When she was young, Ashei’s mentor Yoari filled her with stories of the ancient shamans who wielded great power before the dry times. These tales ignited a deep ambition within her to command that same forgotten strength. At just fifteen, Ashei ventured into forbidden lands in search of it. There, she encountered the Void. Believing it to be a force beyond life and death, she willingly embraced the Taint.

Upon returning to her village, Ashei displayed sorcery far surpassing Yoari’s own. Her mentor stepped aside, but Ashei had no interest in the traditional duties of a shaman. Instead, she used her position to pursue greater power, chasing rumors and legends that might elevate her even further.

This pursuit led her to the tale of the Eel of the Grasses, a colossal serpent said to dwell deep within the dreaming plains. Many hunters from her tribe had ventured there and never returned, and those who did refused to speak of what they had seen. Undeterred, Ashei set out to find the creature. Using her Tainted gifts, she followed the survivors’ fragmented accounts, then tracked the remains of the serpent’s victims all the way to its lair.

When the monster struck, Ashei allowed herself to be swallowed whole… but it was she who devoured the serpent from within. Merging with the creature, she claimed its immense physical power and predatory instincts, enhancing them further with the Void’s dark sorcery. What emerged after this transformation was no longer human, but an immortal Consumed of terrifying strength.

Yet the gifts of the Void are never without cost. Despite her newfound power, Ashei was left with an insatiable hunger that could never be satisfied.
Even after being reclaimed by the Hunters, who named her Ashei the Endless, that hunger remained—driving her ever onward in her relentless pursuit of greater power.
