Jingwon – Champion Spotlight

After YST repeated “Jingwon” 5,000 times live on stream in a quest for his justice, Raid finally gave the champion a buff – but it wasn’t quite what he deserved. However, he later received another buff, and this time it transformed him into a powerhouse across many areas of the game. Whether it’s Hydra, Arena, wave content, or the Event Dungeon, his unique passive and combination of effects make him a top tier option for a variety of encounters.

In today’s article, we’ll break down the content he shines in, optimal builds, and how much stronger he’s become after the latest buff!

EVENT DUNGEON

The Queen of Hearts opens with an ability that applies True Fear to all enemies, making it difficult to keep your team in sync unless countered. Thanks to his Unchained passive, he is not only immune to crowd control effects but can also remove these effects from allies at the end of an enemy or ally’s turn. This alone makes him a strong addition to an Event Dungeon team.

His Block Active Skills and Block Buffs further ensure that enemy allies can’t use their active abilities or receive buffs. Even if you have enemies controlled with effects like Stun, his ability to lock them out of their skills is a great backup for those moments when a 3% resist happens. Additionally, he can remove buffs from enemies, apply Decrease Accuracy and Decrease Crit Damage, and boosts team survivability with Strengthen.

Hydra Clan Boss

Block Buffs is a crucial debuff when facing the Hydra, preventing the heads from receiving or spreading buffs while under its effect. The ability to apply this to all enemies and extend the duration of all debuffs keeps control in your favor. Since the Hydra rebalance, decapitated heads can respawn faster due to their HP bar, and if you’re taking them down quickly, there may be moments where a head manages to get a buff through.

For example, if Increase Attack or Reflect Damage is applied, his A3 can remove all enemy buffs, apply Decrease Accuracy to lower the resistance required to resist debuffs, and places Strengthen to help your team withstand incoming damage. If the Head of Wrath controls your allies with Provoke, his passive can remove it, keeping your rotation intact. With Quick Battles now available, he’s an excellent choice for one of your Hydra teams, offering valuable support, even if things happen to go wrong. His two AOE attacks also open the door for using sets like Provoke for crowd control or Cursed for additional damage.

ARENA

Against enemies like Tormin or those that rely on crowd control in Arena, his passive is an excellent counter to prevent your allies from being instantly controlled. Additionally, Block Active Skills is a powerful effect to stop Mythical champions from Metamorphing into their alternate forms, while forcing enemies to rely only on their default attacks until the effect wears off or is cleansed.

With his A2 on a three turn cooldown, a fast build allows you to cycle it frequently and maintain control over enemies. Meanwhile, his A3 removes buffs from all enemies, applies debuffs like Decrease Accuracy, and places Strengthen on your team for added survivability. His A1 also has a chance to Stun, providing an extra layer of crowd control. Jingwon can be a strong pick for faction limited Siege stages.

How To Build Jingwon

The way you build Jingwon can vary depending on the encounter. In Hydra, a Provoke set can help control the Head of Decay, while a Cursed set adds utility by applying Hex through his AoE attacks. In Arena, Stoneskin is a solid option for survivability, while a Pinpoint’s Intercept stacks or Feral can prevent triggering Polymorph when placing debuffs or removing enemy buffs.

No matter which direction you choose, be sure to focus on enough Accuracy and Speed for the content you’re tackling, along with sufficient sustain to withstand incoming damage.

The key stats to look for on Jingwon are:

  1. ACC

OTHER PLACES TO USE JINGWON

One standout area where Jingwon excels is the Dragon’s Lair, where his A1 allows him to transfer all debuffs from himself to the boss. In a tanky regeneration build with sufficient accuracy, he can consistently send poisons back to the Dragon. Beyond that, his abilities make him highly effective for crowd controlling waves in places like The Cursed City, Doom Tower, and various dungeons.

His utility lies in blocking enemy active skills, preventing buffs from being placed, removing buffs, and countering crowd control effects for your team. It’s fair to say that after his second buff, Jingwon is finally strong enough to handle many encounters across the game!
