Voltz Information

The spark of creativity is strong in the dwarves of the Crucible. In some, it could be said it courses perhaps a little too strongly. Voltz’s mine overseer parents realized this was the case with their son very early on. Always eager to push the threshold of risk beyond prudence, the young dwarf was assigned to the repairs department of the artificers’ guild and given his own workshop. There his fascination with the machines used to carve precious ore from their rocky environs could be put to good — and relatively harmless — use.
Voltz worked quickly, fixing more equipment than he blew up, and earned some autonomy — a rare commodity in the highly structured society of the Crucible. Autonomy meant free time, which he spent on his pet project: re-engineering mining machinery to discharge concentrated Crystallium energy. But his work began to worry other dwarves, who feared he’d bring the mountain down on everyone’s heads. Voltz itched for greater freedom to experiment with his still unstable designs.
When a mining team uncovered a Void lair in the mines, Hunters were contracted to clear it out. Voltz, acting without permission, joined them. He reveled in the chance to prove his admittedly wild imagination led to more than reckless endangerment. His Crystallium weapon proved itself highly effective as he took out more of the enemy even than the Hunters.
Voltz’s furious parents threatened banishment, a frightening proposition for most dwarves. Voltz, though, had enticing opportunities above ground, for the Hunters had invited him to join their company.
