x2 Ancient Shards & Progressive Chance Event for Varkos and Talenna
Plarium has announced that two Ancient Shard events will be running simultaneously from June 12. Players will benefit from a traditional x2 Ancient Shard event, doubling the chances of pulling Epic and Legendary Champions, alongside a Progressive Chance event featuring two newly released Legendaries: Varkos Headsplitter and Talenna Soulseer.
As always, the Progressive Chance event will allow players to select one of the featured Champions and receive increased summoning odds if they pull a Legendary from Ancient Shards. It is important to note that the Progressive event will end one day before the x2 Ancient event concludes.
Which Champion Will Help Your Account Most?
Both Champions appear to be strong additions to the current meta, but they fill very different roles. Early testing suggests that neither is a bad choice, with both showing enough potential to be considered high-tier options for endgame players.
Talenna Soulseer
Talenna is a disruptive control Champion who combines team support with poison-based damage. Her standout ability increases her team’s Accuracy before attacking all enemies, reducing buff durations and increasing enemy skill cooldowns. While her lockout effect is not as powerful as Champions such as Fabian, the built-in Accuracy boost makes her far easier to build and much more reliable against high-resistance opponents.
Beyond the control elements, Talenna brings AoE Poison debuffs, Turn Meter boosts, and a passive that rewards poison activations by accelerating her entire team. During testing, her poison damage consistently contributed meaningful pressure in longer fights, making her more than just a lockout specialist.
Varkos Headsplitter
Varkos offers something much rarer: a defensive damage dealer capable of repeatedly blocking revives while counterattacking and joining ally attacks. His kit allows him to ignore Block Damage, Unkillable, and Shield effects depending on the attack used, making him particularly valuable in today’s Arena environment.
What makes Varkos stand out is his ability to constantly threaten enemy teams outside of his normal turns. He has a chance to join ally attacks, gains powerful self-buffs, and can prevent defeated enemies from being revived. Testing showed that much of his strength comes from these extra attacks, where he was frequently able to secure kills and block revives on priority targets.
Who Should You Choose?
If your account needs a fast Arena controller who can disrupt enemy teams while adding poison pressure, Talenna is likely the better option. She provides reliable utility and can fit into a variety of compositions.
If you are looking for a unique PvP damage dealer that can punish revive-heavy teams and take advantage of ally attack strategies, Varkos may be the more impactful choice. His kit offers mechanics that are currently quite rare in RAID, and he appears especially strong in longer Arena battles.
Based on early impressions, both Champions look capable of earning a place in endgame Arena teams. The choice will ultimately come down to whether your roster needs more control and support from Talenna, or the aggressive block-revive threat that Varkos brings to the table.
