Nadia Information
Nadia and her younger sister were both inducted into Order military training after their parents, nobles outspoken against the Church, were hung as heretics without public trial. An intelligent youth with a tendency toward skepticism absorbed from her parents, Nadia never believed the Order’s accusations, nor was she convinced by their obviously manufactured “evidence.”
Nadia hated the Church, and was resentful and insubordinate toward her superiors, for which she was flogged, isolated, and forced to go without rations countless times. Nadia endured, considering the best plan for deserting with her younger sister when she was old enough.
By the final year of her apprenticeship, Nadia was growing frustrated with her sister Natalie’s fervent adoption of the Church’s teachings. She knew that if she was going to pry her sister away from the Order, she needed to act soon. She often snuck out of the barracks at night to visit taverns, hoping to make contacts that would help them on the outside. That was how Nadia met Twist and Leo and formulated a plan for her and Natalie to become Hunters. Natalie would have none of it, though. Instead, she raised the alarm and delayed Nadia so that the older sister actually had to kill a paladin in order to escape.
Since becoming a Hunter, Nadia has adopted a lot of Twist’s irreverence, but like Leo believes the mission of the Hunters is a worthwhile one, not just a way to quick coin. She hates the Order more than ever for besmirching her parents’ names and turning her only sibling against her, but she has learned much more about the Order’s hypocrisies. Now she has no pity for those like Natalie who have allowed themselves to become, as she sees it, “brainwashed” zealots. What she cares about now is taking care of those few she trusts and others persecuted by ecclesiastical “justice.”
