundant.
Ninfoniel’s design holds promise, yet without adjustments—such as damage reduction against bosses or a true % damage boost—she fails to deliver on the expectations set before her release.
