With the introduction of the Hydra boss into the game. We decided to have a look to see if there are other champions in the game that come from the Mythical world! And we have found a few!

Raid Shadow Legends is no stranger to taking inspiration from all walks of life and the Mythical world is no different. Take the Hydra Boss. Hydra in Greek and Roman mythology is a serpentine water monster, and Its lair was the lake of Lerna in the Argolid, Lerna was reputed to be an entrance to the Underworld, and it is believed that the Hydra serpent has many heads. In the Hydra story, it adds a regeneration feature to the monster: for every head chopped off, the Hydra would regrow two heads. Making it an exceedingly difficult monster to defeat. Sounds familiar!

In connection with the Hydra boss, when you get a chest reward you get fragments for the Champion Mithrala Lifebane, who strikes a remarkable resemblance to the Snake Haired Medusa from Greek Mythology. Raid themselves has confirmed that this is where they got their inspiration from.

The Dragon from the Dragons Lair is also a take on a mythical beast or more so a folklore beast from the best-selling novel by J.R.R Tolkien. This Dragon with all his gold around him and his fiery breath takes the presence of the dragon Smaug from the book the hobbit

There are many more champions that are taken from mythology to name a few.

The Griffin, the Doom Tower Boss is taken from the mythical beast of the same name. and of course, the Minotaur Labyrinth is a direct take on the Greek myth, the Minotaur, who was believed to be the offspring of the queen of Crete and a majestic bull that came from the sea. The Minotaur had the body of a man with the head and tail of a bull. King Minos was so horrified by this creation that he had a complicated maze called the Labyrinth built in order to imprison him.

A special note for the recent fusion Champion Vlad the Nightborn, is a take from Bram Stokers best selling novel Dracula who was inspired by the Romanian leader “Vlad the Impaler” who’s fathers was named Vlad Dracul

Raid Shadow Legends is clearly inspired by myths from across the world and we think they have done an amazing job bringing them to life. What Bosses or champions do you think look like mythical beasts? Let us know in the comments below, we love hearing from you!
