Zenless Zone Zero: 5 Best Teams in the Game

With the release of Zhu Yuan this week, we’re bringing you an updated list of the 5 best teams in Zenless Zone Zero for patch 1.0! Check back in a couple of weeks for our updated list when the new agents from patch 1.1 are added to the game.

The Ice team is the current strongest team in the game. Ellen Joe, the first limited S-rank agent, is the main source of damage on this team, bringing huge burst damage against stunned enemies. 

Lycaon, the best standard S-rank agent, is her perfect teammate since he excels at applying daze and stunning enemies, on top of increasing the stun damage multiplier and lowering enemies Ice resistance.  

Finally, Soukaku is a great choice to round the team out. She was boosted on Ellen’s exclusive channel, so many players will have high mindscapes for her. She deals a decent chunk of Ice damage and boosts the Ice damage of her team which works very well with both Lycaon and Ellen. Finally, she can give a huge attack buff to Ellen. 

Alternatives for the team include swapping Soukaku for Rina or Nicole, or using a different stun or support agent if you haven’t pulled Lycaon. 

Sharkboo is the best bangboo for the Ice team.

With the release of Zhu Yuan, players can finally build a team focused on Ether damage that rivals the Ice team in power. 

Zhu Yuan is the core of this team, being the first limited S-rank Ether damage dealer—and, in fact, the only ether damage dealer in the game. She has burst damage against stunned enemies, so she wants stun and support agents on her team. 

Nicole is her ideal teammate, being the only other ether agent in the game. Nicole boosts ether damage for the team, allows Ether bangboos to be used to max efficiency, helps group up enemies and sets up Zhu Yuan for quick assists and chain attacks. 

Anby is currently the final member of this team since she brings in a good amount of stun and shares the Cunning Hares faction with Nicole. Zhu Yuan gains bonus damage against stunned enemies, so you want to stun as much as possible for huge chain attacks and burst damage. 

Alternatives for the team are any other support agent and any other stun agent, though with Nicole being boosted on Zhu Yuan’s exclusive channel and being so powerful it is highly recommended to run her on this team whenever possible. 

Resonaboo is the best bangboo for the Ether team.

One team has been growing with popularity since the game launched which builds around the Disorder effect: when two different anomalies are applied to the same element, a disorder is triggered for big bursts of damage. 

Grace is the best agent for this team as the only S-rank anomaly agent so far. She excels at building up extremely powerful shock anomalies very quickly. 

Piper is her current ideal teammate, even though she is only an A-rank agent, since she is the only other anomaly agent in the game. Piper can quickly build up the assault anomaly which then triggers Grace’s shocks for hard-hitting Disorders. 

Lucy or Rina round out this team as support agents. Rina is ideal since she shares the electric element with Grace and she extends the duration of shock, drastically increasing the damage that Grace can deal. Lucy is a good A-rank option as well since she shares the Sons of Calydon faction with Piper and she provides consistent damge boosts to the team. 

Luckyboo, the new free event bangboo, is the best bangboo for the Disorder team.

The fire team is not as strong as the top teams right now since it lacks any limited agents, but it still performs very well against enemies that are weak to fire. 

Soldier 11 is the key agent for this team as the only fire damage dealer currently in the game. 

Koleda is the perfect stun agent for this team, since Soldier 11 needs another fire agent to activate her additional ability. 

Lucy is the ideal final agent for the fire team due to the substantial damage boosts she provides as a support agent. Ben is also a decent choice, where you will give up the damage boosts of a support for extra daze and shielding, plus enhancing Koleda’s attacks. 

Rocketboo is the best bangboo for the fire team. 

The electric team rounds out our top 5 list. This team is very similar to the disorder team, but swaps in Anton or Anby instead of Piper to focus on pure electric damage. In our opinion, this is weaker than the disorder team since disorder makes better use of Grace who is the strongest electric damage agent, but it the mono-electric team is a decent choice for players who haven’t built Piper or who have multiple mindscapes for Anton. 

Grace is a great damage agent for this team since she applies extremely powerful Shock anomalies. 

Anton brings big burst damage to the team and can activate shocks with his additional ability for significant extra damage. If you pulled for Ellen’s exclusive channel or w-engine then you might have mutiple copies of Anton and his signature w-engine, Drill Rig, making him quite strong. 

Rina is also perfect for this team by bringing large damage boosts and extending the duration of shock. 

The main alternative for this team is swapping in Anby instead of Grace or Rina, which gives you a much better team for building stun and enabling Anton to focus on bursting down stunned enemies. 

Plugboo is the best bangboo for this team.
