Royal Guard Overview

This elite warrior has spent decades guarding the halls of Aravia, sworn to protect Queen Arbiter at all costs. With a single swing of his longsword, he can bring down some of the most powerful beasts in Teleria – and it’s even rumoured he can slay the Spider Queen with ease. Royal Guard is an Epic Attack champion from the High Elves faction.

Royal Guard has been a staple in player teams since the early stages of Raid, best known for his powerful Enemy MAX HP nuke that hits all enemies. While the introduction of higher stage Dungeons and boss passives that cap Enemy MAX HP damage at 10% limits the potential of his A2, Royal Guard remains a valuable Epic for both progression and late game content. This is still a significant amount of damage to deal to a boss, and when paired with other champions who serve a similar role – like Gnut & Coldheart – you can quickly deplete a boss’s health.

Leading into his A3, this random quad hitting attack can place Decrease Speed and reduce the target’s Turn Meter by 25%. Against single target bosses like the Dark Fae or Fire Knight, all hits are focused on the boss, allowing for reliable Turn Meter control and placement of Decrease Speed. Even today, he remains one of the best champions for speed farming the Dark Fae, with his Enemy MAX HP nuke and speed control covering multiple essential roles. Additionally, his A1 places Decrease Defence, which pairs well with an ally applying Weaken to maximize damage output.

Overall, whether you’re taking on the mighty heads of Hydra, climbing through Spider stages, or facing Doom Tower and Cursed City bosses, Royal Guard is definitely an Enemy MAX HP champion worth investing in.

Understanding Arena Roles

Champions normally form specific roles within an arena team. Our ratings define the roles that the champion fits and rates them on their ability to perform the roles. Below you can see a breakdown of all of our roles.

Cleanser

Champions with the Cleanser role will use their skills to remove debuffs and keep them from being re-applied.

Crowd Control

Champions with the Crowd Control role will use their skills to place soft (i.e. Provoke or Taunt) and hard (i.e Freeze or Stun) debuffs to disable enemy champions.

Damage

Champions with the Damage role will have skills that deal significant damage and are designed to defeat enemy champions.

Damage Absorption

Champions with the Damage Absorption role will have skills or effects that reduce the incoming damage your team takes. This can be through passive damage reduction or by applying skills such as Strengthen or Shields.

Healer

Champions with the Healer role will have skills that restore your champion's Health including Continuous Heals.

Debuffer

Champions with the Debuffer role will have skills that place debuffs that don't fall into Crowd Control or Skill Manipulator roles i.e. Decrease Defence. These champions may also have skills that remove Buffs.

Revive

Champions with the Revive role will have skills that bring your ally champions back from the dead including Revive on Death buffs.

Skill Manipulator

Champions with the Skill Manipulator role will have skills that increase enemy skill cooldowns or reduce your ally skill cooldowns.

Speed Manipulator

Champions with the Speed Manipulator role will have skills that affect the turn meter of your allies or enemies. This includes speed buffs and debuffs aswell as direct turn meter effects.
