Void Hunters Patrol Feature

Void Hunter Patrols

Patrols are a way for players to passively gain resources in Void Hunters.

Patrols are a semi AFK mechanic and they function similar to a quest board that you see in other games like World Of Warcraft. Players will send their units out on patrol for a set amount of time and once the patrol is completed the player will gain some rewards.

Below we have done a little FAQ to help players better understand how the Patrols feature works.

How Do I Unlock Patrols?

Void Hunters Patrols

A player unlocks a patrol when they discover a new Hunting Ground. The first one (Old World Remains) becomes available to players very early on, with the others following not too long after.

How Many Patrols Are There?

There is a total of 4 patrols currently in the Void Hunters Alpha. Each one is associated with one of the Hunting Grounds. We know there will be a total of 8 Hunting Grounds on full launch but it is unknown whether there will be more Patrols when the full game releases.

How Long Is Each Patrol?

Void Hunter Patrol Times

The amount of time a patrol takes is up to a player.  They start at 4 hours and, once unlocked, go all the way up to 20 hours.

You unlock longer duration patrols by progressing in the Hunting Ground related to it. So its important to improve your standings in these.

The longer a patrol is out for, the better the reward is.

Do I Lose Access To My Characters When They Are On Patrol?

No. This is the best thing about patrols.

In some games when you send a unit out on a quest like this, you are not able to physically use them in game.

That is not the case in Void Hunters, so there is no reason why you should not be doing the Patrols as soon as they are available, its just free rewards!

What Are The Rewards?

When a Patrol returns players can get a variety of rewards from the following:

  • XP
  • Gold
  • Gear
  • Legendary Hunt Trophies
  • Epic Hunt Trophies
  • Rare Hunt Trophies
  • Uncommon Hunt Trophies
  • Common Hunt Trophies
  • Ancient Tomes
  • Tainted Tomes
  • Legendary Skill Codex
  • Epic Skill Codex
  • Rare Skill Codex

The gear pieces and trophies that drop from each patrol are exactly the same as the ones you can get from the corresponding hunt. The Old World Remains Patrol will drop Offense and Defense pieces, Deep Wilds Patrol will drop HP and Speed pieces etc…

How Do I Get The Best Rewards?

Void Hunters Patrol Rewards

All reward drops are random from the selection above. But there are a couple of things players can do to increase their chances are getting better rewards.

Patrol rewards directly reflect the rewards you would get from the corresponding Hunting Ground.  The best way to think about it is, consider one patrol the equivalent to doing one run on the hunting ground. Only instead of using hunt energy you are essentially using time as a resource.

The better your level of that Hunting Ground, the better the reward. So make sure to progress your Hunting Grounds until you’ve mastered them to get the best Patrol rewards like Ancient Tomes.

The second way you can increase your rewards is with the Patrol bonuses. Each Patrol will give you a bonus if you send units matching the requirements, for example in the image above my Shadow Dungeon Patrol will give me a 5% bonus for each Tainted Hunter and a 10% Bonus for each Seasoned Hunter. So as you can see I’ve got Leo and Goran in the team who meet both requirements, giving me a 15% increase each. Vilk, Jagya and Reed only have the “Seasoned” tag so are only giving me a 30% bonus between them.

The third and final way is with the unit power. As you level up your units and increase their power, it will also increase the bonus they give on a patrol. My level 70 Leo is giving the largest bonus at 34.6% with my level 40 Vilk only giving 20.6%.

You can increase a units power by increasing their level, hunt rank, skill and awakenings.

Can I Speed Up My Patrols?

Yes. Players cant instant complete their Patrols by using diamonds. The amount of Diamonds required to instantly complete the Patrol is shown in the bottom right corner.

The amount of Diamonds required too instant complete is calculated based on the amount of time remaining on the Patrol and the Hunting Ground level. The closer the Patrol is to completion, the less Diamonds are needed to instantly complete. The lower the Hunting Ground level is, the less Diamonds are needed.

In our opinion, you should never use Diamonds to instant complete.

Can I Leave A Patrol Early?

Players are able to leave Patrols early by clicking on the Patrol icon and then clicking the red X beneath the possible rewards panel.

Players will be able to see what % of rewards they will get as a result of doing this, similar to instant completion, the % of rewards a player gets is calculated on the amount of time remaining of that Patrol.

The closer to completion, the higher the % rewards players get by leaving it early. However, just like spending Diamonds for instant completion, we believe you should never quit early if its been going a while.

If you accidentally put the wrong people on patrol and notice is straight away, its ok to quit early and fix your mistake.

Final Thoughts

We hope this has covered most of the questions you have when it comes to Patrols.

There really is no reason for players to not be sending the Patrols out if they have unlocked them. Its free resources that requires very little engagement from us as players, simply set it and forget it!
