Month 2 of F2P 2025 Changes Everything!

In this guide, Nub breaks down the key strategies and decisions in his free-to-play Raid Shadow Legends journey as he moves into month 2 of his new account. From selecting champions to optimizing gear and more, this article provides practical insights for players looking to improve their own accounts in the early game.

Month 1: Building a Strong Foundation

In the first month of play, my focus was on creating a strong core team. Key champions like Kael, Tagoar, Uugo, and Sigmund were prioritized to establish a reliable lineup that would be used for essentially every area of the game. Building foundational champions early ensures clear progression in Dungeons, Faction Wars, and Clan Boss.

Key Takeaways:

  • Start with a campaign farmer (Kael was the choice here, then he was succeeded by Alice in the second half of the month).
  • Prioritize champions that provide key buffs and debuffs (such as Increase SPD from Tagoar, Decrease DEF from Uugo, and Decrease ATK from Sigmund).
  • Balance offense and defense by mixing tanky and damage-dealing champions.

Month 2: Expanding the Roster

With the core team in place, my second month will focus on expanding options. New level 60 champions will be added to (strengthen my teams by replacing champions in specific areas, such as Rugnor Goldgleam replacing Uugo in Demon Lord. Another primary goal is to push hard in Faction Wars, Doom Tower, and Cursed City, which requires diversifying my roster dramatically–even level 40 or 50 champions can have a big impact here.

Key Additions and Their Roles:

  • Rugor Goldgleam: Brought in to replace Uugo in Clan Boss, offering more reliable Leech debuff and bringing Weaken alongside Decrease DEF.
  • Jingwon: Became crucial for Doom Tower and Event Dungeon progression, replacing Kael’s low damage with CC debuffs and CC protection.
  • Sabitha: Now worth considering in my opinion, since better ATK and DEF stats on my newer gear will combo well with her buffs.
  • Vergis: A potential tank option with a 3 turn cooldown Ally Protection buff that might help push bosses, particularly Demom Lord and Scarab.

Month 2: Maximizing Clan Boss Performance

I reached Nightmare Clan Boss in month one, so now my next goal is ensuring a stable two-key result for Nightmare and to look forwards to 4-keying Ultra-Nightmare.

Clan Boss Strategy:

  • Rugnor was tested for his Weaken and Leech debuffs, but I’ve been disappointed so far. Better gear should scale with his debuffs more.
  • Sigmund has played a crucial role in mitigating damage and he seems irreplacable.
  • Kael’s Poison damage is staying relevant with the Nature’s Bounty blessing, but I’m considering upgrading to an epic poisoner like Aothar.
  • Stun targeting is an issue with my team, so I’ll need to consider switching my team order or stats to stop Sigmund from being stunned.

Month 2: Progress in Faction Wars and Doom Tower

Faction Wars has become the top priority for acquiring five and six-star gear which is essential for long-term account progression. Now that I’ve pulled a few decent epics and rares, it’s time to push to key stages to farm epic and legendary Forge materials.

Faction War Highlights:

  • I’ve already pushed well with my core team in Bannerlords, Sacred Order, and Dark Elves.
  • Shadowkin was sitting at 0 stars, but Jingwon will now let me push to stage 13.
  • The first goal is to farm stage 8 for epic materials, but more importantly to move on to stage 13 for legendary ones.
  • Faction War stars are not a priority for me until month 3, I simply want the gear.

Doom Tower Progress:

  • Jingwon replaced Kael in all battles due to his A2 providing Block Active Skills.
  • Jingwon and Sigmund can effectively permanently lock out even Hard Doom Tower waves together.
  • I fully cleared Normal Doom Tower and have pushed up into the 40s of Hard before the monthly reset.
  • I’m now planning ahead for tough Rotation 3 bosses like Scarab King and Bommal.

Month 2: Hydra & Chimera Boss Battles

While Ultra-Nightmare Demon Lord is the top priority, I’m personally more excited to push further into the other Clan Bosses.

Chimera Performance:

  • Easy difficulty went down in the second half of month 1.
  • I’ve now smashed Normal difficulty with almost 28m damage.
  • Hard difficulty is the next goal, though I’m unsure if I need to make any team changes yet (I’m using the same team as my Demon Lord one).

Hydra Clan Boss:

  • This is a painful boss for early game accounts.
  • I’ve secured 4M damage on normal, which is getting me the second chest.
  • Ultimately, a new account is simply targetting Mithrala fragments, so we’re doing fine.
  • An AoE HP Burn champion would make life a lot easier, otherwise we simply need to push our gear further.

Final Thoughts & Next Steps

The second month of the F2P challenge marks a key shift for me, from focusing on one core team for everything to building many new champions for specific Faction War, Doom Tower, and other progression teans. While some champion investments, like Rugnor, have been underwhelming so far, others, such as Jingwon, have exceeded expectations.

Key Next Steps:

  • Diversify the roster for Faction Wars and Doom Tower.
  • Do a radical regearing when the next Free Gear Removal event arrives.
  • Experiment with alternative champions like Aothar, Sabitha, and Vergis.

By focusing on these things I’m confident in maintaining a strong place on the leaderboards for month 2 of the F2P 2025 Challenge in Raid: Shadow Legends. Stay tuned for further updates and strategy insights!
