How Poison Works in Raid Shadow Legends

What Poison Debuffs Do
There are two versions of the Poison debuff in RAID: Shadow Legends:
- The small version which does 2.5% of an enemy’s MAX HP as damage per turn they take.
- The big bersion which does 5% of an enemy’s MAX HP as damage per turn they take.
Additionally, there are a few key effects which can further increase your poison damage:
- Poison Sensitivity debuff: this increases the damage enemies take from poison by 25% (e.g. from 5% MAX HP damage to 6.25%).
- The Lethal Dose blessing: this increases Poison damage in PvP only (Arena and Siege) by 50%/100%/200% (i.e. from 5% to 7.5%/10%/15%).
- The Arachnelixir relic: this increases Poison damage by a % of the poisoner’s ATK stat (from 50% up to 150% extra depending on relic rank).
Note that you can stack all of these effects. So, for example: if you had Poison Sensitivty; a 6-star Lethal Dose blessing; a +18 Arachnelixir relic with 5,000 ATK; and you were fighting an enemy with 100,000 HP in Arena; your Poison would go from 5,000 base damage to 46,875!!!
Of course, Lethal Dose only works in PvP and most bosses these days have hidden passives which drastically reduce Poison damage (usually hard-capping it to a certain amount, such as 50,000, or uncapping it but applying a 90% damage reduction). That being said, Poison will still do steady damage to bosses and can potentially do massive damage to regular enemies anywhere in the game.
Why Poison Is Powerful for Boss Fights
From the section above you might feel like Poison is weak for boss fights. HOWEVER, due to bosses having such incredibly high HP pools–and since Poison debuffs scale their damage off a % of the enemy’s HP–they can actually do very significant damage to bosses.
The strongest effects will be against older bosses such as normal difficulty dungeons or the Demon Lord because these bosses do not have passives to protect them from Poison (or have weaker passives that keeps Poison damage reasonable but still useful).
One of the biggest advantages of Poison is that it requires very little gear to do good damage to bosses. A typical poisoner for bosses only needs enough ACC to land the Poison debuffs, plus having their skills booked and masteries unlocked. Compare this to a crit-based damage dealer, who might need all those things, on top of substantial ATK, C.RATE, C.DMG stats; a top-tier Ignore DEF gear set such as Savage; a damage-boosting relic; and a high level blessing.
In short, a new player will not be able to make their crit-damage dealers hit anywhere near as hard as content creators who have been playing for years, but a Poison debuff against a boss is simply a Poison debuff, and even a new player can build those teams!
Why Poison Champions Are Important

Demon Lord Clan Boss Damage Strategy
As the most important boss in the game (it’s the main source of shards and books), Demon Lord is a top early game priority and Poison champions are a fantastic early game strategy.
Since Poison scales based off the enemy’s MAX HP and has low gear requirements, it’s the perfect choice for new players who lack gear when fighting the incredibly high MAX HP Demon Lord!
It’s very challenging to reach 1 key damage in Ultra-nightmare difficulty with Poison, but it can comfortably take you to a 2 key; a perfect early game achievement!
Dungeon Boss Damage
Poison is also fantastic against early game bosses–namely, normal difficulty of Dragon, Ice Golem, and even Fire Knight bosses.
Dragon is the best one here, and Poison remains relevant even into Hard mode! Dragon is a simple boss, with the key goal being to break his shield to prevent his secret breath attack. Poison debuffs can rip through this shield, and are guaranteed to get value since you can’t push his turn meter back.
Ice Golem is a tricky boss to deal with since he counterattacks at specific HP thresholds. Poison damage, however, bypasses these counterattack triggers, enabling you to drastically reduce the incoming damage in this fight. Poison is the easiest way to take down Stage 25 Normal difficulty, but unfortunately the boss is immune to Poison damage on Hard difficulty.
Fire Knight is not typically a good boss for Poison, since you ideally want him to never take a turn. However, if you bring in an champion like Dark Kael who can Activate Poisons, it becomes a great damage dealing strategy.
Best Poison Champions in Raid
Here we’ve listed 10 of the most important Poisoners in the game: note that this list is not exhaustive, but it should steer you in the right direction for knowing what makes these types of champions so powerful! Check out our Champion Tier List for more info.
KAEL

Kael is the best starter champion, bring strong AoE nukes alongside multiple chances to land Poison. These Poisons will add a ton of “free” damage against many early game bosses, such as Dragon or Demon Lord. Aim to get to 85% C.RATE and 200 ACC, then try to get over 170 SPD for a good starting build!
FROZEN BANSHEE

Frozen Banshee is the other well-known rare poisoner. For most bosses you will want to avoid using her A2, and simply place her Poison Sensitivity with her A3 and then follow up with A1s for maximum Poison application. She’s often built very tanky to focus on bosses after your other champions have killed the dungeon waves.
FAYNE

VENOMAGE

AKEMTUM

Akemtum has an incredibly unique passive ability which duplicates any Poison damage the enemy team takes onto any enemies who have the Hex debuff–a debuff which he conveniently applies with his A2. Akemtum has a totally unique ability to take down waves–and crucially his bonus damage from his passive can trigger effects such as Stuns from the Stun set, opening up some incredible sneaky strategies.
KALVALAX

Kalvalax has one of the most infamous Poison abilities in the game, putting out four Poison debuffs at the start of every round. This makes him an absolute MVP for any Poison speed-farming teams, allowing you to quickly blanket the enemy in Poisons so that a Poison Activation champion can instantly wipe out an entire wave.
BALAR THE LOST

Balar has a very complete kit for a Poisoner, bringing not only AoE Poisons but also Poison Activation, Poison Sensitivity–and even more! He is particularly adept at the Chimera Clan boss, due to his high personal damage potential alongside the sheer amount of buffs and debuffs in his kit, which opens up a huge amount of Chimera Trials.
NARMA THE RETURNED

Narma the Returned was recently reworked, making her another very complete Poisoner. She can pump out AoE Poisons and Poison Sensitivity with her A3, then Activate Poisons with her A2. She also can bring a solid amount of healing and damage reduction to your team, helping them to stay alive. Unfortunately, she’s a notorious bibliophile who needs a crazy amount of books to fully unlock all her skills.
TEODOR THE SAVANT

Teodor brings in AoE Poisons, Poison and HP Burn activation, plus both Increase and Decrease SPD. The truly special thing, however, is that he increase the duration of Poisons and Burns before activating them, helping him to maintain those debuffs compared to other activators who can quickly rip through them.
NELL BLACKTEETH

Nell is currently the only mythical champion who focuses on Poison and she is absurdly powerful. Nell’s true power is revealed in PvP, where her passive skill can pump out an overwhelming amount of unblockable Poisons, ripping through any buff-heavy teams. To maximise her power, you will need both the Lethal Dose blessing and the Arachnelixir relic, but the effect is worth it. Note that she is extremely powerful in the new Mercurial gear set but she will also struggle against any enemies who have this set in return.
How to Build Poison Champions

ACC Requirements
The most important thing for Poisoners is to have enough ACC to land your Poisons. To land debuffs consistently, you should aim to have about 25 ACC more than the enemy’s RES stat. Use our Raid Stages Tool to check any enemy in any area of the game. Dragon 20, for example, has 200 RES, so you should aim for 225 ACC.
SPD Requirements
The more turns you take, the more Poisons you can apply!
We generally recommend running medium-high SPD on your Poison champions to maximise the amount of Poisons you will have. Note that for speed-tuned Demon Lord teams, you will have to build your champions with very specific speeds (check those guides if you are using such a team).
Recommended Artifact Sets
Any gear sets which give ACC or SPD are fantastic, such as Speed, Perception, or Feral sets.
Special mention can be made of Reflex and Regeneration sets: Reflex reduces your cooldowns, allowing you to palce your Poisons more often; Regeneration gives you some healing every turn, which often plays a key role in solo teams using Poison champions.
Blessings and Relics
The Lethal Dose blessing is a specialised Poison blessing but it only works in PvP (Arena and Siege). For PvE content, consider Brimstone (it synergises well with Poisoners who are often ACC-building, anti-boss specialists).
The Arachnelixir relic is the best specialised Poison relic, and makes ATK a top priority stat. Golden Elixir (Epic) or the Hoarder’s Cauldron (Rare) are both good budget options, giving self-healing and bonus ACC respectively.

The Xenomorph is also a strong poisoner choice at 100% crit chance.
