Ugir the Wyrmeater Overview
Of all the Drakehunters in the Ogryn Tribes, there are none with more renown than Ugir. His reputation has earned him the title of Wyrmeater and he wears the skulls of the fallen lizardmen from his hunts as armor. His hunt begins in Teleria as part of the November 2023 Fragment Fusion Event.
If you have ever faced a reviver in Arena who places Block Damage like Mighty Ukko or places Veil like Duchess Lilitu and this has cost you victory, then Ugir is your best solution for this team. His passive is what sets him apart from other champions, which causes his A2, Earth Puncture, to activate when an enemy revives a champion. Earth Puncture will attack every enemy, removing all their buffs and then placing Weaken. Whilst this is an incredible counter to buff heavy revivers, there are some key things to note. If the A2 weak hits, then it likely doesnt activate the buff removal or Weaken and the passive will only activate when a champion is revived from an Active ability. This means Revive on Death buffs and more importantly for high level arena, Marichka Passive, will not activate this passive. The passive also has a 1 turn cooldown when booked meaning you will need to allow Ugir to take a turn.
His A3 adds further support to the team by giving your champions the buff that is most relevant to their damage. Your champions will receive an Increase Attack or Increase Defence buff (whichever stat is greatest on their builds) alongside an Increase Accuracy. This combination ensures he can run alongside any type of damage dealer. He also brings a single target Block Buffs and a Buff Steal on the A1 which could prove useful into single target encounters.
Overall Ugir looks to be an exceptional counter into teams depending on revive however he does copy existing Epic Champions with the A2 mirroring Rian the Conjurer‘s A2 (who does not attack so is affinity Friendly) and Giscard the Sigiled A3 (which places both buffs without conditions). Both of these abilities are easier to pull off with less resources however the Passive may prove to be significant enough to overlook this.
