Alice the Wanderer Skillset Explained
Alice the Wanderer is a powerful glass-cannon damage dealer with accuracy requirements who will build and play very similarly to the starting champions (Kael, Galek, etc.) or Sun Wukong or Ninja (to name some legendaries you might be familiar with).
A1 – Vorpal Sword
Her A1 is a solid basic attack which gains a third hit if enemies have a skill on cooldown (which is actually very consistent). This does work against bosses and is a strong source of damage when you get the extra hit. Decreasing buffs by 1 turn per hit is useful against several bosses (such as the Chimera‘s Increase Speed buff) and great in arena where it won’t trigger Polymorph.
A2 – Clockwork Cyclone
Her A2 is her main attack, dealing big AoE damage, reducing Turn Meter, and increasing skill cooldowns by 2 turns. Since cooldowns decrease at the start of a turn, this move effectively locks out enemies out of their skills for 1 turn–though pairing her with other similar champions can stack it higher. Lockout is a very rare effect, making this a valuable attack for almost every player.
A3 – Queenslayer
Her A3 is a powerful single target attack that will attack a second weak target if she kills her first. You generally want to prioritise securing a kill to ensure the second hit for maximum value, though you can also use it to wear down a very tanky enemy champion too. This move is better against champions than against bosses, since almost half its power comes from triggering the second hit.
P1 – Tick Tock
Her Passive ability has two strong effects. Firstly it always boosts her damage based off how many turns remain on enemy skills. It’s a simple damage boost and it won’t affect her gameplay. Secondly, on a 3-turn cooldown, it will reset one of her active skills when she kills an enemy. This is an extremely powerful effect which can let Alice use her A2 twice in a row, stacking her high damage output and her lockout effect. Reseting her A3 is not as powerful, but can still be enough to wipe out an enemy team in the arena. You should nearly always prioritise her A2 when setting up your team AI to ensure that it is the move reset as often as possible.
Aura
Finally, her 30% ATK in All Battles aura is great, though you will likely prefer a Speed Aura for arena.
Where is Alice Used?
Pros and Cons
Alice the Wanderer is incredibly powerful in any content where you are fighting multiple killable enemies: Arena; Campaign; Dungeon waves; Doom Tower waves; Cursed City; and more!
Alice is decent, but not exceptional, against bosses, where she brings good single target damage with her A1 and A3, and a small Turn Meter reduction with her A2.
Arena
Alice will be an MVP in all arena modes (including Siege) thanks to her high damage, lockout, and self-reset. She will work best in a speed team which aims to go first: even if you can’t get past an enemy team in Stoneskin, Alice can still lock them out with her A2 and then kill them with her A3 when the Stoneskin has expired–or attempt to remove it with her A1 if not.
Alice is very squishy, so you will likely need to pair her with revive or protection champions since enemies might be able to kill her with their default attacks when locked out.
Arbiter will be a perfect partner for Alice, bringing an Increase Attack buff, Turn Meter boosts, buff removal, a revive, and a 30% Arena Speed Aura.
Nekhret the Great or Ultimate Deathknight are examples of champions who can help Alice stay alive.
PvE Waves
Alice works just as well against any waves in campaign, dungeons, etc. Not only does she bring very frequent and high damage thanks to her multi-target attacks and self-reset, but you will also find her A2 lockout sets her apart from other damage dealers. This can prevent enemies in wave content from cleansing, reviving, or placing Stuns or other CC on your team with their active skills. Since waves are usually quite slow, a well-built Alice can likely keep them permanently locked thanks to her Turn Meter reduction and short cooldowns.
How to Build Alice
Best Stats
The key stats to look for on Alice the Wanderer are:
- Crit rate to 100%
- Crit damage
- ATK
- Speed
- Accuracy
100% Crit Rate, paired with as much Crit Damage and ATK as possible will let Alice do maximum damage. Alice needs high speed to ensure that she goes before her enemies: I recommend a minimum of 200 for early-mid game players and 270+ for late-end game players. Accuracy is essential as well: I recommend a minimum of 200 for early-mid game arena and dungeons and 350+ for late-game arena and Doom Tower.
I recommend using the HellHades Optimiser to work out the best damage build for you. Simply set the accuracy and speed minimums that fit your account, and the Optimiser will do the rest.
An alternative build for Alice could be to focus entirely on SPD and ACC for lockout, but I recommend using the epic champion Basher for this role instead.
Best Gear Sets
The recommended sets for Alice are:
- Merciless
- Lethal
- Savage
- Instinct
- Perception
- Pinpoint
In general, we want Alice to go before her enemies and to hit hard. A set with ignore defence, such as Merciless or Lethal, is essential to secure kills on enemies. 4-piece Stoneskin can be used alongside this if you’re not confident of going first in arena, though Pinpoint accessories are preferable for extra SPD and ACC.
