How to Solo Bommal and Scarab on a Free-to-Play Account

Two of the most frustrating encounters in Raid: Shadow Legends’ Doom Tower are the Bommal the Dreadhorn and the Scarab King. For many players, especially those running free-to-play accounts, these bosses can feel like progress-stopping walls. But there’s a secret weapon that makes them beatable — even without top-tier gear or high-end legendaries.

This is where a simple strategy using underrated champions, smart gearing, and a bit of patience comes into play.

Templar: The Unexpected Solo Carry

templar

One of the most surprising picks for tackling both Bommal and the Scarab King solo is none other than Templar — a Rare champion that most players would ignore entirely. While he won’t win any awards for flashy skills, his block damage ability allows him to outlast even the most punishing boss mechanics.

With nothing more than a mix of Regeneration and Immortal gear, Templar can stand toe-to-toe with these bosses thanks to passive healing and his built-in survivability. He doesn’t need books, he doesn’t need high speed, and he doesn’t need a team. In fact, solo is often the best way to take on these two Doom Tower bosses.

His success comes down to staying alive through healing, mitigating mechanics with block damage, and slowly letting the bosses damage themselves or fall to attrition. It’s not a fast fight — expect runs to take 45 to 55 minutes — but it’s dependable, and most importantly, silver-efficient.

Alternative Strategies: Poison Reflect & Bloodshield Builds

Toragi the Frog

While Templar is a solid, low-cost option, he’s not the only champion who can get the job done. Poison reflect champions offer a much faster route to victory, particularly against the Scarab King.

Champions like Toragi the Frog or Urost the Soulcage can take advantage of the Scarab’s multiple-hit attacks. Their passive skills place poison debuffs on attackers, which stack up quickly and tear through the boss’s health in a fraction of the time. The catch? They need to survive long enough to do it. Regeneration, Guardian, or Bolster gear helps keep them in the fight.

Another highly effective method is using Bloodshield accessories. These provide a small shield whenever the wearer lands a hit, bypassing one of the Scarab King’s key mechanics — counterattacks when attacking without a shield. With Bloodshield gear, you can avoid provoking the boss entirely, allowing your champion to use their abilities and even heal themselves with turn-based skills or masteries.

Even champions with basic kits can become viable for Scarab when paired with Bloodshield gear and a bit of passive healing, giving you plenty of options to work with, even on a budget account.

The Takeaway: Strategy Outshines Rarity

The key message here is simple: you don’t need legendary champions or endless resources to tackle high-end PvE content in Raid: Shadow Legends. Whether it’s a solo strategy with Templar, a poison-reflect setup with Toragi, or clever gear use with Bloodshield accessories, there are multiple ways to overcome Doom Tower bosses like Bommal and Scarab — even on a free-to-play account.

Yes, these fights can be long. And yes, they may require a little gear optimization. But they’re achievable. With the right builds and mindset, there’s almost nothing in the game that’s truly out of reach.
Now’s the time to dust off that forgotten champion, throw some regen gear on them, and see just how far they can go.
