RAID’s Clan System Fails Players Again with Relic Grind Wall
RAID: Shadow Legends has recently introduced a new wave of content, including extended Clan levels, new relics, and progression-based rewards. On paper, these additions sound like a step in the right direction. In practice, however, they highlight an ongoing problem – a system that severely overestimates both player time and patience.
A History of Poor Progression Balancing
RAID’s Clan systems have always had growing pains. When Clans were first introduced, leveling up was painfully slow. It wasn’t until Plarium added personal reward systems like CvC milestones that Clan XP became even remotely manageable. Now, with Clan levels extending to 30 and powerful relics locked behind those top tiers, we’re seeing a repeat of the same design flaw — but worse.
The current economy behind Clan progression is unsustainable. Even the most active, high-performing Clans are looking at a multi-year journey just to unlock the opportunity to craft a single relevant relic. That’s not a grind — it’s a dead end.

The Core Problem: Locked Relics
The newly introduced Chrysalid of Rebirth relic is potentially one of the strongest support relics to date. When fully upgraded, it guarantees a bonus turn after reviving an ally — a huge boon for champions like Duchess. But acquiring it is another story entirely.
The only way to access this relic (and others in its set) is by reaching Clan Level 30 and purchasing Gilded Medallions from the Clan Shop. However, reaching level 30 requires over 3 million Clan XP — a number that is completely unrealistic under current systems.
Assuming perfect performance — all Clan members completing maximum activities, winning every Siege and Clash, finishing top-tier CVCs, and completing every Clan Quest — the average Clan could earn about 87,000 Clan XP per month. At that pace, hitting Level 30 would take more than three years. And that’s the best-case scenario.
Even after reaching Level 30, there’s no guarantee of obtaining Gilded Medallions regularly. The shop rotation is random, and players may go weeks without seeing them. When they do appear, the quantities are minimal, and crafting relics from them still involves RNG — with low chances of actually landing a legendary or mythical relic, even after significant effort.

The Inevitable Power Creep
What makes this system even more frustrating is the rapid pace at which relics are being power crept. Initial releases like Cat’s Gaze and Hallowed Hilt quickly established themselves as meta-defining, only to be followed by even stronger options in newer updates. At this rate, relics locked behind a three-year grind will likely be outdated before most players ever see them.
Without a way to reasonably access these relics, their impact on the game becomes negligible. Worse, players feel alienated — not because the content is difficult, but because it’s structurally unreachable.

Solving the Issue
To restore meaning and accessibility to the relic system, several changes are needed:
Increase Access to Gilded Medallions: These should not be locked exclusively behind high Clan levels. Medallions could be introduced as rewards in events like CBC, Hydra, or Chimera — not just from the Clan Shop.
Revamp the Clan Shop: Many existing items in the shop (such as potion packs or outdated gear) are not useful to most players. These could be replaced or supplemented with medallions to give more value to Clan Gold.
Improve Reward Frequency: Instead of making medallion access a 1-in-4 weekly gamble, they should appear consistently. Even if quantities remain limited, predictability would make them feel worth pursuing.
Reassess Clan Level Rewards: The current stat boosts (like an extra 8% campaign silver or a few extra multi-battles) are underwhelming. Rebalancing these to feel impactful would make progression more meaningful.

Final Thoughts
RAID’s relic system has the potential to redefine gameplay. New relics bring exciting mechanics and unique combinations that deepen strategic builds. But when those relics are locked behind years of grinding and chance-based access, their value quickly evaporates.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with long-term goals in games. But those goals must remain achievable and engaging. As it stands, the Clan progression and relic acquisition systems feel like content designed to be forgotten — buried under impossible odds and timelines.
If Plarium wants this new system to matter, they’ll need to act fast. Because players aren’t going to wait three years for gear that might already be obsolete by the time it’s in their hands.
The system is a joke all the way around. I just pretend like this content doesn’t exist. My clan just reached lvl 18…
