LEGATE TEOX – THE ANTI-SPEED KING!
In Raid: Shadow Legends, finding the perfect champion synergy can dramatically shift the tide of battles. One such synergy is the combination of Legate Teox and Kalvalax, a pairing that opens up new strategies, particularly against speed-based teams in the arena, or wave-based content!
The Power of Teox
Teox shines due to his formidable damage output and unique turn meter manipulation. With his ability to self-buff and apply block revive on debuffed enemies, Teox becomes an essential tool in taking down even the most resilient teams. His turn meter gain mechanic from his Passive Skill, where he fills it by 5% whenever a debuff is applied, sets the stage for some intriguing gameplay mechanics when paired with heavy debuffs, and notably, Champions who apply their debuffs at the start of a turn, such as Kalvalax.
Enter Kalvalax
Kalvalax synergizes perfectly with Teox, thanks to his passive ability to apply multiple poison debuffs at the start of each round. When combined with Teox’s passive, this can lead to an immediate full turn meter boost, allowing Taox to act before the enemy can react. In PvE, Kalvalax’s four poison debuffs across five enemies translate into a 100% turn meter fill for Teox, ensuring he takes the first turn, regardless of his speed.
Arena Strategy – Outspeeding the Speedsters
This combo’s most exciting application is in the arena, where it can be used to counter high-speed teams that rely on champions like Arbiter. Even against teams with six-star speed banners and no speed aura on your side, the Teox-Kalvalax combo can outpace and decimate the opposition. By leveraging Kalvalax’s poisons, Teox can take his turn before the enemy team has a chance to act, effectively flipping the script on speed-based strategies following by a devastating amount of damage, and Block Revives, making it hard for the team to recover and come out victorious.
Potential Counters and Challenges
While this strategy is powerful, it is not without its counters. Stone Skin champions and teams with high resistance can disrupt the debuff-dependent mechanics of this duo. Additionally, polymorph effects pose a significant threat, especially if the enemy has high enough accuracy to bypass resistance. However, building Kalvalax with high resistance and accuracy can mitigate these risks, allowing the strategy to function effectively in most scenarios.
Unfortunately, though, there is no way around the Stoneskin or Immunity teams with this go-first approach.
Overall thoughts of this strategy
The Teox and Kalvalax combo is a potent and fun strategy that can catch many opponents off guard, particularly in arena battles. While it has its limitations, its ability to counter speed teams and dominate Doom Tower stages makes it a valuable tool in any player’s arsenal. As more players experiment with this synergy, it’s likely to become a popular choice in Siege and other challenging content.
